I managed to pull a 140lbs skier out of the water without any slack in the line with a 15hp 4stroke. The key was to get weight to the front of the boat so it would barely lift off from the water
Awesome! Last weekend I skied behind a rowboat with an 8 hp two stroke! Had to pier start with slack (which hurt) but got up! Where are you in the video? So beautiful!
That's how my buddy would get up learning barefoot. We didn't have a boom. He would straddle a hydro slide until we got up to speed then he would drop the knee board.
Thanks for this vid its exactly the info I wanted I have been scouring the net for days for this answer but not being able to find it! Do you think this would work on any other inflatable boat? Because I heard zodiacs were just better/ faster anyway? But they don't make them anymore sadly.
you shoulda just told your sister to go full throttle and have her sit on the bow so the boat could get on a plane, also lowering the trim if you hadn't of done that already. I got a 12 hp and i can get up easy on it. I honestly think ur 30 was a little overpowered for a dinghy that size.

That starting from a surfboard is a really good idea

What is the minimum speed needed?
Super Cool btw!
Bet a two stroke would have made it easily. Also weight at the front at the boat.
Where did you connect the ski rope to the boat?
In my opinion, more than enough with a 30hp on a rubber duck and average person. Can do that with even 18+ hp.
rubber duck?

Wow, I really want to try this with my Takacat.
would it work better?
