I work at davids and everyone at the store has pretty much has 5 stars. The thing is boutiques are so much more expensive and not everyone can pay for 5,000$ dresses and sizes are limited. I have made ladies cry because of how confident they felt in the dresses. A homecoming girl was frustrated because of her size i found her a beautiful dress got her fitted for her correct bra and dress size and she was beaming with joy.
I got my dress from there not long ago. The first time I went, the store was packed and was a bit harder to enjoy. The second time the store was empty and was much better. I never felt rushed (even when it was busy). Maybe I was just naturally going fast enough. The biggest problem I had was that you have to go “shopping” for the dresses you want to try on. And when there were 7 other brides, it was hard to keep track of which ones were your picks because you just had to leave the dress on the rack and just pull it forward. I would have gone to a boutique but there aren’t many around me and the dresses start at $2000 when I only wanted to spend $1000.
I work at David's Bridal and I LOVE my job! When my brides find their dress it is the best feeling! Seeing their happiness is what makes my job so satisfying. Recently I had a very obese bride. I realized that this could possibly be a challenging situation as the largest size that we carried in-store was a 26. This woman needed a 30. I wasn't sure that I was up to this challenge and thought about passing her on to another stylist. Then something in my mind changed and I realized that I had the opportunity to make this woman feel really special. She found "The One" and it is one of the best moments of my career at David's Bridal. Like anywhere, you're going to have pushy salespeople, I see it at my job EVERYDAY! But the great thing about David's Bridal is that they do offer a wide variety of dresses for all sizes and budgets. I appreciate that. I don't have any experience with bridal boutiques so I have nothing to compare them to David's Bridal. I guess it really comes down to who you get as a stylist and the connection that is developed between the stylist and bride.
One more IMPORTANT point I want to make is if you want "that experience", DON'T go to David's Bridal on a Saturday! It's crazy! Yes, a few of us get 2 brides at one time. Yes, we may be training a new stylist while working with our brides. Also, during our Bridal Christmas, we do not have chairs out on the weekend. Saturdays are crazy for us all. We stylists do our best to give our all to our brides but it can definitely be tough on a Saturday. I tell my bridal comebacks to STAY-AWAY on Saturdays. :)
As a davids bridal consultant the sales model is SO pushy, but i never rush my brides Bc like another customer said, we are the Walmart, so imma make you feel happy that you’re saving and not rush you or push you bc this is your WEDDING like you only get this experience once in a lifetime so i don’t wanna fuck it up, it really does depend on the consultant
My consultant in mesquite was a sweetheart. She didn’t rush me, I only picked 5 dresses anyway so I ended up with my dress it was the one my mom thought I would love. Which I did. I’m going to get a reception dress too but I need more vintage 20s dress
Thank you thank you thank you for making this video!!! I just started my job as a bridal consultant and am on a mission to make brides feel exactly like you wanted to feel in your appointment. I’m so sorry you didn’t get the experience you wanted, but your story has helped inspire me all the more to care and bring on the magic.
I completely agree with this review on Davids Bridal!! i had a similar experience when i shopped there. their consultants don't care about anything but commission. i found my perfect dress at a small bridal salon and had such a great experience with my consultant! smaller salons are the way to go! i watched another davids bridal review where one bridal consultant was working with multiple brides at the same time. that sounds terrible!! did you decide to keep your dress with davids bridal?
I am so glad you found your dress at a smaller shop! Yes, I did end up keeping it, but literally a week later the same dress was $160 cheaper online so I went back and luckily they refunded the difference to me, which I was so appreciative of! I also returned the belt and plan on buying a different one. And I think I watched the same review video and was baffled at that!
That actually happened to me! My bridesmaids went shopping for their dresses for my wedding. Our parties consultant was spread between our appointment, a bride buying a wedding gown appointment, and a prom gown appointment as well as training a new girl! It was not a good experience!
David's Bridal has always been hit or miss for me. I've never gone wedding dress shopping there but I've gone twice for bridesmaid dresses and I had a good experience the one time and a bad experience the other. The consultant was trying to upsell the more expensive dresses and she ordered me the wrong size even though I told her a size 2 would fit me better. She insisted I was a size 0 and when my dress came in, I couldn't breathe in it and I didn't have time to exchange it for a bigger size (so I had to suffer through my friend's entire wedding haha). I got my wedding dress at a boutique and I had an amazing experience!
