Why I own PI and VLF Detectors for Gold Nugget Hunting

- In this video I discuss my feelings on Pulse Induction (PI) and Very Low Frequency (VLF) detectors and why a serious gold nugget hunter may want to have both in the tool box. This video is in response to many of you good folks asking me if there is any benefit in making the investment.

You gave me good info on why to have different types of detectors.I will be looking on a P.I. first and later a v.l.f. Once again thanks for the help getting my head on my shoulders.Keep it Golden ALWAYs David out.
This information is priceless. Thank you
Thank you Moe
Also....size of coil dictates depth. And target sweet spot becomes deeper the larger the coil. Thats why big coils miss shallow small bits of gold..
Then top end detectors like the GPZ allow you to have a bit of both depending on how you set them up.
Its good to see you using all types. There is never just one tool for the job.
And sometimes depending on location it might not be practical to be lugging a ZED around. That's also where the SDC is on its own.
Great videos mate. Keep up the good work and advice.
Thank you Rick
You have said it before and so have I, LEARN YOUR MACHINE. Good stuff Bill.
That is the KEY Bill, learn what you have and it pluses and minuses. Sometimes owning a couple really has benefits and especially nugget hunting.
@@NUGGETSHOOTER I agree. But for someone on a VERY limited budget sometimes they (ME) can only afford a VERY inexpensive machine and just have to make do.
@@wandlbaker that is also true
Good summary of the strengths and weaknesses of PI and VLF detectors. Thanks Bill!
you have a great outlook on things
Thanks Kevin
Another nice vid Bill. I have the Equi 800 and Whites TDI Beach Hunter. The whites is very good on the beach, found alot of deep jewelry, as designed, but prospecting, maybe not. Can't change the coil and it does not pick up very small gold. Equi 800 seems very close to the "all around" machine.
Yep each detector has it's time and place.
Yep, i prefer the nox over the monster too!
Great information as always Bill !!!! best of lucky on the Gold hunt
Thank you Jeff
Another great video Bud! Very informative Garrett ATX is on my list!! 👍
Bruno and cactus is somewhat like some dogs that won't leave a porcupine alone eh. What a character my friend. When you explain things you do it really well. Nice and clear and to the point. You have a nice clear and beautiful day happening there today bud. Thanks a bunch for explaining the difference in the 2 types of detectors fella. Take care eh.
It's great to hear your side of things on metal detecting for gold out in the desert southwest. What a great adventure... to have the opportunities at your dispense. I can hardly wait to see you pull out a honking big nugget with one of your machines...GL&HH!
It has happened many times and will again.... I hope lol
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and what, how and why on every you do. Its fascinating to hear it from someone that's been there and done that a time or two. GL, HH and take care.
Thank you my friend
Bill again I can't thank you enough I truly love this information your talks you are so easy to understand much loving gratitude 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❣

