Young Zaza brings back to her room a strange little creature she has found half-conscious in the forest. When she discovers that her daughter has brought back the creature, Jeanneline goes mad. There is no way Zaza can keep that beast at the house. Zaza insists. She wants to keep her little Jojo as she calls him. Jeanneline is uncompromising: if Zaza is to keep the creature, the creature will have to be kept outside.
Shortly after, Zaza is sad to discover that her little Jojo has disappeared and obviously been eaten by a predator. Lian-Chu tries to reassure Zaza by explaining that beings never really die, they live on in the things around us. His poetic vision turns out to be true, when suddenly dozens of Jojos appear from everywhere.
The mystery is revealed when our hunters find out that Jojo is not an animal but a carnivorous plant. When Zaza gave Jojo something to drink, she effectively watered it and enabled it to multiply. But soon the tavern island is overwhelmed by thousands of Jojos who become increasingly threatening.
