I always find your unboxings, insights into the photography and printing/constructing aspects of releases, as well as your custom sleeves fascinating. Looking forward to this!
The Avedon photos were first published in "Life" or "Look" magazine. "People" magazine didn't exist until, at soonest, the 1970s.
The one speaker guitar intro on Day Tripper is in the US Albums box set.Yesterday and Today.
ah, I'll have to ask someone to lend me their copy so I can listen to it. The US Albums box set used mostly mixes from the 2009 remasters (apart from significant differences like the false starts on "I'm Looking Through You") so I assumed they used the same version on Past Masters for "Day Tripper".
Thank you for that very detailed comparison. I was aware that the 1+ Blu-Ray had been released and the songs mixed in 5.1 but I didn't pay much attention to it at the time because I don't have a surround sound system. I only recently learned that the album had also been remixed in stereo in 2015. 1 is still the best Beatles compilation to date and I would have honestly preferred an expanded vinyl release of 1+ or an entirely new compilation rather than a remix of the Red and Blue albums. Of course, that didn't stop me from buying them again this week.
you're welcome. funny, I didn't plan on going as detailed as it turned out, maybe an 8-minute video-after all, the artwork on the 3 editions are literally the same. Just went totally off-script and decided to keep it.
I agree, 1 still holds up well even in the presence of bigger releases, and the perfect gateway for people who want to get into the rabbit hole that is The Beatles discography.
Excellent and unique insight in to this release. Thank you!
Thanks for this. I bought 1+ for the newer version of 'Real Love' alone! I'd heard it on The Beatles Channel on Sirius and loved the enhanced opening to the song. All the other tracks in 5.1 sound great, too.
I bought the original in 2000. I like this compilation. Thanks for sharing comparing the reissues. Good information. 👍
Very interesting.
Great channel you have.

I have got the 2000 CD and the 1+ Blueray. Thanks for the insight.
That was 🔥, can't wait for your next upload!
My favorite pictute sleeve is HELP the American Capitol. The Beatles on a beach.I eventually bought a blue chambray shirt similar to the one George is wearing.I was disappointed this cover wasn't used for the singles boxset.
Great video and insight, where did you get the plastic sleeves for long box packages
thanks! re: sleeve, it's a comic book sleeve that I've cut to size using a heat sealer.
What about the CD and single DVD version with the yellow cover and red 1?
Will you do video about the red and blue albums?
That's on the pipeline, just waiting for the hype to die down a bit so I can get the slipcased set without paying too much.
❤💛💙
The most recent edition is not from 2015 but from 2017 in CD Format
There was a 2017 EU re-pressing of the 2015 edition, yes. Is there any difference in content that makes it a new edition?
@@tapsilogic Since the original edition of the year 2000 in Jewel case format and leaving aside the Japanese versions that are more recurrent in their releases, there is only the first version in digipack format from 2011, 2015 and 2017, which, strictly speaking, these last three are almost identical only with the difference that the one from 2011 has the Apple logo on its left side on its cover
@rodrigotamayo6069 nope. the three CD versions of 1, as discussed in the video:
2000 - first edition, jewel case. completely new master. never released in digipak, digisleeve, or cardstock packaging
2011 - second edition, digisleeve. uses the 2009 remasters.
2015 - third edition, digisleeve. uses new MIXES made by Giles Martin prepared for the 1+ campaign (which also included 5.1 and later, Atmos mixes). Also features a modified front cover art distinctly different from the 2011 edition.
Also:
- the only versions of 1 that were released in digipak were the 2-disc edition (yellow colorway, CD + BD or DVD) and the 1+ on BD or DVD + CD + book. the 2011 and 2015 editions were released as digisleeves.
- the only major Beatles release in 2017 was the Sgt Pepper super deluxe edition.
- before my first reply, I checked discogs if there was another version of 1 that was released in 2017; there wasn't.
I'd appreciate it if you can provide proof of your claim regarding this 2017 edition. a discogs entry or a photo of the sleeve that clearly indicates a 2017 phonographic copyright (the ℗ symbol) would be acceptable.
@@tapsilogic So we will conclude that the 2017 version on digisleeve is a reissue of the 2015 album mixed by Giles. What I wrote previously, making a mistake, seems to be whether it is Digipak or digisleeve, in my view, becomes a tiny detail, but I recognize that you were very involved in the search to answer me and that is appreciated on your part. In short, between the original release in 2000 until the 2017 reissue, several versions have been released, whether new versions and reissues of the same, whether on vinyl, single CD with DVD or Blueray and with yellow cover included. Finally, I never said that the 2000 version had been released in another format other than jewel case. The important thing is that for those who like to purchase different editions and formats, there is a wide range of these available that can be reviewed on Discogs.
A repress would be more accurate. I think the confusion stemmed from considering each pressing as an edition or version of the album, when in fact there were only three; an edition/version can have multiple pressings. Take for example the 1987 CDs - the 1992 copies that sported the Apple logo were the same editions, just later pressings.
I suppose you could consider the 1+ packages as separate versions (red on yellow, blue on red), but the CD was exactly the same as the standalone 2015 digisleeve and they were all released under the same campaign.
Actually the first publication of the whole set of posters (4 color photos + a black and white horizontal photo of the four Beatles together) were released in 1968 by The Apple Shop at Carnaby Street, and the first edition printed for the Daily Express!
PJ Proby Please release me kept Strawberry fields off the number one spot
It was actually Englebert Humperdinck. Same song, though.
@@shotfan AHH yes correct 🤣
Why do people keep buying compilations full of songs they already have?
it’s fun! usually because of mix / master variations, that’s more of an audiophile thing.
You don't collect vinyl? That is totally blasphemous in the physical media music world today lol
The 1+ BR Deluxe can still be grabbed for around £35 new in the UK. I'd say its a 'must have' for Beatles fans.
