    If teams have the chance draft a qb, they have to. A good to great qb is the one player that can draw more good players to your team. Look Andy Reid, before mahomes, he appeared in the nfl top ten coaches without a SB ring. Now? Media is talking about he being one of the great coaches of all time. Look belichick with tom adn without tom. Look the Texans before a good deshawn or stroud. Look 49ers before montana and young. In short, you can trade your pick, have great oline, corners whatever, but with no good to great qb, no chance man. That is why you have to keep digging until you find the qb. If Maye doesnt work at least the pats used the pick to find out.
    Now with the commanders qb, now players might want to go to washington, but before, no way I am going

    • @Zp0423
      @Zp0423 Месяц назад

      I agree. That’s why playing the kid even behind a makeshift o-line is important. The line isn’t going to be significantly better next season. Andrew loss does hurt though. But we need to see if the kid is a stud or a dud quickly so we can make the decisions needed for next season. If he wins games with makeshift lines and these receivers that changes the entire outlook of what we need to do next year and we would be much more open to paying a big name receiver knowing we have a guy who can get him the ball

    • @jk2357
      @jk2357 Месяц назад

      @@Zp0423 We are in line to pick in the top 4. We will have a crack at the top or 2nd best tackle in the draft. Campbell is a beast, for example. If we play our cards right, we could trade up into the first round with the 2nd round pick and get two offensive linemen. Then we can try to attract a WR as Maye takes the field with an upgraded offensive line.

      No, pulling a winning lottery ticket in the draft is no longer the only way to get a good quarterback. I just watched the week 4 power rankings from Tom Grossi. Out of the top 10 teams in the NFL right now (according to Tom), 5 didn't draft their current starting quarterback (Vikings #1, Lions #3, Seahawks #5, Bucs #6, Steelers #8), but are succeeding with another team's reject instead. A good rookie quarterback can seldom lift a bad team, the fanbase gets frustrated when their savior didn't, and the bad team moves on leaving their early picks up for grabs for the better teams out there for pennies on the dollar.
      Patriots are now the bad team drafting early, and just like so many bad teams before them, they used their high pick in the draft to get a quarterback.

  • @13bangbang16
    @13bangbang16 Месяц назад +11

    Not taking Maye would have been a huge mistake. You don’t grab the pieces, and then hope to get lucky with a qb down the line. You take the possible game changing, generational talent at QB then you build the team around them. Not build a great team, and then plug and play a bunch of middle of the pack qb’s. Finding a great qb is the hardest thing to do, and it’s the most important position to get right. It’s easy to find good receivers, and linemen in any draft. Not a qb though. Look how many top prospects fail at QB in the league. We don’t want the pieces, and then struggle to find the head.

    Pats are dealing with new players (good for them), new coaches and a new scheme. The scheme and coaches should be better as a staff with a year behind them. The players will get better with another draft. They are a young team. This year is mostly about getting the team going after a reboot. Gonna be a rough year in 24.

    • @JJ-ud9ld
      @JJ-ud9ld Месяц назад +1

      What you talking about. Nothing about this team is new. They are still running belichick's scheme because that's the only scheme they know how to run. They kept all the same coaches on defense, they're all belichick guys who have been on the pats for years. Mayo played under belichick for 10 years and coached under him for 5 years. They are desperately trying to be belichick without belichick. The only thing they changed was the offensive scheme, which turns out that it's actually the worst and most outdated offense in the nfl. Belichick's offense is much more modern than alex van pelt's. The pats didn't bring in any new players, they just signed all the guys that Belichick drafted. Brisset is not new, he already played for the pats with belichick, and he played better back then. This team was even younger when belichick was still the coach, they still needed more drafts last year too, but you didn't have any patience for literally the greatest coach of all time. After Belichick's 2023 draft, it was immediately clear by week 1 that they he already hit on Gonzalez, White, Mapu, Douglas, and even Baringer. The pats first draft without belichick and everyone can already tell maye and polk are busts, they didn't draft any good players at all.

    • @JJ-ud9ld
      @JJ-ud9ld Месяц назад

      @@rebreaville9332 Every team turns over 30% of their roster every year. The pats have made almost no real changes anywhere. Mayo has already been coaching the pats for 5 years. Covington has already been coaching the pats for 5 years. Brisset was drafted by the pats, and looked better as a rookie. Rhamondre and Henry have already been on the team for 3 years, their backups are meaningless. I'll grant you Antonio Gibson is their 1 significant addition, but he's just a change of pace rb. Nobody else they've added has contributed anything. They changed the offense the most and they've just made it the worst offense in the nfl, it's even worse than last year when Zeke was the only healthy player. And all the players who used to be really good like Rhamondre and Onwenu suck now.

    The solution to all their problems is so obvious, it's staring you right in the face. Just make bob kraft the head coach already. Kraft is a football genius who was singlehandedly responsible for winning 6 super bowls with the pats. Bob Kraft is the guy who personally invented almost every innovation in the modern nfl, like match coverage, base nickel defense, spread offense, 2 TE offense. If Kraft was calling plays, they would score probably at least 10 tds every snap.

    This is the first year on a real rebuild a full new staff, about 80% all new players, Bill and Kraft wasted time, money and draft picks since the last year Brady was here why in 5 years didnt they draft Tackles on a declining line why didnt they sign or draft a real top true #1 wr we havent had one since Moss thats fact and they kept getting used washed up and problematic wrs, let good olinemen walk they drafted Strange should have gotten a tackle instead now we gotta wait until next draft which is loaded with really good tackles o use 1sr 2 picks on the best tackles available and pray a true#1 wr in Fa wants to sign here, and draft another shutdown corner to help Gonz the 2 jones's are too little. Getting a qb was a need he can learn the new scheme and sit.
