Report:
On 09/23/2021, Central dispatch advised of a shoplifting in progress at Kroger on College Station Rd.
Clerk attempted to confront the listed black female suspect as she pushed a full shopping cart out of the store without paying for any items. Clerk advised that employees are not permitted to pursue shoplifters past the sidewalk.
A suspect physical description and suspect vehicle description were given by the caller. Vehicle was described as a gold or beige Honda Accord. Caller advised on 911 call that he had followed the suspect vehicle in his on vehicle and he observed the suspect vehicle pull out and followed her apartment complex.
Officer drove to the complex in his patrol car, following behind SPO. As he approached the rear of the complex, I heard SPO advised via radio that he had contact with the suspect vehicle and that the listed suspects, a black female and black male with dreads were walking towards my direction on the sidewalk. He exited my patrol vehicle and made contact with the male whom he identified.
Items were collected and returned to the store by SPO to be scanned and compiled for a monetary total value of the theft. SPO later advised that the total value of the stolen items, including items that were dropped at the store when the suspect fled, was $702.
Officer transported suspects to CCSO Jail. Due to the amount of the shoplifting being greater than $500 both suspects were charged with felony Shoplifting

You can’t prove he knew that stuff was stolen in this situation however if he went into the store you could say he was being a distraction to theft.

I remember my father getting up in the morning when it was still dark to go to his job at the factory. He went when he was tired. He went when he was sick. In winter he'd get up even earlier to shovel the driveway so he could get to work. Years later, I would think of him when I'd go to work after getting no sleep or when I didn't feel like it, so that I could get that paycheck and pay my bills. So for all the people out here who go to work every day, whether we feel like it or not, whether we love our jobs or hate them, whether we'd rather stay in bed for a few more hours, I want to thank the officers who may not know that they are appreciated for catching those who think they can take things that don't belong to them, things they didn't have to work for, and save their money for, and make sacrifices for. I'm not sure how those people sleep at night, but I do know that karma's a b**ch, and she has a long memory.

This sounds just like my daddy, my mom was not a good person and she would leave for days and my dad would work and come home to care for 7 children, my mom gave me to the neighbors nextdoor some say that was a blessing if they only knew what I went through for years both parents are dead and I still can't forgive the woman who gave birth to me, I just pray my daddy is resting in Heaven now .
I agree! My father worked so hard to provide for us. I worked and supported three children. I'm retired now but I worked so hard and never stole. The satisfaction I got from working hard was amazing. When my children were small we did not have alot of money so i had to learn to wash cloth diapers, breast feed then make homemade baby food. It's sure a lot cheaper and now that everyone is a health nut I learned that everything I did for my boys was the right thing. It's ok to do without. We bought clothes from the second hand store and I made their lunches everyday. I worked two jobs just to keep the lights on and luckily we lived in NY and didn't really need a car. My boys are really good men now and appreicate everything. It's what you do here with the time you have on this earth that counts.

Wee rarely had a school lunch, always a lunch packed for us and put in a bag for our noon lunch. My mom had 5 babies and washed cloth diapers for 4 of them. The 5th was an oops and she had gone back to work so she could then afford throw away diapers.

I notice how they seem to always need an ambulance when caught! Do they think that going to the hospital will suddenly clear them? Glad our law enforcement are arresting these thieves! One time I accidentally walked out of the store with drinks on the bottom of my cart. As soon as I got home, and realized I hadn’t paid I went back to the store the next day and paid! It wasn’t mine to keep without giving the store their money!
I walked out with tiny little batteries that I didn’t notice that was still left in my cart and saw it as I loaded up my car. I took them back to the store and paid for them. He thanked me for being honest as it’s a rare thing. I’m so frustrated hearing all of these whiny people who were busted for shoplifting or DUI or assault and they now need an ambulance (in hopes they will get out of an arrest). It’s wasting those services for people WHO ACTUALLY NEED THEM! I was a medic for 10 years and it was nothing like it is now. I’m amazed how they are never too ill to shoplift entire cartloads. Time to spend time in prison. Shoplifting is so bad because they know employees can’t go after them. On 12/12/22 a man got in my face at the store saying “do you know you have a blue cloth across your face”? After I bitched him out for getting on me about it especially since I’m immunocompramised I caught this POS shoplifting and I reported it in. He took the loot and hung at the end of the store but outside knowing he got away with it since he was already outside. Apparently that time they called police and got him arrested especially since he had been shoplifting for several days.