Thanks Henry
Very informative, Bill. Thank you for sharing.
Anyone hear from Stan The Metal Detecting Man, can't find him, no videos, just 1 of you 5 guys I always watch
I don't know he has been gone quite a while from RUclips, hope all is well
Thanks for the reply Bill
You're right. I haven't seen a video from him in a while. I always worry listening to his breathing, maybe because I'm a retired ER nurse...
It's fun pouring out a jar full of nuggets🤣 I'm working on it..have the bottom of the jar lined. 😀👍 great video
Awesome knowledge on metal detectors and the ground area thank u
Super interesting! I am glad you do these info clips, learn something new every time. GL & HH
Thank you my friend!
Hey Bill!! Enjoy the informative vids ya put out...I have a at gold that I use...still no little chunky with it but plenty of nic nacs, treasures and trash!!! I've walk many of miles already with it ..haven't stop the adventure yet..dug and filled plenty of holes and placered many stream beds...Here in AZ we call it tannin and pannin!!!! 🤘😀😂⛏️
Thanks for the information, it was very helpful keep it coming!
Will do
Awesome info! Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the information Bill
And another fine video Bill !!
Another great lesson. Thank you.
Cheers and thank you for watching and commenting Rob
Good chat ! !
well said bill
Thanks for watching Walt
Muito bom! Obrigado pelo vídeo!
Hey bill, I just picked up a whites GM2. I also caught your video where you graphed out all your finds. Do you think you would have found the same amount of small targets with the PI? Thanks for all the great info 👍
Hello Bill . I am very new to all this an REALLY appreciate your information good stuff. My question is a Garrett 300 any good for hunting gold ???? Thank you .
Hi Jeff, the 300 would likely have issues working with the highly mineralized ground and hot rocks in the goldfields. But one never knows until they try
@@NUGGETSHOOTER Bill .Thank you for the information. Keep them great videos going really enjoy all your info an videos !!!!!
Great video again ! Thanks ! I was wondering about the frequencies on the Minelab multi frequency detectors like the Equinox 800 etc. Do you know what the range is in the KHZ . It was cool to hear about the new Vanquish line as they too use a multi frequency and I wondered if the spread of frequencies was the same across the line ?? I saw where the better models have a custom frequency option. I wish there were machines like that when I tried my first one !!! Thanks again !!
Hi Zing, EQUINOX 800 offers 5 single frequencies of 5, 10,15, 20, and 40 kHz, giving an 8 times range or ratio from 5 to 40, hence the 5F×8 technology designation.
Thanks for the answers ! That technology is just way too cool ! I can't wait to have that range available. There are a lot of good gold detectors out there but even a great gold bug or a Teknetic G2 is a single 19 khz. WOWZA , the 10, 15, 20 and 40 khz would all be excellent for gold prospecting !! Now I want a Vanquish too as a back up and enticement to get more friends to join me on detecting trips. I think I would get a few more takers if I was able to tell them I had a minelab they could use for the day !!!!!
I am still looking for my first nugget. I have a Gold bug 2
Great detector Paul and it is just a matter of time
Bro I live in Southern California I prospect but I want to start metal detecting out here do you think that the Minelab gold monster would be a good metal detector out here or do you think there’s too much hot rock any advice thank you
The Monster would be a good choice and we have a great deal going on them currently!
Thank you
I have the whites TDI pi I bought in 2009-2010 never went out with yet learning how to from the videos what do u think of it I live in Sweet home Oregon where White's company is
Would a whites tdi pro pulse do good I'm in New Mexico southwest region?
I have not tried one in NM so can not be of much help
Maybe call White's and ask? Much like most manufacturers in America of detectors they really have a sense of what's what.
Hi Bill thanks for your video. Do you hunt Gold only by detecting?
Hi Dale, yep I used to drywash etc. but like detecting better.
Hello bill,which detectors u are using please?thanks
GPX 6000 and Gold Monster 1000 for gold
If you could have only one PI....which one?
Likely the Minelab GPX 5000 or GP 3500
PI's do not have discrimination. It picks up ALL metal.
Some PI have elimination, and even a different tone for ferrous metals
Actually most do have discrimination and that includes the SD, GP,and GPX, but we do not rely on it nugget hunting and dig all targets. I dig almost all targets when using a VLF as well.
James get your sources correCT. Pi machines do have discriminate on them.
Which vlf detector would you recommend ? and what about nokta makro gold kruzer ?
I like the Minelab Gold Monster 1000 the best at this time, the Nokta (I carry them too) is not quite as sensitive to small bits.
@@NUGGETSHOOTER thanks for reply yes 💐
so what model to start with gold master
Gold Monster 1000 is my favorite VLF currently although the GB2 and Whites 24K are also great detectors. The Gold Monster 1000 only has a few settings making it quite easy for someone new to nugget hunting.
I got deus 1 and deus 2 what you think about them ?
My Answer >>> Because You can afford to have both lol
Because I scrimp ans save like everyone else. Just got to have the tools...
@@NUGGETSHOOTER thumbs UP 'winks'
And on the other side of the coin , I’ve been with people who have the big expensive machine’s and don’t have a clue how to use them , they are useless,!
Yep and that is the reason I post videos, to help.
Yeah go gold hunting with PI guys then hit the credit card in Monday.
