One night Zoria turns up at the tavern, seriously injured. Jeanneline, panic-stricken, heaps care and attention on her. Meanwhile Gwizdo discovers a very juicy contract in Zoria’s pocket. Apparently she was busy hunting a dragon by the name of Oroti. The contract promises 2000 guineas for each severed head of an eight-headed dragon. The dragon hunters decide to set out in search of Oroti: Lian-Chu to avenge Zoria and Gwizdo to line his pockets with gold.
With the hunters away, Jeanneline and Zoria start working through unfinished business. Their mother-and-daughter issues are far from resolved. Meanwhile our hunters discover that the eight-headed dragon had been tamed by a magician by the name of Yamatono. After the magician’s death the dragon was on its own to pillage the region.
A young boy by the name of Sanowo disobeys his mother and enters the dragon’s lair where he finds a curious pendant. Suddenly the boy can command Oroti. Could it be that this is the secret artifact that tames the creature? Now Sanowo is determined to protect his newfound dragon friend and prevent the hunters from defeating the beast.