Omg that’s horrible!! If she was smart, she would have up-sized and gotten a 4 because then you would have had to get alterations done there (obviously this is also slimy) but I can’t believe she blatantly ignored you and ordered a 0 instead of a 2. What a jerk!!
I got my dress at David’s bridal. My consultant was a sweetheart. I didn’t feel pushed or anything. I live in Texas, and I’m sure it depends on what store you go to. The girl I had was so amazing!!! She did give me an amazing experience.
I ended up getting my dress online. My mother wanted me to go to David's Bridal, but this is the third or fourth negative review I've heard about them. I'm glad I didnt go.
It’s possible that your experience could have been better, but honestly I’ve heard a lot of brides (as a consultant somewhere else) complain about the experience there. I think the pushy sales model just rubs people the wrong way. I almost ordered a different dress online, but my mom kinda insisted on shopping around in person first and I happened to fall in love with one there, but I didn’t enjoy that experience at all! I’m so glad you found your dress online and avoided any potential negativity! Congratulations ❤️
I had a similar experience. The first DB I went to the consultant was not too bad and helped me looked at a few different styles. I only went to get an idea of what type of style of dress I wanted. Later on, I went back there was another consultant and she was kinda nice but she was inexperienced and she told us herself. I appreciated her honesty. I ended up finding a dress I liked but was on the fence about. It was in my budget and it fit me well enough. I had a really tight budget. The last time I went back the consultant I had was very pushy. I tried on the dress I first liked again and a few others to compare. I felt so rushed. The dress she picked for me was just over my budget and it did fit me really well but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. I felt super pressured by her to buy her pick. She asked if I was going to wear a veil and I said no I wasn't planning on wearing a veil. She put one on me anyways. She even told me that my first pick did not look good on me because it showed a few of my bumps and rolls. That really turned me off as well my fiance who was with me at the time. I ended up leaving and returned the following day to get the dress I initially liked. I didn't have that wow bridal moment I wanted in my dress.
Wow I can’t believe that last consultant said that to you! That’s so rude!! I’m glad you ended up going with the one you liked best instead of caving in to her pressure.
Actually, the shop I work at is under 1200 and start at $99 because all the dresses are pre-owned or sample dresses. I bought my dress at David’s bridal, as I stated in the video. I just didn’t appreciate them trying to upsell me and push an expensive dress that was out of my price point. You could try Etsy, JJs House, sample sales, etc. I didn’t tell anyone to NOT shop at David’s bridal, I just said that they’re pushy and not very good at their jobs lmao.
I went to a tiny bridal boutique in my downtown area and the dress I got was originally $1200 but it was on the sales rack because they don't make that dress anymore, so it was half off the original price. Score! I'm so happy I fell in love with a sales dress haha. Also the experience there was so amazing, I was the only customer and they made the appointment magical
I'd love to go somewhere smaller but it was the only one in my area that fit my price range so that's that, not really a question of choice for many people
That’s the problem I had too! The boutique I work at sells used dresses, so my size range was limited. I ended up getting my dress at David’s bridal for only like $279 (they comped me the difference because it was on sale a week after I bought it). I just wish they were more genuine and less pushy! There’s a way to upsell without making the bride feel inadequate or uncomfortable.
I 100% agree and speak from experience. I was naive and I wanted to go to David's bridal and I didn't want to go anywhere else because I was so sure that it would be a positive experience. It was absolutely awful. This was about three and a half weeks ago and it was absolutely devastating. The sales people were awful and I mean awful to wear two people in my party wanted to leave because they were so upset with how I was being treated, and I was feeling the same way but I wasn't saying anything until the end I threw my hands up because they were not listening to me they were ganging up on me they were trying to make me do things that I specifically said I was not going to do or I was not interested in. And I can only speak for my area, but the dress is definitely are not cheap price-wise. I went to a high class boutique a few weeks later just because I was completely taken aback by how negative my experience was and so I figured I might as well try both sides. I had the exact opposite experience at the boutique and I found a beautiful dress and even if I didn't find a dress, the courtesy of the staff, the wealth of experience and knowledge and listening to what I was saying, you can't put a price on that. It was a magical experience and I will dedicate significant time to shouting it from the rooftops! I am so glad I ended up going to a boutique because I was so against it at the beginning but David's bridal change that. I will never go back there and I will never suggest that anyone goes there for any reason, any event even if it's a problem. I will never get over how awful of an experience it was.