A lot of places in my area started to charge .10 for bags, so my family and I don’t bag up our stuff when we forget our reusable bags (which is all the time). So while they have probable cause to arrest him. I thought it was pretty gross for them to go out of their way to charge him even though the officer said multiple times “it’s possible he didn’t know the items were stolen” and “it’s pretty hard to prove he knew the items were stolen”. Like there is no concrete proof he knew, just let the guy go.
What REALLY TICKS ME OFF about these thieves is the cost of all products and even our insurance premiums are higher to cover the cost of all stolen items. I bet the cost of all store items is raised by 20% or more due to thieves! And my vehicle insurance has been raised $200 this year even though I've never had an accident or had any tickets and some of the raised rates are due to vehicle thefts!

They are probably part of an organized group. They sell the items to a fence, who sells the stuff on line, under some llc, for discounted prices. Usually get 10 to 15%.
I worked in a retail store that is now closed. We were not allowed to say anything or try to stop shoplifters. Many times one person would come in grab a large basket or clothes hamper fill it up and run out of the door to a waiting driver that was backed into the parking space near the front door. They were an accomplice to the theft….the getaway driver.

It's nice to see police taking shoplifting seriously! I was at the grocery store last night. I got 2 bags it was over $100. So unless this woman is a doctor or VP somewhere I doubt she had $1000 to spend on all that stuff she stole.
Cops never got excited over petit theft, but now they're charging with felonies, so they get credit for felony arrests. And the penalties, escalate for each additional conviction.

When I was 22/23 (10yrs ago), I worked as the Assistant Manager at Family Dollar in my hometown... I had a man who used to come in daily, nicest regular, always with 2 kids. I eventually caught on to the distraction of the kids and his theft, but couldnt catch him... right before Christmas, he came in with a woman, separately of course, so we had no idea she was with him. She was OVER THE TOP FRIENDLY, she walks every isle OVER fills a cart. Groceries, home goods, clothing, cosmetics, bath items, etc. She stands in line for maybe 30 seconds, pretends she forgot to grab something, and OUT THE DOOR she went. My cashier wanted to go after her, I told her "NO MA'AM YOU WILL NOT! ONCE THEY CROSS THESE DOORS, WE TAKE PHOTOS AND CALL THE LAW!"... My mother who has worked for our local Sheriff 32yrs now, made sure BOTH of them spent Christmas in jail!

I believe that if police can confiscate money and a car/truck due to drugs, in a commission of a crime! Then why can't they confiscate a vehicle in the crime of " shoplifting " as well, especially for repeat offenders!!!
It's possible that they could take the car under civil forfeiture for use in an ongoing criminal enterprise if they have 3 or more felony convictions. But the followup and paperwork is cumbersome.

If I got caught up because someone I was with stole stuff, I'd be beyond pissed off! Not at the cops or store workers, like so many people are, but at the person I was with. They'd want the cops to arrest them because I wouldn't be as nice to them as the cops have to be. I think he knew tho, but idk them so I can't say for certain.
Now correct me if I'm wrong but the driver is in controll of the vehicle, and just like drugs he should be able to be charged with receiving/possession of stolen goods. Just my interpretation of the law.

A friend of mine had a kid come into his store to steal stuff while his mom and dad were waiting in the get away car . They put him up to this ! Crazy times.
I have seen videos where mama uses kid as decoy or has them climb under table to lift a wallet😮

This is a result of a common Black Parenting technique, where children are left unattended inside cars for multiple hours at a time. This allows the child exploration throughout the vehicle, occasionally making contact with the steering wheel, thus honking the horn. Most parents utilize car seats, not these folk.

Wow; I honestly don’t understand how a shop lifter can pick something up and just walk right out with it without paying for it, how do they do that and not feel absolutely ashamed of themselves??
