You are making some beautiful quilts, Rachel. I agree with the other comments about how well you put your videos together. It's also fabulous that Riley Blake and others see what we see and are sponsoring you. It is very much deserved, Rachel. ❤🎉😊
Congratulations on becoming a Riley Blake Maker! You are going to be fantastic; I’m excited to see the projects you’ll come up with! You’ve quickly become one of the few content creators whose videos I start as soon as I see they are posted even if I need to pause and come back later. Your videos are extremely calming in this time of chaos in the US. I appreciate your steady instruction, reassuring demeanor, and cheerful pleasure when a step is concluded. Thank you.
You show the most beautiful patterns! I’m going to put this one on my list for sure! Your idea of putting a secondary Dresden block in the middle is an exciting thought! Congratulations on the Riley Blake offer! They are lucky to have you on their team!🎉❤
Just wanted to tell you that your episodes are wonderfully interesting. You seem so natural and I like that you have very similar taste as mine. Additionally, you do a wonderful job teaching.
My Grammy taught my mom to quilt by making a Dresden Plate quilt. Growing up that quilt was always in the back of our station wagon ready for trips to the beach, drive in movies, and picnics in the mountains. One of the first quilts I made was a Dresden Plate quilt and now it lives in the back of my SUV ready for any and all adventures.
Hi Rachel, I have been watching your fantastic videos recently and like your other followers I have been so inspired to sew more. I adore your choice of fabrics especially the new range from Riley Blake. Well done and congratulations on becoming a Riley Blake maker. Thanks for all your hard work making fabulous videos.
I’d been give a pile of very old vintage 29:36 half made Dresden plates so this is exactly what I needed to finish and make it into a Dresden plate quilt … fantastic tutorial Thank you 🥰
I so enjoy your videos and this one is not disappointing. I love the quilt and the fabric you used. I have my grandmothers Dresden quilt very similar to yours. She has been gone almost 50 years and I helped her quilt it when I was about 10. It brings such good memories of her and her wit. She was a firecracker. Thanks for those memories. God bless.
I have a little trick for keeping your seam in the middle, cut a 2” square piece of cardboard and put cross lines corner to corner. Slide the little cardboard between the layers, line the seam with the line and press. They will be pretty much perfectly. I use this when making Dresdens
Rachel, your quilt is beautiful. You are really inspiring both with your quilting and how you put together your video's. I'm looking forward to next weeks one!
Because of you Miss Rachel, I am back to sewing! My very best friend passed away in the fall and I had no desire to sew anything! You've inspired me to start a Dresden quit. I absolutely love your show and look forward everyday to watching something new. Thank you.
Rachel, your videos are all wonderful, including this one. I appreciate their calm and relaxing nature; I play them weekly while I sew. I have two questions: How do you remove the cardboard circle from the inside, and how much fabric did you need for your finished quilt?
Thank you! To remove the cardboard centre, you just ease a small around of the fabric back and pop out the cardboard, you will need to re-iron a section of the centre but it does keep its shape. I used 1/4 yard of the pattern fabric, 5 yard of the pink (I used this for the backing aswell as the dresdens) and then 3 yard of the white xx
I'm a fan but first time making a comment, l love your style of teaching, well, sharing how you approach creating your beautiful crafty items. Congrats on the Moda Fabrics, Riley Blake deal, how exciting , super well done and well deserved. I find you are really easy to watch and l love the way you teach and are super real, down to Earth and can l say geeky 🤓 at times, l so love that, it's truly relatable 😀. I'm super inspired by you, please keep up the great work 🎉❤
Hi Rachel I purchased the ruler with the pointer and it has arrived. I am pleased to say the point turner has a blunt end as I wanted. Thank you for your good tutorial and advice about the ruler and for replying to my query Diana
Love putting a smaller plate inside the bigger plate. I'm putting a solid color inside of mine and then covering that with a small doily. Oh, and that diamond between the plates is just awesome!!
Just love this quilt Rachel. I made a larger dresden plate for an oriental quilt I made for myself but was doing quilt as you go and joining the squares later as I only have a small sewing machine throat and a tiny sewing space. This looks small enough to make as a whole quilt so I think I will have a go at this one as I have lots of lilac and pale pink left over fabric in my stash. Love the clear way you explain things at a speed my ancient brain can absorb.
