NERD! Good to have you back
Feels good to be back
An uninitiated: “Is it worth it?”
Primarch: “Oh yeah, it’s worth it. If you’re strong enough.”
Sums it all up nicely
Glad to see you back and to hear the excitement in your voice.
Hope the long projects are going well.
I started painting squats, had gone to London to visit my aunt during the summer and the son of her best friend was a Darkangel fanboy that got me painting by taking us to Hammersmith's GW shop.
That is awesome!
@@TheLostPrimarch Well... along that year (or the following one) second edition came out and the Tyranids ate squats :D Only found out the following Summer, and got into Militarum where I integrated the Squats I had.

I still remember the first time i ever saw a box of minis. The gold aquila on the box, and the rotund dudes in red armor.
I was about 5, maybe younger. My mother and i were visiting a family friend we've long since lost contact with. I was milling about the wood walled house doing curious ADHD child stuff, and i stumbled on the box in the room of her younger brother, who was probably about 15 or 16 at the time. I was asking about it, and he showed me the minis and told me stuff about them. Of course, i can't remember those details but i remember thinking how cool they were. Fast forward a couple years and we were living in yet another place due to trying to find work for the family. My mother and i went to a hobby shop to try to attempt to repair a toy train i had. One of the clerks was working on painting a squad of Ultramarines, goblin green bases and all. He let me watch while my ma was talking with the other guy. That was my second encounter.
Fast forward several years and we were living in the middle of nowhere on the east coast, right by the ocean. The nearest anything hobby or even big retail shopping was 2.5 hours away- but i also had internet access and was able to find out more about those strange little dudes. We ended up going to the shop where they carried GW products and that year for my 13th birthday i got a space marines and genestealers starter set. I met a couple friends in the ensuing years who had a passing interest, one moreso than the other. He still collects off and on.
Eventually we moved from there back to the Midwest, and as i got older and my internet connection became objectively better, and my "pond" also got bigger in terms of place lived, my passion for 40k grew.
I discovered Alfabusa and Co., started meeting more people who got the memes and various other shibboleths of the fandom, and even did some VA work for a channel on here related to the hobby.
I've always loved this hobby. Its become so much more to me than a passing interest. My life, without getting into the realm of being some "woe is me" type on a RUclips comments section, has been chaotic and at many times inconsistent. However 40k has always been there as an escape and creative fuel to boot, and has fortified friendships even in passing discussions at bars and smoke pits.
I do love this community, for all its faults and foibles. And its continued to inspire me in my almost 29 years of life, from that goofy little guy all the way to the man i am now.
Stay strong people, and have fun with it however you see fit, even if we never meet, we'll always have this cartoonishly grim and awesome universe to talk shop about.
Amazing comment

Hey man, thanks for the opportunity to share, and double thanks for what you're doing for the community lore- and chuckle wise!
A notable mention are the tabletop rpg-s that saidly didnt continue from Fantasy Flight Games. My friends and I are playing those and love it.
Good point!
I was just thinking to get into it to play with my kids. By “didn’t continue” do you mean I won’t find any support on adventures and such ?
I don’t want my normie friends getting into 40k. You see what’s happened to Marvel.
@@Bl00dwerK yea I've largely gotten past my gatekeeper behavior but there are some things that really are meant to be more niche. Even if you don't buy minis or play, 40K requires significant investment to even understand the setting. It's not something you can just coast on the surface level, as such, I wouldn't want to see them struggle needlessly because they simply haven't learned enough about it
@@Bl00dwerK and I've hated marvel ever since I realised they were going to be milking it in such a disgusting, transparent way. But some of the earlier installments could still be defended as being passable, or perhaps even competently made. With the most recent trailer i had shoved down my throat ,it looks like they're using the same "high voice to say sassy things" formula that got stale a decade ago
40k as a concept is amazing. 40k is one of those franchises that you have to pick and choose what you consume. If you don't like new lore just don't read the new lore.
Also, green is the best tasting crayon. The Infinite and the Divine is the best intro to 40k book. And Boltgun is the best modern 40k game
Well said!
I enjoy it despite the expenses. Just wish they didn't kill my Deathwatch Army.
Well... nothing is ever really perfect is it
How did you get into 40K?

I am thankful I was able to play 4th all the way to 8th edition. But today, no way.
The real question you need to ask yourself is "how strong is your Faith?"
Indeed
Edit: tiktok is cringe for children. I have a more sophisticated palate for advanced cringe
2:28 as a fan of Voyager, this hits different. Especially that weird episode with Jason Alexander as long haired, balding alien grifter
🏴☠
Just memorize your attribute sheets, then you are allowed to play.
Can I ask the name of the clips you used please.
Mostly from Darktide and Gothic Armada
@@TheLostPrimarch thanks bud. Appreciate your videos too. Glad your back too
lost..primarch?
I'm telling malcador
shhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Your absence has been noticed, report to the chaplain for penance!
Already doing it
HALLO NERD
Hello!
The honest answer is no. Games Workshop does not respect it's fans or player base. They intentionally set prices so high and limit availability. In the end, you invest lots of money into worthless plastic that can be changed at a whim by GW. Want to drop a couple grand on the best army? You can! But then GW can drop a new set of rules and your investment suddenly becomes a bottom tier army. Warhammer is a terrible investment for both your money and your happiness. Even Warhammer players are generally miserable people that loathe their expensive addiction.
Damn you just sound sad, you ok bro?
@@TheLostPrimarch GW broke him, like how they broke ( literally) many others.
@@TheLostPrimarch well he isn't wrong
I got a few people into 40k lore, but that's it. We just watch lore videos and read the pdf. No way we're supporting GW and their DEI-ran investors lol
Welcome back
