Even though I only got like 40% of it, this was a really entertaining press conference. They’re actually go back and forth and sort of debating the lines.
I love the “ahhhs” from Hikaru when something clicks for him and the “then okays” from Nepo when he gets something.
Hikaru takes over the press conferences except when Nepo is there with him lol
the only one who can out talk him lol
Nepo is so eloquent, he is nearly equally expressive as nakamura. SO there is a draw in the press conference as well
Because Nepo thinks he knows more than he does and Hikaru understands the game much better so he doesn't argue with him.
@@vasilismavroudis4211except nepo is a two time world championship contender and hikaru is not.
@@Aks.868 key word there, contender. Nepo hasn’t won anything
2:36
- "But this is two pawns though".
- "Yeah, but mate is more valuable, you know".
Even at those levels one prefers material to protecting the king who is just lazy. Hahaha
Ok
Based on the engine eval here I'd say Hikaru is more correct than Nepo on this position. Hikaru's idea to trade rooks and put the queen on d4 isn't best and still leads to a completely equal position. Black has better options that lead to a nearly winning position, so Hikaru's intuition that the two pawns are more valuable than white's activity seems to be correct. There's definitely no threat of getting mated anytime soon.
".... ok, yes but... yes, ok, but then.... yes... maybe... but... then there's... of course if.... but yes... no .. maybe if...??? " 🎂
Objectively
can you repeat the questions?
Exactly! 😂
ian is like the student in class who knows everything
He is very bright, period.
He only thinks he knows, Hikaru actually understands the game much better and just sees that there's no point to really argue with him.
How can you say one is much better from their standings
@@vasilismavroudis4211 bro I like Hikaru as much as the next person but even I'm not gonna simp for him that hard
these guys are so quick, the poor commentator is always two steps behind.
I'm baffled at the fact that they make the most stupid questions all the time at the press conferences of the most brilliant-people sport
It's like they filter out good questions and allow only stupid ones
What questions would you ask smartboy
@@stevo7220definitely not “are you also thinking about second place?” Lmao
@@SgtJuls okay fair, but I was expecting for you to give me such examples not quote them....
lol the last question naka and nepo thinking how dumb it was. these two have good chemistry, should become bffs
They both have a classic WTF face.😂😂😂
Ding would make a crap ton of money even if he loses the WCC. Doesn’t make sense for him not to play. So yeah. Bad question.
Ok
But ok...
Ian loves to talk 😂😂
It's like every 5th sentence is complete enough for a player like me to actually understand what they are saying
If there's one good think for Naka about Gukesh winning today is that tomorrow he doesn't need to watch any other game now, he HAS to go for the win and that's it.
Hikaru was in a must win situation whether or not Gukesh won. He can't gamble on Nepo and Caruana tying their games just to get into a four way tie break. I think Gugesh winning changes basically nothing for him.
@@curio78 Yes, I know, but it doesn't change the fact that he is playing for a win was my point.
10:46 It is funny to see they became commentator for Gukesh’s game. 😂
They should always make post conferences foe this two hope they play wc against each other someday
14:00
Hikaru: I don't think anybody is thinking about 2nd place.
Hikaru: *immediately thinks about 2nd place*
Perfectly synced😂
underrated comment 😂😂
I'd love to see an hour long podcast of them exploring all the lines the game could've taken - the back and forth banter is great.
Two brilliant minds. The host does very well to follow them. Excellent review by all 😊
This is so Amazing and Pleasant I watched live without commentary hearing these 2 fine gentlemen discuss it with such speed and recollection is incredible and politeness
Ian in a good mood is always fun to watch
I like the way they essentially start playing a verbal blitz game between them.
I love how they argued 😂
Ian😢❤..i seriously wish him to win fide chess
N.p: came after watching ding ian video
wtf are these questions in the end lol
One good question would have been if Hikaru confused his preparation and if Nepo and Hikaru were aware of the chances at that point.
I was really wondering about that but nobody mentioned it.
Yes.m.
@elia😅svonbrille
Interesting, deep, well-thought-out questions at the end!
