I opened a restaurant called Amor fati because I believe it has the power to keep my parents in a good mind set and be excited for the days magic. Thank you for everything. I wish I could send a pic hehe
At 60 years old, The Obstacle is the Way and Marcus Aurelius' Meditations have done more to help me appreciate all things that come my way, i.e. money, deaths, kids, etc. IMO, there is no better way to live than to practice Stoicism in every thought.
It's incredible how "The Obstacle is the Way" and Marcus Aurelius' "Meditations" can profoundly shape our perspective. Embracing Stoicism in every thought indeed offers a powerful and enriching way to navigate life, especially with its teachings on resilience and appreciation for all experiences.
I got one of these coins by accident. I was walking by the side of the road and saw this coin sitting on the side of the pavement. It attracted me instantly and I took it. I have been searching in the internet about it ever since and stumbled upon this video.
Went back to watch Ryans first video. And its inspiring to see his progress in front of the camera! You can really feel his confidence watching his videos in 2023! Thank you for your content Ryan!
Same! I just did it yesterday. It's truly inspiring to witness his growth and increased confidence in front of the camera over the years. Thank you, Ryan, for the valuable content and the positive impact you've had on us!
I don't necessarily love everything that happens to me in that particular second, but, in retrospect, I like the things that happened to me, because if things had not gone that way, even the bad things, especially things, I wouldn't be the person that I am today.
Ego is the enemy,The daily stoic,The obstacle is the way.I love to have these 3 books from Ryan.i ordered for "The obstacle is the way" already.i know i will eventually have the other two some day.My Reactions to some daily life situations has improved since i started studying stoicism. It never occurred to me i cant control external situations and i used to drain and waste my energy instead of conserving them on that which i can change.Thank to nature i found you.
I completely agree with this concept of "amor fati." It's not just about accepting what happens, but genuinely embracing and loving it, even when it's challenging. Like Edison and his burning factory, adversity can invigorate us if we choose to see it that way. This Stoic mindset is a powerful tool for personal growth and resilience. Embracing life's twists and turns is the path to becoming the best version of ourselves.
I think it's more of acceptance and being at peace with what ever happens , and having the strength to deal with and, to say hold on and fill the unforgiving minute with 60 seconds worth of distance run , never yield , accept our fate but to deal with on our terms and not go gently into that good night
that's exactly what islam taught me.search "keeping faith in qadr" and whatever happens". islam tecahes me that, happiness is temporary, only satisfaction can provide peace. don't be angry, just wanted to share
Man, a friend just sent me your channel. I never studied this, and I know how it feels now... That is so weird. I have to watch all your videos now... And nice art too. :)
Amor Fati "Don't try to fight What's not your fault Let go, reach out The choice is yours to find Inside you've got The light to guide Your fate decides The roads you're going to find Relax, slow down Let hope decide Even though it's hard to forget When you can't afford love Chasing all your thoughts you know that You'll be all right in time Inside you've got The light to guide Your fate decides The roads your going to find Inside you've got The light to guide Your fate decides The roads you're going to find" Greene Ernest Weatherly
I'm very new to stoicism. But it seems to me the whole point of Amor Fati is not really to literally "love" your fate, but to accept what happens and make the most of any situation even though the fate may not be loveable at all. I think it's about resilience. Also, it's about being mindful to notice any silver linings. Otherwise, I would find it morally objectionable. For example... Suppose someone were born into slavery. Should they be told to "love their fate"? Absolutely not. But they may be able to find resilience in the face of extreme oppression.
Just came across your channel ( I saw Jocko Willink) I love the work he does mean he is an amazing person and I listen his podcast and also read some of his book! It’s beautiful to see people like him sharing knowledge and wisdom with the world and humanity! I am excited to explore your channel just listened video where you have Jacko W!
Call me a retard, but I'm a poor student and I bought this coin + shipping for £30. Daily Stoic sells a lot of different items, but something about this coin and this saying had me enchanted. I'll make an attempt at bringing it with me and cherishing the wisdom contained within the saying itself. It does relate to a lot of things in my life. This is a random reply, but it is real. Some dark rum and cranberry juice do help the process of channelling thoughts into a RUclips comment. I'll leave it at that. Thanks for the insights, I'm a very big fan of Robert Greene. He has genuinely changed the course of my life in certain ways.
Dealing with the unnecessary can be challenging. One approach is to focus on cultivating discernment. Prioritize what truly matters, and practice letting go of what doesn't contribute to your well-being or goals.
I keep looking for an explanation that isn't "when bad things happen, embrace it," but instead illustrates it something like "whether you're a billionaire who bangs supermodels or you're on death row with painful late-stage cancer, you should love and appreciate the experience life has given you." I don't know that an extremely fortunate man necessarily loves his fate, and it might be useful for him to contemplate it as well as someone hit hard by tragedy.
ha ha..i love this.i do this all the time 'cos another way of looking at it is....always look on the bright side of life when faced with crap OR every cloud has a silver lining. The latin Amor Fati however is succint.I've just remembered another one...what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.By the way...I'm a sucker, as I've bought the medallion[just a minute ago!]...I wish the necklace was cheaper as $89 is rather steep.Perhaps you could make them in sterling silver...a little more stylish.
I actually tried to order this coin from your website. Great coin. Ordered one for my boss, who's going through hell, and one for me. Your website sent me two of the "Memento Mori" coin instead. Which is hilarious, because my boss is despondent to the point of suicide.. you guys sent him a coin that literally translates to "Remember you will die." Worse, when I spoke to customer service by email, they said they won't replace them until I go to the trouble of figuring out how to mail the incorrect coins you sent me back to you. No apology either, which is really what sealed my opinion on you guys. Hyper unprofessional. Who is totally ready to forgive you guys and let the whole thing go if your team wasn't super dismissive. I threw them in the trash. Great message, but it means nothing coming from people that don't actually embody what they profess. Shame too. Ordered a bunch of stuff from your website previous to this incident. Used to be a huge fan.
How has the idea of "amor fati" helped you?
Has made me strengthen my inner peace, waking up in the morning and calming my mind knowing whatever happens happens