Wow, this quilt really is beautiful Rachel. You have my taste in fabrics so of course I love everything you do. You have such a calm and peaceful way of teaching it makes me think I can make anything you show us. Love your videos. Keep up the great work.
Ive rewatched this four times now....its a brilliant video, you are fabulous at explaining and HUGE CONGRATS on becoming a Riley Blake maker. ❤❤ Question: is the UK Amazon link for the blunt edge turner that you used in the video.....because it was clever how you turned them so quickly using it. Thanks so much, Ells xxx
Your Dresden Plate quilt is just lovely and your fabric choices are beautiful! I've made several Dresden Plate quilts and I really love your variations. I'm currently working on a mini Dresden quilt and would like to try some of your suggestions in the future. Thank you so much for sharing!
I love this, Rachel! I have made some dresdens and really needed something to add to it -- I was thinking of making like a connecting block in between each dresden -- like a chain block -- but that would have made it way too big. I love this idea of the snowballed corners! I am going to do exactly that and finish it up! Funny how some ideas come along and I'm thinking why didn't I think of that! It's so simple yet effective! Thank you!
Love your channel, Rachel! One tip - when putting your blades together, start your seam about 1/4" down from the shoulder, backstitch, and then continue on down the blade. This eliminates any thread bunching at the shoulders or stray threads sticking out.
So many dresden plate tutorials on the web over the years ... but none like this! Love your videos; so enjoyable and technically spot on! Congrats on becoming a Riley Blake Maker! I hope they know what an absolute treasure they have with you. Love Riley Blake Designs fabric by the way so looking forward to seeing what you do with some.
This is so beautiful. I know talked about the centers and removing the cardboard, but I missed when you did that. Can the cardboard circles be re used for the next Dresden?
I love all of the Riley Blake fabrics. The other ones that get me motivated to do things I just found your channel and I really like it. I like your Calm voice and The way you describe what you’re doing. Thank you for sharing.
A beautiful quilt and well done tutorial. A simple suggestion - when sewing the dresden pieces together start a few stitches down from the top and backstitch to the top. That way the thread ends are hidden and and the edges are a bit more secure.
Very pretty quilt Rachel. Just a little tip for you. If when joining the blades you start stitching a little way in and reverse stitch, you won’t have to worry about those thread tails showing. ❤
I came back to mention this. Sewing that additional seam 1/2” from the first adds very little time and the collection of HSTs will grow quickly enough to use for a project.
Wow, Rachel! That Dresden plate is a beautiful quilt!. Just added another quilt to my list to make.😅 Thanks for the tutorial. I thought it would be much more difficult to make. I love it with a coordinated fabric line. Scrappy ones are beautiful too, but this is really quite stunning. Congratulations on Riley Blake, you deserve it!
I thoroughly enjoyed this tutorial. Love your voiceover, choice of music and especially the detailed explanation. A beautiful design which I aspire to accomplish some day
Absolutely stunning❣️ Your step by step tutorial was perfect, as usual. Love all of your beautiful handwork-you are a gifted artist with fabric for sure 🥰
Merci beaucoup, Rachel for this tuto. I've always loved the look of a Dresden block quilt but imagined it to be much more difficult to do & yours looks lovely. Btw, is it easy to get the cardboard template out of the circle without losing the shape ? You should be very proud of yourself as you your channel is soaring & it's so very well deserved. 😘
Gorgeous love the look the snowball corners make. I have made a couple dresden quilts and my next one will have the snowball corners. Beautiful colors.
Every time you come on I get a huge smile just knowing how calm and peaceful you will be! Thank you for posting and sharing your pretty things!
Aww thank you so much 💖💖

Your Dresden plate quilt blowing in the wind is absolutely gorgeous. Love the corners, fabric and colours a very happy quilt . Well done Rachel

such a pretty quilt Rachel, love your quilts and your videos. You have an abundance of patience to make those mini quilts I admire that.

I like the blanket stitch the one I have been using is like a double one I might have to try the other one like yours, looks beautiful thanks Rachel

On centres, I've done a Cath Kidston dresden kit before that had a yoyo/suffolk puff centre. That looked really sweet, too! So many beautiful options
So pretty, thank you for sharing 😊
