Lol. I love how excited you are by the results. That is the best feeling when stuff comes out great. I bought one of these today. Like I don't have enough mugs, but I needed one of these. So excited!!
Hi Matthew! I love your results! Thought you might want to know that the base glaze for Mayco’s Sea Salt is Alabaster. So there is not much difference anyway- Sea Salt results in a background of Alabaster with crystals that look like flecks of salt. And if you are going hotter then cone 5/6 they are going to look even more alike. That accounts for how similar they look, I think. 🙂
OMG THESE ARE SOO AMAZING!!! As always of course but when I see you’re pots with glazes that I actually have and use it makes me soo excited and inspired!! I am the exact same way about filing my kiln!!
I really enjoyed you kiln opening. Amazing work and glazing. I have just started to combine my studio glazes with commercial glazes. I’m a chicken when it comes to trying out strontium crystal magic BUT I blew the bundle (US dollars to CA ouch! lol!) and bought some Advancer shelves. I’m actually really excited. Thanks for sharing.🇨🇦
Sorry, I should have taken and inserted some still shots. I’m thinking of taking some photos to make a separate short video of just still shots from this firing.
Matthew, I couldn't see the buzz and had to try and listen for it. The whole load looks so crisp and sharp! Someone is going to be really pleased with their set of bowls. Enjoyed! Love the rabbit and Kirby Cheers and be well...Freddie
Thanks Matthew, absolutely beautiful work! Thanks so much for sharing your experience and knowledge with us. That strontium and green tea combination is out of this world!! Do you use the warm or the cool recipe?
Love these videos!! One thought, could you try holding the carved items steady in front of the camera for a moment without spinning them around right away? It's hard to appreciate the depth of color when it's in motion. But feel free to tell me to kick rocks ;)
Yes I should have. I’m still getting used to using the wide angle setting and I’m not sure how close to put the pots to the camera. Holding them steady is also a good idea or adding still shots into the video but I haven’t taken any yet.
Hello Mr. Energie . I know how you feel . Greetings from "Deisterpottery" (Deistertöpferei) The "Deister" is a wooden ridge about 30km south south west of Hannover .
What cone to you glaze fire at? At our community college we fire reduction cone 6 and I'd love to use a few if the May co glazes. Beautiful results - thanks for sharing the unloading.
As many of your videos as I've watched, I have a hard time determining how big some of your work is for the amount of clay used. Are these little vases you're unloading your one lb. vases? Beautiful stuff as usual!
Hi Matthew, why is the glaze always more spectacular on the inside of the mug than on the outside.? Sometimes outside is great but the inside is always more!!!!
Nice video and there is no buzz. The red with the rutile blue is neat. Did you use Stephen hills strontium crystal magic (instead of your own on these? I have his cone 6 version and it works well kinda tricky. Seem to have a tad better results mixing the mayco light and dark flux with the copper red to produce similar to yours. On the ones with the rutile blue, it looked like your lining up the red and rutile instead of laying it. (Probably wrong but), interesting to know. Definitely a new idea for me to test here shortly.
Steven Hill first formulated a high temp SCM that I use. Now he uses the mid range recipes. The rutile blue is dipped up to and slightly over the red but not overlapped as much as others that are layered. You are correct.
Wow! Awesome results. IS the copper red by Mayco or something you make? And what about the crystal magic? Did you make that or is it commercial? Your kids do good work too!
The red I mix myself. Copper reds require a reduction atmosphere to turn red. The strontium crystal magic is publicly available. Steven Hill is the one who is most well known for that glaze.
There is a software to fix audio… RX8 by a company called Izotope. They have 3 different versions but Elements version is normally about $29 but you may need a DAW software also to be able to use it. Just an FYI… the buzz wasn’t really loud enough to bother me.
I remember hearing a someone say that if your pot can’t handle a thermal shock from coming out at 300°-400°F then it was never good in the first place.
I don’t really understand the excitement about the strontium crystal magic. It just looks like a brownish cream to me, but maybe the details of it don’t translate well to video?
Like Christmas morning and you got everything you wished for! Awesome!
Not a single dud- not even the drippies-gorgeous all. Thanks as usual for a great video.
Those are some amazing colors! Congratulations on a great kiln unloading
Great idea with combination pots for charity 💞
Lol. I love how excited you are by the results. That is the best feeling when stuff comes out great. I bought one of these today. Like I don't have enough mugs, but I needed one of these. So excited!!
Beautiful glaze combinations!! Love the video!!