soooo......accept life as it is as a complete and total whole? ok i can do that.

A nice thing to remind yourself of what's important

This holds so much power.
I really appreciate that you take the time to make these videos Ryan, thank you!

Amor Fati
"Don't try to fight
What's not your fault
Let go, reach out
The choice is yours to find
Inside you've got
The light to guide
Your fate decides
The roads you're going to find
Relax, slow down
Let hope decide
Even though it's hard to forget
When you can't afford love
Chasing all your thoughts you know that
You'll be all right in time
Inside you've got
The light to guide
Your fate decides
The roads your going to find
Inside you've got
The light to guide
Your fate decides
The roads you're going to find"

Love you so much Ryan! You’re a legend. Love from 🇮🇳
I just found my new favorite RUclips channel. Keep up the great work.

He has genuinely changed the course of my life in certain ways.
To be honest, I can usually bear what’s necessary. The unnecessary is where I struggle.

whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger...another borrowing from Nietzsche...just in case you were interested...
Thanks🙏
Embrace the suck! Great job.
I prefer the phrase "embrace your fate".
Which of the stoic coins are your favorite Ryan? Which phrases mean the most to you? Do you carry any of them with you daily?
Wow. Nietzsche wouldn't agree on this (he denied the stoics). But still awesome I'll buy that coin for good faith
I believe this is one of his favorite concepts though he wrote that Amor Fati is key to ones greatness.
Background music is NOISE
The fire that burned Edison's factory is much like the pandemic that crushed my startup. I need this coin. I'm going to buy it right now.
Amor Fati and memento Mori are two words I want to Tatoo on my body ASAP
You know, in the Army we say "Embrace the Suck". Same thing.
Story of the Chinese Farmer is totally amor fati.
💘
Would love to see it in .9999 silver. 😬
Amor Fati and Memento Mori is your friend
Thus my channel name

Have they resolved the issue yet?
Y'all are masochists
