What’s up with Sunny being in the basement? The office should be her room until she gets older. Strange arrangement.

A lot of people commented to not put her downstairs when they were first showing how the house was coming along. If nothing else, they could put her crib in Jack's room for now and wait until both kids are a lot older before one goes down to the basement. They treat Sunny so much different than Jack.

Kind of sad Sunny's room is so isolated and her special space is basically a storage closet for your excess clothes. You treat her different than Jack who has his own space and he's upstairs with you guys with LIGHT.
Also if someone breaks into your house they know perfectly where everyone is. This is so dangerous!

They were going to have jack in the basement then idk what happened an now sunny is downstairs… 😢 very odd. Most of the views don’t like it. Doesn’t make sense in anyway shape or form! I don’t think they could explain to any of us why they did… they could use 1000 reasons why they did that but it still makes no sense!! My mom would say something before my viewers ever did.. my own mother would be so upset with me that by the time this house tour came out it would have been changed…. But honestly my mom wouldn’t have had to be made because I would never ever do this!!! If a creeper gets into that basement no one will hear them and they will take sunny and run and you won’t know for hours!!! That’s so so so scary!!

Love the tour & your precious family🥰 As a Mom for 40 years & Grandmother for 19
Years, I agree with the majority about our recommendation to relocate Sunny’s room closer to the rest of you’ll upstairs. You can always let the kiddos play together downstairs while you work from your office where Sunny’s room is now. She will appreciate the privacy more later on when she’s a teen-but not now. Safety is paramount & I know you being the parents will make a wise decision. Blessings!🙏🏻💕

I like how respectful you have been with your message. I think the overall consensus has been the room needs to be re-located but some comments are a bit rude! I do remember them asking in a previous video about having the kids in the basement, but I can’t remember the reasoning for it. Personally it would stress me out having my babies so far away from me especially at night!

A little girl alone in the basement next to the guest room?? Freaking dangerous even if you only have people you trust down there.
Most SA are within the family and friends circle.
    SO UNTHOUGHTFUL.
You just said the office has the same amount of space as Jack’s room, why don’t you switch the office for Sunny’s room?
Sunny won’t appreciate a walking wardrobe for another 15 years, why the need to keep her separated and not putting the effort you clearly did with Jack?
I’ve been part of the “left aside female descendants” in my family, and I can tell you, kids notice it and it scars you for life. Always feeling you are not good enough (not just in relationships but in life, career, everything affects it!!!).
Also you are not contemplating Sunny is a girl, she needs better protection than for Jack in general.
This is very disappointing and I’m just scared for beautiful baby Sunny.
She will def have issues with you all (Jack included because he will treat her as you do, not as you tell him to treat her) directly once she’s able to speak and observe the family dynamic better.
Really really sad this can be preventable but you are just so set on Jack alone 😢

Watched vid before commenting..I have to agree with others. Seems like sunny is on the back burner . It's all about you two and your convenience. Poor little sunny, I hope these choices for you and jack would be reconsidered. I would never put my youngest and still so small on a different floor away from the rest of the family. Maybe mom subconsciously is jealous of not being the only girl in the house? Out of sight out of mind. Office downstairs, sunny upstairs with the rest of you. How will you hear her cry in the middle of the night, oh, technology yea right. All this time I have watched you, you've never put jack away from you like that, with him that small. Hope you reconsider your choices

Thats terrible to suggest Sarah likes being the only girl in the house. Very uncalled for. Sarah and Derek love their children. The only problem is the children are on a different level and with a baby so young I just wouldn't do it. It looked like they were closed in unsupervised. They are way too young. Keeping the house clean or more peace for mom and dad wont matter if something happens to one of the kids. You can never go back. Please reconsider you all being on the same floor. An open toilet is an accident waiting to happen. You should have a baby lock on it even if its inconvenient for Jack. He of course needs to be able to let you know he needs to go. I love your channel and want only good things for you. We would all like out of sight and a break from kids sometimes, but it just cant happen while we are parents (or they are several years older) except for the breaks with Grandparents. Please get on the same floor till they are older.❤

Also, they lived in a different house when Jack was that small. They love BOTH their kids. To imply otherwise is so wrong. They are young parents. Lets encourage them and suggest the same floor, but to think there are other motives, well, you just dont know them at all.

Thank you for your house tour. Very different with completed fixtures and with furnishings. Before very huge when empty, but just enough now with furnitures. I prefer not to knockout just to make door because it's fine now. Love the huge sofa at the basement with the huge space it made the room comfy and just rightly filled. So Sunny's room is really at the basement? Especially now she's on exploring stage! Always put the lid on your toilet seats down and buy a stopper so it wouldn't open quickly. Also put covers on your electrical outlets to avoid electrocution. There are safety procedures to be done, it's hard to be injured while young (well even as adults like Derrik- no offense). Is she not lonely there? Hope you have her with you for now? Or put your office down. Not right to have a baby alone AND AT THE BASEMENT? WHY???

Favoritism. Even Derek looked embarrassed about where they stuck that beautiful little baby. He tried to make up for it by saying the living area bathroom was hers. It’s not even decorated for a little girl. At least he has the decency to be ashamed about it.