Absolutely beautiful- every piece you unloaded!!! Amazing art pieces as far as I’m concerned. Love watching all of your videos. You bless my day.
All amazing. Your work is always beautiful. You must be magic. I've never had crystals in Mayco Alabaster.
Love kiln openings!!!!!
Those carved mugs!!!! Are AMAZING!
Absolutely amazing!!! Those carved mugs are amazing...

I do love green tea, especially on dark clay
I’d love a combo mug, u both are great!
I just love the sound of the "tinks" while unloading warm pots!
Awesome opening! Always a pleasure.
outstanding glazing. So many winners
Green tea and strontium - wow!
Awesome kiln load Matthew!

I was wondering if this was the case!
OMG THESE ARE SOO AMAZING!!! As always of course but when I see you’re pots with glazes that I actually have and use it makes me soo excited and inspired!! I am the exact same way about filing my kiln!!
Oh that copper red is GORGEOUS! We definitely need two mugs in it. 🤞🏼come on June 11th
And I love the red vase too 😍

I made the mistake of doing a video at a show with my Square plugged in....total loss! Great opening...thanks!
I have tinnitus. I hear buzzing all the time lol... Great work.
Oooh I was really waiting fir the close ups at the end of the video!! Beautiful as always though.
Sorry, I should have taken and inserted some still shots. I’m thinking of taking some photos to make a separate short video of just still shots from this firing.
Just watched JTP and he is making his base like you and now I tune into you and you open the video like him. :) Two greats rubbing off on one another
😂 yep
Amazing

Thanks Matthew, absolutely beautiful work! Thanks so much for sharing your experience and knowledge with us. That strontium and green tea combination is out of this world!! Do you use the warm or the cool recipe?
The recipe I use is his original recipe for high temp. He re-formulated it to make his new mid range recipes

I fire to cone 11. The Mayco glazes will definitely work at cone 6 also
As many of your videos as I've watched, I have a hard time determining how big some of your work is for the amount of clay used. Are these little vases you're unloading your one lb. vases? Beautiful stuff as usual!
Yes those were 1lb vases except the first vase was a 2lb vase
Are you spraying on the mayco too or brushing?
I only dipped them
Hi Matthew, why is the glaze always more spectacular on the inside of the mug than on the outside.? Sometimes outside is great but the inside is always more!!!!
That’s is so often the case with my pots... the atmosphere inside the piece can be different than the outside.

Much different firing, especially the glazes, but still great pieces as usual. Was this a cone 6 firing?
No this was cone 11

Mate awesome work. Congrats. Do you sell to Europe?
International shipping is an option when I sell online.

Boyayı nasıl yapıyorsunuz
slow down in front of the camera so we can really see the colors!
Sorry about that. I was excited. I’ll start adding still shots into the unloading videos. I just have to take the stills before editing the video.
I know you said before, but I wanted to know, what is the clay body? And does it have grog.
What's the story with the kiln slab propped up in the background?
Just the bottom to an older electric kiln. I’m holding on to the shell of the old kiln. Maybe one day I’ll make an updraft soda kiln ...
@@MatthewKellyPottery I too have an old electric kiln that I'd like to convert into a soda kiln.
What is “___________ crystal magic” glaze ?
Strontium crystal magic
Where can I find it

For me it’s definitely the details that the glaze causes when layered with other glazes. By itself its ugly and also if I use too much it can be bad