I went to David's bridal on a Saturday and I got this type of service. Really rushed and I felt like I was an inconvenience. I decided to give another DB location on an early Tuesday afternoon and the experience was completely different. The consultant was veylry helpful and paid attention to all my details. I think that since it wasn't busy as a Saturday she was really able to focus on me and what I wanted. My appointment was for 30 minutes and she spent just a bit over an hour with me. I also went to a boutique and they made me feel as if I wasn't going to be able to afford anything in there store. Very snobby and pretentious. It rubbed me the wrong way, that's why I decided to go to DB one last time.
I’m so sorry you had a terrible experience 😢 coming back from David’s bridal myself I’ve had the most amazing experience ! My consultant was amazing and gave me so many options, so much of her time and I never felt pressure !ever ! 👏🏼👏🏼 shout out to Remy at the Salt Lake City David’s bridal 💕💕💕💕
I think it just depends on the personality type of whoever the consultant is! I know David’s sales model is kinda pushy which isn’t the consultant’s fault, BUT I feel like my consultant just focused on the number rather than true job of helping brides find their dream dress. She also was trying to push accessories that didn’t even match the dresses I was trying on so that rubbed me the wrong way. I’m so glad you were able to have a great experience there!!
Remember when shopping the Wal-Mart of bridal dresses, you get the Wal-Mart experience. That is what you get for shopping at David's. Actually I have had better experience at Wal-Mart. So maybe I should say the Dollar store.
I agree. All they want is money with very little help. I went twice. First girl keep getting me dresses too big. Anxious for me to pay on a credit card. Nothing about finance plans. When we came back for alterations it was $500.00 because it was too big! I cancelled it and came back to look a for another dress in a smaller size. Happy with that. No help or conversation with the consultants both times.
When I got married in 1999 I went to Davids Bridal and I was on a iron clad budget. I found a dress i liked and tried it on(I was a walk in, no appointment) so i was left on my own. I received a little help trying it on and I loved it but it was to big and long(Im 5'1"). So i asked if they had a smaller size and no they didnt or thats what i was told. I think because it was very inexpensive the ladies pretty much ignored me except for one. She was a decent gal but couldnt answer many of my questions. I felt because I didnt have an appointment I was ignored even though i was the only one in there. I asked about getting it altered and she said they were so backed up and sugested me taking it to a place that can do the alterations. By then I was mad as heck but i bought the dres because i did love it but i would never go back. To each their own I guess😊
That’s such bad customer service! I’m sorry you had that experience, but I’m glad you found a great dress! Don’t allow walk-ins if you’re not gonna provide a good service to them! Ugh!
Worst experience ever with them for me. My lady did the exact same thing refused to let me try on two last dresses I tried to pull. And then telling me she needs to go home! If you don’t have time for an appointment give me someone else! Now driving home I called to cancel the dress order I paid for. Now I’m going to another location and I’m not gonna feel bad for being pushy.
The experience will be in fabrics that are not itchy and will make you feel comfortable, so that you are not rushed, make the appointment during off-peak hours.
I got my dress at DB and had a good experience. I didn’t want to spend a fortune on a dress I’ll have on for a few hours. I’m an older bride, so I won’t be handing the gown down to anyone and I’d rather spend the money on a great honeymoon. I also had looked on the website in advance so I know what I wanted..
I think it's a shame that the appointments are so strictly timed. What better way to put a bride into a panic than to do a countdown to "how much time you have left." I haven't heard too much positive about David's Bridal. Small boutique is the way to go - they care.
