i can also imagine it'd get hot after a bunch of people have been moving around in that room for a while. i don't get motion-sick but a fan aimed at my face keeps my headset from overheating because it doesn't have a built in fan.
The fans help with motion sickness. I do this when playing to keep from getting as sick. It also helps with positioning yourself in your play space which also helps with motion sickness.
Dramamine ….. cheap drug at cvs that eliminates motion sickness but over time your brain we adjust to vr and you won’t need it but I went from 10 min before I had to take it off to hours with Dramamine
Force yourself to play it through the motion sickness and eventually it goes away and you don’t get it anymore. You can also take motion sickness pills. I use them on roller coasters at great America, they work.
Yeah I did this exact thing in L.A for part of my bday. Fun experience but, its short lived, graphics suck (like a 3D ps2 game), and they get mad if you get creative and put the gun between ur legs, jerk ur gun off like its a pen15, and dry hump fire till the zombies drop. All in all, make sure there's someone who isnt a Karen watching you play
Interesting to read about the fans! I always turned mine on too when playing but didn't realize why I did. Seems I subconsciously noticed how it helped me orient myself. I just thought it made Blade and Sorcery feel more realistic -- which I guess is part of it after all! Crazy how well our brains can process multiple things, especially when having a point of reference like this.
The fans are to help with orientation while in VR as well as motion sickness because they are all blowing in one direction, which gives you a sense of where you are in the real world.
If you play amber skies they use the fans as part of the experience. There's a giant aircraft or something iirc and the fans kick on making you feel like the aircraft is blowing you back
I don't know if i've been to the same place, but it was 2 years ago or maybe 3 that a group of friends and i went to try that. We also had a zombie game (did not look the same), the rooms looked like that and the equipment looked like that. I have to believe it was the same company. When i tell you the lag was so bad they changed our battery packs, restarted the system, and then said there was nothing more they could do, it did really ruin the experience. By the end of it, we were taking turns dying because the game didn't register our movements in real time and i was almost robotically moving the "gun" in my hands to a point, counting to 2, then firing, then after another second would move again. We collectively decided we'd give the software and hardware another half decade at least before trying again Other peiple were doing something like a haunted house thing and we could hear them screaming for real, but most of what we were saying to each other was colored from frustration rather than excitement or fear.
@@Willehy i bought this circular mat from amazon it really helps me because instead of using the crouch button in games like ghost of Tabor i like to actually kneel but it also allows me to stay in place because I don’t wander off the circle. Its great if you have a small area
Not around anymore but there used to be Void VR. It had a marvel, star wars, and jumanji game and each one allowed you to actually touch the walls and tables and walk through the whole thing.
@@SAABguyMD we are extrem early in this tech. When u think of the speed of evolution than we could say its a new technology, bcuz they made vr 25years ago and stopped evolving... So yea in my mind it is a new technology, i could explained it a lot better but i have other priorities
@@DiamondDepthYT computers have changed in the last 40 years, just because my first computer was a commodore 64 doesn't mean I didn't use a computer when I was 7 years old. So I will respectfully disagree with that statement.
The actual real reason behind the fans is that they're there for immersion purposes. If a helicopter takes off or a gust of wind blows in a game, the fans will go off.
The arm and wrist pieces have these little balls on them that the cameras use to track your location. I did something like this and we were warned not to hit or move them once in place or it would mess up our experience, and i will tell you the backpacks are not light so you wouldn't be doing flips and tricks in them anyways
Any vr game that moves the character forward without my actual body moving forward or basically any direction makes me sick. But super hot was perfect, I felt fine
You'll get used to it with regular practice, dw! It's like driving a car for the first time. Many people get motion sick when they drive a car for the first time, but if you do it often you'll be fine.
My first experience with sandbox vr was dreadful because i had already been playing on the quest 2 headset, it kinda sucked because there were a whole bunch of tracking issues, visual issues and comfort issues, it was unbearable
Sandbox VR was terrible when I went last year. I went to the Vegas location in a group of 6. My equipment kept malfunctioning. My display would freeze or shut off literally every 20 seconds and would require a full reboot from the staff to get back up and running. It would then break after another 20 seconds. During the few seconds I was able to play, my weapons would not load in, so I couldn't actually do anything. I also experienced horrible frame rates for those few seconds, like under 10 fps. The rest of my group was complaining about low frame rates (playable but no higher than 40fps) and poor body tracking. Sandbox was kind enough to refund our visit, though.
I’ve come to 3 statements 1) to cool the computer down 2) to cool yourself down 3) to see how close you are to the wall (and a sense of direction) Or maybe all 3
The fans help you with motion sickness and also show how close you are to a wall if the fans are loud your close to them if not then your far away that type of stuff when I got into vr I did this a couple times so I wouldn’t accidentally hit my walls 😂
The fans are literally just to keep things cooled off. As many vr headsets alone causes over heating. I could only imagine how hot they were with all that gear on!
The fans help with orientation and motion sickness in vr bc it's always blowing the same direction
Yeah I have a fan running when I play vr
Yup! Very well known fact.
i can also imagine it'd get hot after a bunch of people have been moving around in that room for a while. i don't get motion-sick but a fan aimed at my face keeps my headset from overheating because it doesn't have a built in fan.
Or it can be for more immersion like fans in arcade shooter games
its good immersion for racing games especially
The fans give your body a point of reference to know which direction you’re facing in the real world. Even if it’s subconsciously
Also keep you a bit cooler with all that gear on.
He asks you to explain it so he gets more engagement on the video. Just an FYI hopefully less people fall for this shitty tactic lol
The fans help with motion sickness. I do this when playing to keep from getting as sick. It also helps with positioning yourself in your play space which also helps with motion sickness.
Playing vr with a fan has the opposite effect for me. It makes me sick.

