- Pink velvet cake is fluffy, moist and has a velvety crumb that melts in your mouth. PINK VELVET CAKE RECIPE ►
13 oz (369 g) cake flour
12 oz (340 g) granulated sugar
1 tsp salt
1 Tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
5 oz (142 g) egg whites room temperature
4 oz (113 g) vegetable oil
10 oz (284 g) buttermilk room temperature or slightly warm
6 oz (170 g) butter unsalted and softened
2 tsp vanilla
2 drops electric pink food coloring
STABILIZED WHIPPED CREAM RECIPE ►
24 ounces (680 g) Heavy whipping cream
4 ounces (113 g) powdered sugar
2 teaspoons (14 g) powdered gelatin
1 Tablespoon cold water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon heavy whipping cream
1 cup fresh raspberries (optional) garnish

@@helenbode3128 It should be available at your local stores and supermarkets, otherwise you can look up videos on how to make cake flour (very easy, using all-purpose flour and cornflour)

This pink velvet cake is exactly what I was looking for . I was gonna use your white velvet till I searched for this one . ( I think besides the food color the only other difference is a slight difference in cake flour . The white velvet has 12 oz cake flour and the pink velvet has 13oz cake flour )
I plan on a pink velvet heart shaped cake with strawberry Italian merengue buttercream , and red Renshaw fondant . I’m making the cake look like a chocolate box including a top lid partially off to the side with bow . There will be chocolate dipped strawberries resting in the cake box . I’m so excited! Thank you for all your wonderful videos over the years ! I’m no cake artist but you make it possible for the less talented to achieve awesome cakes !

What are your thoughts on whipping the egg whites on their own till soft peaks and folding it in in the end? Will it make for an even lighter texture?

My attempt with this cake failed. It completely sunk in the middle, everytime I use baking powder this happens. Baking powder is new and the oven was not oppened until the top was already browning. I´m so sad. Texture is very nice indeed.

the cake was lush, really tasty !! After a couple bites it did taste a bit gritty I’m not sure how to describe it but like kind of powdery?? My cake also wasn’t your consistency when pouring it into the pans it was much runnier, I didn’t have cake flour so I did the plain flour + corn flour - don’t know if that was the problem ? Then with the cream- I didn’t have gelatin so I used one of your other stabilising recipes and it was the powdered milk :) cut into the cake and the was a pool of melted cream haha maybe I didn’t let it chill long enough, things really just started falling apart, maybe I was just really impatient ! My icing wasn’t smooth it really was a shame but I guess the beginner in me is taking its place - I’ll be sure to try again another time but I do love this recipe! :))

I can’t find cake flour in the country that I live, I really wish o could try ur cakes , I saw ur blog post which said home made cake flour doesnt work for ur recipes, please try building recipes with home made cake flour too :) thank you so much
shakeenida I have used store bought cake flour and I have used home made cake flour and I can tell you that if anyone can tell the difference then they are a bigger genius than Einstein. Make the cake flour yourself, I make 8 cups at a time and keep it in a glass jar. Believe me it’s so close you won’t know the difference.

Anika Wahab yes that’s how I use for most cakes but never tried for lizs as she specifically mentioned that asunstitute don’t work for her recipe

You might have to do a few tests to see what works for you. I suggest halving the recipe for testing

Yes you can do two 8” x 2” pans, I don’t have the exact baking time but I would start with 25 minutes and watch it from there. Bake until the center is set and a toothpick comes out the center clean.