Now both of them have to win at all costs if they want any chance at the title
At this point, questions from the audience should be illegal 😭
why was this not broadcast during the stream and only posted hours after the actual game was played
shouldn't have to log in at night to hear from the players about what happened this afternoon
Cause FIDE still don't know how to manage the hype
Ok
I want to see the both of them in the tie breaks. They both need to win there games tomorrow at all costs because of Gukeshes' win. Hikaru does have white and Ian has black so I dont know what the odds are but it will be very interesting no mater how is shakes out tomorrow.
Ian has no chance against Fabi in white 😅
Ok
Ian is a G
a principled soviet-style chess machine
Ok
Lady in the middle is so confused 😂
These guys are so much better than anyone watching.
You should make thos commentary together
Hahahaha Hikaru smirks are amazing
Dont interrupt Ian.Especially Naka
Hilarious. Nepo talks so much, it would annoy a lot of people talking like he knows everything, but when you have Naka there you are asking for an argument. I remember watching them play even 7 years ago and you could see they ground each others gears. 😆
He’s just showing the lines he considered in the game? Not sure why ppl would be annoyed since the entire point of the conference is to discuss thoughts during the game lol
It appears that at any point neither thought about Nxg6 which is the computer move, not that would make much of a difference cause says the position is a draw
I was so upset when Ian didn’t find the move pawn to d5, and went bc2 for some reason. There is no guarantee but there were chances. Gg, still
13:30 Hikaru be like:- Ding liren is from China 😮he will definitely play 😮 otherwise Zinping will do 😂
Am I stupid or is the strategy for Nepo/Fabi/Hikaru is to play for a win (or lose trying) and Gukesh just needs to not lose. Further, if the Fabi/Nepo game is decisive, then there would have to be a tiebreak unless Gukesh wins his game.
Yes
I
Hikaru bodied in this interview 😂
I didn't understand anything
Reporter in the middle be like - 🤔
This seems like 2 brothers discussing wildly... while having a sister in between to calm them down XD
Is this conference or analysis 😂😂
Since when Ian is so chatty? I’m shocked.
Who is the commentaitor?
She has a name card in front of her.
Hikaru is going to win inshallah 🇺🇸🏆
Nepo is not like this against carlsen in interviews
Hikaru don't need to look at other games..anything less than a win the re is no tie breaker
but at the time gukesh was still playing, you can see they even give their thoughts of the game in the end
*sucks teeth*, chuckles lightly, then says, “well yeah, but this is too stupid, Ding will play…”😅 13:51 🤣 (this is Hikaru’s best reply to a reporter’s question)
the fact that none of the other reporters even dared to ask a question after that reply is crazy 🥲
At least she’s got a lot better keeping up lol
Hikaru thx for defending Ding Liren.
No disrespect but truly idiotic questions at the end
Why our german journalists always make the worst questions 😂
First to comment....Gukesh is leading.... Awesome.
Stupid press officer . Embarrassing questions
+ don't know how to keep up with players' variations
@@Sodnikawould you?
Stupid RUclips user. Embarrassing comment.
@@ThatRaisinTho what a dumb thing to say
Ian YAPPomniachtchi
Typical Russian vs typical american in chess is happening lol🤣🤣
Just 3 dudes talking chess...
its not so great that players during their game can check out the proceedings on other boards, I dont like that at all.
Why would that be a bad thing?
Why there’s a woman asking questions?
Right????? A nobody. Put someone else top level in there
Ridiculous, you don't have to be a super GM to conduct an interview. Thanks for reconfirming the biases that are prevalent within the sport.
She looks man enough to me what's your problem
Why cant there be a woman asking questions smh
@@GavinTheMistborn no, you don’t need to be a GM, but you need to be at least competent and likable.
As we all know, women have their own category in chess - a completely non-physical game - since, as we all know, they would get destroyed playing against men.
So why do we have women interviewing top male players?
ian will never be a world champion! he can't beat hikaru ,😭😭😭
Boring!
Go play fortnite
staff absolutely cant keep up 🤣
I'm always so much in awe when these guys analyze a game ♟️