I hope you returned the belt. Also, not sure if it’s possible...couldn’t you find the dress online and return that one. I hate for David’s Bridal to get more $$. In Chicagoland, they have a “raffle” for a free makeup makeover. The information of the people who enter are given to MaryKay consultants.
I did return the belt, and luckily the next week the exact dress was nearly half the price! So I ended up only paying $275 for the dress because they comped me the difference because it was only a few days later.
It sounds to me like you needed to take control of your appointment. I could write a book about the differences in construction, fabric, etc. between the boutique and the chain stores, but that isn't the point of your video. You are focused on the experience, and you seem quite young. If things are not going well with the consultant, you can always ask for a different consultant or even another appointment. You knew that the dress was $399, and you should be quickly able to calculate sales tax in your area. You should have been able to question the total before you paid it. Definitely return the belt. There is no question that you will get a better "one on one" experience at a boutique or bridal specialty shop. You are essentially looking at the difference between Walmart and Nordstroms. If you really work at it, you can sometimes even get real designer gowns at cheap prices at boutiques--designers offer serious mark downs on last year's styles, breast cancer fund raisers sell used gowns at great prices, etc. This is an older video, so hope your wedding day was as magical as you wished.
I am confused, you say you're not complaining or leaving a bad review, but that is exactly what you've done. Firstly, your mom insisted you fit on a dress you didn't like but you did it to make her happy - not your mom's wedding, a limited time frame and a preset budget - you could have firmly said NO. Secondly, the consultant dictating what you do - you aquiese but you're unhappy. You should have been clear with her also - not her wedding but yours so you need to be catered for. If you had a tight budget why waste time looking at anything out of your price range? You must take full responsibility for the experience. It could have equalled the small boutique but you chose to please others instead of yourself. As a customer you have the right to set the tone of the appointment. The trick is to be courteous and respectful in the way you express that. My guess is you bought something that was not in your budget so now you have to sacrifice in another area - I cannot empathise; you allowed the dissatisfaction of the event.
Actually I didn’t complain, I criticized. Those are two completely different things. I told her before the appointment even started what my budget was, and she failed to inform me that there was even a clearance/discount section and instead directed me towards the higher end dresses saying “we’re having a sale.” As a consultant myself, I know how to make my brides comfortable and gauge their needs because that’s my job. The sense of rush was unnecessary, the upselling when she already knew my budget and my needs was unnecessary. Bottom line is that the David’s Bridal sales model is pushy and ineffective, and that’s what makes it the Walmart of dress buying.
Just not sure why you bought a dress there if you hate the experience so much? I could understand from a newbie, but you are a wedding consultant yourself, you should have walked out period. Looked at your pictures and if you indeed loved it, went back to get it another day.
I actually never said I hated the experience, I just criticized it. And I couldn’t risk giving the dress up because it was on clearance and the only one left. Bottom line, people still shop at Walmart, even though target is a better experience 🤷♀️
@@hayliehomemaker because of the price. Where else can you find a 275 dollar dress. People go to Walmart because it’s cheaper than target. You want a full bridal experience with a champagne bottle, you’ll have to pay at least 3000 dollars for a dress.
@@a.lozano9843 Did you watch the video? This is my EXACT point. If you're looking for the boutique experience, go to a boutique because David's Bridal is not going to provide. If you're looking for a cheap dress and that's your only concern, then DB is a great choice. That was quite literally what I said in the video. Maybe watch the whole thing next time before getting pressed in the comments.
I work at davids and everyone at the store has pretty much has 5 stars. The thing is boutiques are so much more expensive and not everyone can pay for 5,000$ dresses and sizes are limited.
I honestly haven't Heard ANYTHING GOOD about David's Bridal..
I went dress shopping at David’s bridal this past weekend and I actually had a really good experience. My consultant was really nice and helpful
I don’t know where this place is but l hear a lot of bad stuff about it
It sounds to me like you needed to take control of your appointment.
You had a bad experience with that stylist, I don't think its a good view of davids bridal as a whole. A
Just not sure why you bought a dress there if you hate the experience so much?
Your voice is like nails on a chalkboard i could only listen for less than a minute 😖😖😖
LMFAO THIS MADE ME LAUGH SO HARD
