Yeah, it seems little more than an expensive toy. It's why I've always avoided Apple products. Not to mention, you can get a 49" ultra wide OLED Samsung monitor and an RTX 4080 gaming PC for around $3000...

Fun little presentation! I honestly still struggle to take the vision pro seriously, it feels like a device that 90s techbros envisioned to be the future. But I have never tried any VR like experience myself so I wont judge the use cases or experience. I however could never get behind the whole apple walled garden concept, as you said, they want you to use the device as they envisioned it, not to be free using it like you want to use it. This is an issue of most modern tech though, with maybe the steam deck as an exception. Anyway, the market is open for a full on isekaied VR gacha experience! Probably any Rule 34 content will jump the gun first though ;P
If you live in the US I recommend at least trying a demo of it at the apple store. You will probably immediately understand the appeal and potential outside of just a game context
Apple hoping people will spend $3500 to be Beta testers so that in 10 years they can charge $5000 for the real thing. Jenshin players are always ready to part with their hard earned money

Instead of moving around awkwardly like that, can't Apple make a headset or VR Gear like those in Sword Art Online, so it actually feels you are inside the Genshin world and can run/control your character freely?
That is something that is conceptually easy to think about but incredibly difficult into practice to achieve on a hardware level and software level, mostly because of the fact that you’d actually need to cover more senses than sight and sound, and reimagining how we interface with games. I think the tech is getting there, but scifi levels of immersion like with SaO is a ways off still most likely
You could also side load the iPad version of genshin on the Mac using sideloady or even better play cover (has better game support) and then use the Mac display mirror……To take off some of the latency….it might be possible to side load to the Vision Pro if it has developer options to…not sure though as I don’t have one…
There is magnetic prescription lenses that you need to use if you wear glasses (which is what Im doing). They cost about the same as good quality prescription glasses do normally

The funny thing is that you can download and play it on a meta quest (Idk about the original but v2 and up can do it) but hoyo hasn't implemented controller support in the android version so you basically can't do anything. So genshin on native VR is not really a thing yet sadly.

Does VR Chat run on this like it does oculus? If so I’d be so interested to see you go into the VR Chat Genshin worlds and show them to everyone.
One thing that you could try, get some IPL glasses or something that blocks light and modify it to just cover one eye, everything you see in the vision pro should be a holographic effect based on which colours are blocked by the glasses.
I bought an xreal to do this lmao, and it disappointed me. Beam has horrible software and FOV is too tiny. Also screen is placed too high. Too many wires too. Sigh, I feel like that scene in Ironman where Howard Stark told Tony he’s limited by the technology of his time. We’re definitely in that stage of vr.

Thank you for further cementing how much I don't need this device. Genshin mighta nudged me in that direction but not having native app support on an air-cooled M2 is really awful. I think that's actually more Hoyo's decision but also probably more Apple's fault. They should really have a hard mandate on iOS/iPadOS apps on Apple Silicon Macs and Vision Pro. That they can't get what is likely the only really successful "AAA" game on iOS to run on either one of their other two Apple Silicon initiatives really makes it clear how terrible they have handled third party relations.
Yeah, its a very very unnecessary luxury toy for now. But it really does feel like a matter of time before developers just support some level of compatibility with the Vision Pro type of device by default (at minimum just by running in a 2d window)

I don't think saying that you have a friend that worked on software side of vision pro is a good idea and how long he worked on it and you impling that you probably know a bit of behind the scene stuff not sure it works on apple too but you should be able to connect a controler to the vision pro and let parsec parse it to the PC so you remove the disconnect between you doing a action and seeing it there still will be a latency but you won't feel it as much I also hope that there will be native parsec app
Parsec controller connection didnt work for me without extra configuration. I also hope there ends up being a native parsec app (or similar) eventually, would probably help a lot And I did check with my friend to make sure I could say some things or not lol, to make sure it didnt affect him. He’s not given me any specific info that is particularly problematic in general because he knows what he can or cannot tell me, and just saying I have a friend who worked on it is more than fine lol. Nothing much I said this video was directly influenced by what he has told me anyways, I just mentioned it since it was a primary factor for purchasing the product to me
Surprised you didn't try using PlayCover on Mac… Is it ARM? Cuz TECHNICALLY you can use that to play on ARM devices like maybe the M2 in the Vision Pro butt… you MAY need to build it. Also Wifi6E would prob be faster than Gigabit wired. MEOW
not having genshin on the device, or not having the vision pro as a display for the ipad or iphone is a miss. couldve just made it to where you could plug the headset into the lightning/USBC port and away you go. but i guess that just makes to much sense.

That aspect wouldn't really have changed anything since the PC->Mac through Parsec was actually very good. The problem is in the way the wireless Mac Virtual display feature functions in the Vision Pro. And using Parsec lets the game run at much better quality, I assure you the M1 (fanless!) Macbook wouldn't be running it particularly well even if I went to the effort of sideloading.

I had 4,000$. I had a choice a couple months ago. Ball out and buy a new pc with a sweet RTX 4090 or buy the Apple Vision Pro……………… I believe I made the right choice buying the pc. It was a tough call at the time but telling me I bought 4,000$ computer and I can’t use it how I normally use it is BULL.

Yes, you either use contacts or prescription lenses with it (I use prescription inserts)
Dualsense doesn't work with genshin wireless, you need to connect it via usb to work.

Do you mean that you can’t connect a controller to Visions Pro for HSR? Because I played it on iPad with controller and it’s okay 👍🏻

If you can connect the vision pro to an ipad wouldnt it be easier to download genshin on there i think that would run way better@@Solunerra
Ive been using a controller on the Apple Vision Pro for HSR only until some days ago when you switch to controller mode it’s just a black screen infinitely now it’s weird