Beautiful ohana and hale! I wondered why Sunny is so far away. When you lived in Hawai’i, you were like in arms reach of Jack, very nurturing!!! Children always notice the differences and compare. I was 1 of 10 and I know the differences of how i was treated. My parents loved me as you do Sunny, but in her eyes she may feel like she is second to Jack. As a nanny, mother of three…. Your baby needs to be near you♥️Skin to skin….just as you did with Jack! Also the fact that your toilets aren’t closed with baby proof latches on them is surprising, especially since you said she can often be found by the toilet. I know a lot of us said something about it not being right that sunny is alone in the basement when they we're planning their rooms out. They just don't care. They put her down there anyway. I could never. What if there was a fire? They paid to have a house built and CHOSE to put their baby in the basement. Wtf. I’m also wondering why that absolutely beautiful little girl named Sunny, is so far away from the rest of you. That video was great but the thing I first thought was where’s Sunny??? Seeing Sunny’s beautiful face bathed in sunshine like the rest of you, would be so good for her and for everyone else. I grew up on the outside of my family for some (my step-brother was born when I was 8) and that was it. Even though my mother tried her best when it came to fairness but I always knew I was on the outside. I grew up thinking that and here I am at 69, still feeling the same way. My mum died in 2007 but I still miss her every day. You guys probably don’t notice, but it seems like, sometimes, that Jack gets more attention because he is first-born and he’s amazing fun to be with, and Sunny was smaller, with dark hair….which surprised everyone, but her smile and the sparkle in her gorgeous eyes are so breathtaking…..I’d LOVE to see her more often. Please don’t take this as criticism in any way. You guys are awesome parents already! I watch your videos and smile constantly while doing so. Lots of love to all of you, from Toronto, Canada. Are you comfortable with Sunny so far away? It feels like an odd energetic having parents and small children so far apart. Maybe pay attention to how integrated she feels into the family as time goes on. We recently put our grandkids (2 & 3) in the same room and they love it. We got a twin bed for our grandson and will put in bunk beds when our granddaughter grows out of her crib (soon). They love waking up in the morning and chatting with each other. And they sing to each other at night. Or maybe just a crib in your office for now.

Boys and girls should always have separate rooms. Once they're walking and talking, they need their own rooms. I don't know how to say this, but brother-sister incest is a real thing, and it happens WAY more than most people realize, and can start at a really young age. DCF will tell you that they each need their own room for this exact reason.

In just a year and a half when Sunny’s out of a crib and in a bed she’s going to wake up and get out of bed downstairs in the basement all by herself. Not only is this super dangerous in case of a fire but what a sad and lonely way to wake up. She should be upstairs with the rest of the family. Your baby, Sunny who's bedroom is located downstairs , tucked back in the rear araa, beyond the guest room( that's another issue to consider...), beyond the huge family room. The house is really cool! Love all the windows so you have such nice natal light. Here’s the major problem!! A 1 year old should never be sleeping alone downstairs( unless you have a full time Nanny sleeping down there) think about if she needs you at night. Bye the time the monitor ( which you better have) goes off and you wake up go downstairs she could be in real danger. Also I noticed you have bumpers in the crib!!! They have suppose to stop selling them because babies can suffocate under them. In that big a house Sunny should have a room near you. How you ever came up with that Idea is beyond this great grandmas mind. Why is Jack near you?? Think about this problem quick. Can even put Jack down there and Sunny in his room?? I absolutely agree with most of your viewers. A small child should be sleeping as close to their parents as possible. I am mother to 5 and could not image having to run all the way down stairs and down to the end of the hall to get to my child. Especially when the house was built with three bedrooms upstairs. Honestly having your office in the room where Sunny's room is would be smartest since when working you should want privacy and an ability to have uninterrupted work time. Then later when the kids are teens, you let them have the two basement rooms and then have your precious office in that room that you have it now and the guest room in Jack's current room. Honestly the thought that you really put your not even one year old in the corner basement room concerns me and makes me doubt that you are making the best choice for everyone in your home. I think that it just about has me so disappointed and disgusted that I may unsubscribe. I hope you truly take all these caring parents opinions to heart for Sunny's sake.

And I think it’s concerning that they know Sunny’s leg is turning in drastically and she won’t even sit on her butt ever and they just say yeah we need to make an appt for that. I would have made the appt the day I noticed it because if she needs braces on her legs like Sara’s sister had to have when she was younger, time is of the essence. Love their sweet family I just worry about little sunny 😢

This really made me feel feelings I’ve never felt for this family myself. I REALLY adore them but this is just not setting well with me. I’m a new mother of a 3 month old girl and my husband and I couldn’t imagine even putting her in her own room yet, even though she has a whole beautiful nursery set up in the room next to ours. We would never want our babies on a different floor. When they’re teens, it’s much different. But not a precious, helpless little baby. I feel sick in my heart over this.

Well I’ve thought about it- I can see that as a family you favor the upstairs. That’s the used areas. It’s not ok for your youngest to be in the basement while everyone else is upstairs. I know you probably think she wants the big closet and all of that space, but she’s a baby. She will not want to be alone downstairs until she’s an older teenager so if I was you Sarah, as a mother, switch the office space and Sunny’s room for now. All the adult things and hangouts can be hosted downstairs and keep the upstairs private for your family. It’s a huge safety issue as well. If the house burns, Sunny cannot escape on her own yet. Jack is right beside your room. It’s just odd that’s she’s down there while everyone else is upstairs. Maybe when she’s older and appreciates the big closet and privacy, but not now when she’s too young to defend herself if something God forbid happens

Every day, they talked to Fred and stroked him. Comes Friday, we asked the girls about carving Fred, thinking that they wouldn't want to do it. They immediately shouted "Great! Chop his head off! Scoop his guts out!" Leaving us adullts open-mouthed. Lovely memory.
