- Its Left 4 Dead 2s 13th Birthday and to celebrate the speedrunning community has come together to do a 12 man race of the games most punishing and cursed speedrun category, expert realism all campaigns legacy. how many will finish? how many will survive? how many will have fun, probably no one.

I am not familiar with all these speedrunners, so it would help a lot if I got some indicator who I am watching among the cuts from one one to another. A name in the corner or something to make it easier to see whose PoV I am watching at the moment.

My form of "speedrunning" is just playing like regular while ignoring things I usually grab.
"DUR! SPEEMDRUMN! AM GUD NOW!"
That's exactly how every single route in any speed run starts
I die a little inside every time my Expert brain points out the presence of knowledge (biles are important/required) or the lack of knowledge (Surviving the Hospital Elevator is easiest in the far left room)
And yet I still cannot fathom how anyone could complete some of these maps with _only a Magnum._

8/12 finished is actually solid for such a niche and long run!
Fun fact: the AI Director loves spawning Special Infected near those who are alone.
It’s to discourage you from abandoning or hindering your allies!
Also, specifically on Expert difficulty, the Director _will_ try to spawn The Witch in front of required locations.
Now I wonder if it’s possible if Co-Operative speedruns could be valid, if _everyone_ submits a run…
Co-op speedruns are allowed, everyone has to record though
I was in advanced with 3 guys the AI director put us a witch in front of the safe house at the of the second level of Dark Carnival.

Somehow I feel like Dark Carnival’s an exception to the Expert Witch placement rule. I feel that.

@@carljohan9265 I got past Dark Carnival with the help of a few randoms but I can't get past Swamp Fever let alone Hard rain
@@carljohan9265 so difficult, what makes it so hard is the terrain is often weird with no clear corners or choke points which makes common pathing just completely surround you instead of funneling. Even a small group of like 10 can just completely take you out if you get caught in a bad way.
The steady stream of infected make the finale next to impossible for this reason.
The best strategy I find is to immediately rush the cans down on the beach, bile once you get back up the stairs, and grab the others along the way. Using pipe bombs as necessary.
Difficult to get randoms to coordinate that though.

wide open areas where commons can surround you, tight corner areas where they can ambush you, a myriad of witches who can all insta-kill you and can't be crowned (because of realism), loads of movement speed slowing water (have fun playing with a tank while trudging through that), and the combo of almost complete blindness, deafness and a horde attacking you.
Then a smoker drags someone of into the distance and you lose sight of him completely 😁
Not as bad as it is in L4D1

I pretty much exclusively play expert realism, a single campaign can take me 2 hours if I get shit luck and am stuck with bots or bad teammates. A 5 hr run of all campaigns is nuts

I feel like I should start speedrunning this game. I basically only play expert realism now in pub lobbies and started using the awp or mac10 only because the game just got too easy

Something I figured out not too long ago; if you spam the AFK option while going down the elevator in the Passing finale it will also cause the event to not start.

Ok, so: expert difficulty, realism mutation, all campaigns is all campaigns, Legacy means just the original campaigns that first came out with L4D2(?), solo means no bots or other players and speed run is go fast.
Did I get that right?
i dont know all therms but solo just means without other players, bots are still ok(its just faster to kill them)

10:18 bro went one man army mode. It reminds me of when my friends daughter and friend played left for dead on advanced. I heard straight screaming from the other room so I came in and shes in that small room with the small room before you have to break the window alarm at dead center. She's playing with her flash light off and a hourd is in coming. Only a full hp Rochelle was there with her my friends daughter died. She was panicking so mush she got to Grey. I asked if I could take over and she handed me the controller fast. She had one adrenaline on her so I popped it when I hit the glass. I'm on consol so no bunny hopping. I had ran up the side of the escalate ninja style forgot to mention by this point she only had daul pistols. I was relying heavily on Rochelle and she was really coming in clutch with her literal aim bot. I made it to the room with the guns and bought the daughter back and I hand her the controller and watch her get smacked by a common in second. Good times.

Yep. This is is very hard. Dark carnival is near impossible with experienced players let alone bots

i didnt know this till i watched a video but did you know in dead center if you take a gas can in dead center to the finale throw it down near the car before you go down the elevator you can use it to fuel the car wonder if that could save time in a speedrun?
