I love bleed proof white for an opaque white in watercolor. It covers better than gouache and can be tinted other colors. It comes in a small jar. It isn’t an ink. Hope that helps.
I really like the hot press painting, but the cold press is lovely too….I like Molotow pens and have found them very good. Some are refillable too. Thanks for sharing!
So nice! I like the cold press one much better. The colours tend to play with each other and with my eyes, rather than mixing up. The hot press is nice more for a background than a colour theme. The doodles are great in both. Like a keyhole inviting both to open and look through
Very beautiful abstracts Kim! Your channel just came up on my RUclips feed today so I’m a brand spanking new subscriber. Looking forward to watching your other videos. My favorite pens are the Uniball Signo and Sakura Micron. Thank you for sharing. Blessings to you!
Hi. Love your doodles, I find the process so relaxing myself and like watching how each one turns out. I've used loads of white inks but so far keep going back to the Sakura white gel pen in size 10. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos
Thank you Les, there is definitely something relaxing about both doing doodles and watching someone else doing doodles isn't there?! Mmm I am sure I had a white Sakura gel pen in my stash! I need to pull that out and give it a go! Thanks for the suggestion.
I’m so glad you enjoy making videos because I so enjoy watching yours!! I love both of these creations, especially the one on the left. I love the pink section through the middle and how your black doodle contrasts with it.
+Monica Garcia 😀😀😀 Thank you Monica, that is great to hear! That pink really works doesn't it? I'm a little obsessed with this colour palette at the moment. You can't see in the video, unfortunately, as my camera can't pick it up but the gold colour has a nice sparkle to it too. ❤️
I love both of them!😍 The white pen I have found the best so far is called gelli roll 10 from officeworks. I only discovered it by accident when I went to buy a marker and I'm loving using it. 😊
I am enjoying your videos very much. My favourite white pen is a Uniball Signo white gel pen and a jar of Dr. Ph Martins Bleed-proof white that is great. I happened to get a jar of Daler Rowney Bleed-proff white "LUMA" opaque watercolour from a friend but I haven't tried it yet.
Thank you Brenda, I am glad you are enjoying the videos. And thanks for the ink suggestions. I've not tried either of those so I shall keep my eyes out for them!
Hello, thank you so much for your tutorials. I do a geometric version (I’m a perfectionist so free hand will drive me nuts!) of your watercolour doodles and I swear by posca pens both the broad and fine tip versions. I’ve tried some cheaper versions of acrylic paint pens and these have been successful but did on a occasion did blob the paint rather than glide it out, this mainly happened if I didn’t prime the pen properly first. I find gel pens do tend to clog and run out very quickly, I’ve never had much joy from them but I have bought cheap ones. You get what you pay for!!
Really enjoyed this. I would love to find a white pen that keeps working and shows up on top of paint or collage. I have used Posca paint pen but it works for a very short time. Gel pens ditto. Very frustrating.
Hi Kim. I really like the hot press version. But also love the design on the cold press. With white inks, well, I think they have a personal vendetta against me! More than once my posca has let me down. Love my sharpie and the signo.. But I guess it depends on the surface is. X
+Karen Toms you and me both Karen! I think I've found a good one then it dies on me after a couple of uses! I like the Sharpie too but it is really hard to find for me sometimes. *Sigh! Glad you liked the projects today, thank you!
For white ink, I like to use airbrush paint. I use Createx but I am sure any airbrush paint will do. Air brush paints are very highly pigmented liquid acrylics. I don't paint with an airbrush, just use them as regular paints.
LOVE your videos so much. Both of these pieces are amazing. I especially love the way the colors look ok the hot press paper. Your doodles are awesome too. :)
+Tara Eastman thanks Tara, I am really glad you are enjoying them and it's wonderful to hear! I think I made the colors a little stronger on the hot press, it kind of works doesn't it 😂 😂 the pink really pops!
Hi. I find both pieces to be very beautiful. Dr.PH Martin has a white ink in a jar that is supposed to be the very best opaque white ink around. I have not bought any yet but it is on my list of must have's. hope that helps. I love watching your videos.
Thank you and thanks for the suggestion that's great. I'm now using the Schminke Areo color Acrylic ink Supra-white which is a great opaque (I tested it out at the end of this video: bit.ly/2GLLmGM if you want a look!).
I only just discovered you, but I love your videos so I hope you keep doing them! Pens ... white pens don't like me. I like the Signo the best, and this is just weird, but the ink disappears. I'll buy one, use it a few times and when I go back the pen is half empty or all empty. I discovered laying them flat, not upright in a jar seems to help, but it's depressing having to keep buying them all the time.
+MademoiselleRose40 ahh thank you! I'm glad you are enjoying them! I have the exact same problem with white pens they work well for a couple of goes then Pooof! Don't work! It's annoying isn't it?! 😂
I like the vivid colors on the cold press but the texture you created on the hot press is just gorgeous. It looks like it's underwater. When it comes to white ink, I always come back to a the cheap sakura gel pens. They work well on most mediums - however, not so well of certain inks. I tend to use posca pens as well. I have not tried any of the liquid inks yet, seems like a bit of an investment for me that only dabble a little bit. X)
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it! It is hard finding a good white that works on lots of surfaces isn't it?! It does seem to be a big investment finding the right one!
Well if i Had to choose i'd say the cold press... I have not found a favorite pen. Thinking of trying a posca. Really enjoyed the video. You have a wonderful speaking style!... subscribed.
OMG these are goregous! Thanks for the inspiration! I really have to try to find out my own version of this! :) I THINK I like the Hot Press best. But it is a tough choice. Regarding white ink: I am still looking myself, so I look forward to check any comments you've got and will get about that!
Great Painting, can't decide on fave. Also looking for a good white over water color. I just bought a Sharpie Oil Paint Fine Point. Will see if better than gel pens.
Kim Dellow yes all good here thank you. Just had my first cataract done so I’ll have better vision once the other one has been done and I can get back to a bit of colouring again. Enjoy your weekend x
WoW, love your creations ! I am new to your channel and new to water Color. I see that you put salt….how long do you leave the salt there….do you remove it all at the end or you leave fragment on top….what is the purpose of salt
Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed it. So salt changes the way the water in the watercolour paint dries so it leaves a really interesting texture behind. The longer you leave the salt the more likely it is to stick to the page, but you can generally always brush most of it off. So you have to make a judgement call and it comes with just using it and seeing what happens.

It is a constant search isn't it?! So currently I am favouring the Uni Pin fine line markers for pen work on paper and watercolour and Molotow paint pens for pen work on acrylic paint. You are lovely to me! Thank you and I hope you enjoyed your arty binge watching!
I liked cold press but both were cool.
Thank you!
I like them both but love the way the salt reacted on the hot press. Very cool.
Thanks, yeah I always love how salt works on paint.
Hello How are you doing today?
Uni ball signo in white is a good white pen! Very opaque
Thanks! I like that one too. I think I need to get a new one though, mine seems to be clagging. Maybe because I haven't used it for a while? *Sigh*🤣
I love bleed proof white for an opaque white in watercolor. It covers better than gouache and can be tinted other colors. It comes in a small jar. It isn’t an ink. Hope that helps.
