- Rare Silver Coin Found Hunting Quarters!
What began as a 2 Box Quarter Hunt for any for Silver, 2019 W's and an Error or Variety coin quickly turned into my best quarter find of a bank box EVER!
I never get much luck when I coin roll hunt quarters... Yet, I still love the anticipation of opening those orange striped rolls and looking for silver. I have put off hunting quarters often (although I do look through one box per week) since my luck with them is terrible... but figured I stay focused on my quest for more silver and some more 2019 W Quarters.
In this video, I'll open up 2 boxes of quarters from different bank branches including Wells Fargo Bank and Bank of America in hopes of finding a 2019 W Quarter or at the least, landing another Silver Quarter or error/variety quarter of 2019.
I ended up finding more than I could have hoped for!

I once found an AU 1918 SLQ while pulling out weeds near my house. I've also found 3 dateless ones digging for bottles.

I also found my first SQL in a bank box last night. It was even the same date, a 1927 D. My excitement was through the roof. Thanks for the video Rob! 🥳
I was corrected this week by very successful coin collector about my terminology when talking about value of coins. Your SLQ is $15 book value "collectable", if you want to sell it you have to have it graded. Coins are worth as much as people will pay for them. Yesterday I saw a 1943 penny on a silver planchet. It's (graded) value was $4000.

Also, I don't think it's a D. On the type 3 coins the mint mark almost never wears down. Even on the type 2, the date can be completely slicked out, and the mint mark will usually still be bold. :)
JD's Variety Channel I agree about the mint marks tending to not wear first. I have several like that. That’s why I was initially confused about this one. It appears to have damage in the mint mark area and that is why I studied it so much. Either it is a Philly with damage or the D has been damaged explaining the fact that it’s less “visible” than the date. Either way, I’m stoked to have found one. I appreciate your thoughts as always brother!

The quarter I got from the pawn shop was actually a 1927 as well. Can’t get a mint mark off of it. Yours looks a little better than mine, great find:).

I got a few SLQs at work within a few days. Maybe 8 or 9 total along with a bunch of washingtons. Unfortunately sold them before my stacking days, I think it was possibly all from a few rolls that my work got. None had dates though.
I found a 1919 I believe standing liberty quarter in a parking lot once.
Nice! I've only ever found one Standing Liberty Quarter in my life, and it was a weird, random thing. I was walking to Dunkin Donuts in my neighborhood last spring and I passed a sidewalk strip where some pipe work had recently been done. Saw a dirty, quarter sized disc right on top of the ground, expected it to be a dirty modern quarter, and was shocked when I saw the eagle on the back. It was a 1926-D, if I recall correctly.
I found a barber half in change once some guy handed me some change and there was a barber half in it bought it off from him

Awesome find Rob. Quick question for you or anyone else, is $349.89 a good price for a 1880 $5 gold half eagle? It is AU55-MS64+, not to familiar with gold coin grading, has some light surface scratches but all details are present even on the high points of the coin.

I did get lucky on the next bigger one. I bought silver from a dude at the gas station right down the street. A girl came for a 2 litre mt. dew and spent a '45 and '47 walking liberty half for it. They sir are in my collection.
Wow great find. Only found a few silver coins. Don't see much here in the Midwest.
I sometimes wonder what would become of my coin collection when I'm gone. I've decided that before that time comes I will give most of it to a young collector, in hopes that it will stay intact for some time. I would also find pleasure in sending some good finds back into circulation. Give the people something to get excited about.