Totally worth it
That's cheap compared to actually buying a gaming apC and Vr headset, controllers and trackers lol. How broke are u if u got a problem with that?
It’s actually $50-$55 a person!
Yep it's a huge money maker

Let me tell you what the fans are for...
Fans help with motion sickness and orientation. So if you have a VR headset and tend to get motionsick, just set up a fan in your play area! :)
The fans help you survive when the Headset explodes, just like my PC…
I went to Sandbox VR earlier this year in San Francisco. I loved it.
The fans are there to keep the whole place cool and help reduce motion sickness
*Futuristic Lobby looks like a normal self check-in stand at a random office in a Dollar Tree shopping center.*
If you play amber skies they use the fans as part of the experience. There's a giant aircraft or something iirc and the fans kick on making you feel like the aircraft is blowing you back
the fans are to show you which way youre looking and ground you in reality so you dont get motion sick
The fans are for motion sickness like people were saying, but it would be so incredibly hot without them too. I was sweating like crazy with them.
Funny story, me and my brother went to the same place and we played the exact same game with the exact same setup.
Was it worth it?
Sooooooooo cool
You shoulda rolled like a dark souls character
Imagine the rats part, tha floor actually spawns a squishy mouse when you stomp as part of the experience. 😳
I did this too. It was crazy. I was freaking out haha
How much for how long?
I find a fan makes vr more immersive, for instance Gt7 with a fan in your face makes it feel more real.
the reason for fans is to keep you cool, i’m always sweating mad when i play vr
I’ve actually been here for my birthday!

Great vids keep it up
New sub
That looks very fun
They played dead wood mansion
I can't fucking wait for the day where you enter VR and actually sprint around and dolphin dive for cover.
There are fans on the wall to imply vivid and realistic feeling while playing on specific circumstances. It is to orientate the gameplay 😅
Yooooo I went to the same place I tried the squid games one it was epic
Just imagine doing big jumps around the room and fight Like your in tomb raider...
Like back flipping after flipping and shooting... 😅
Imagine playing a fnaf game and u where being springlocked
When I went to sandbox, we did some type of adventure one, but we heard people screaming in the area next to us 😂

The fans give a sense of speed I’m pretty sure
