100% couldn't agree more. A lot of anime that people love, and praise (especially in Shonen's) seem to focus so much more on the "hype" aspect than anything else. Not to say I don't enjoy that. But when you sacrifice originality for excitement you get something extremely mediocre. A lot of these "hype anime's" have simple cookie cutter plots that babies can understand, characters that solely rely on somewhat funny but annoying cliche tropes. And protagonists that get stupidly op, beat all odds, and most importantly, never gives up. And while there might be these little twists in the series. It never goes so far as to actually change the core of the series. Same goes for the characters. I don't think all anime's (including Shonen's) do this. But Jujutsu Kaisen is a perfect example of a series that does. I do have to say that the anime at least looks amazing. From the animation to the fight scenes. So, I can at least appreciate that.
You are totally right about this show. I agree with almost everything you said. Jujutsu Kaisen has nothing characters, its extremely derivative and has just weak writing overall. I feel the people who are enjoying (which seems to be most people) just care about the fights and people punching each other, and don't pay attention to anything else going on at all. Like why are the characters fighting? And why should we care? Its cliche, generic and just so uninteresting. When they introduced about like 8 more characters and then had episode after episode where they were running around in the woods and pairing up to have a fight where we get half an episode of flashback of why we are supposed to care about this character, I was just so bored. I also think that people are really overstating how good these fights look. The character animation is good, but the compositing is fucking awful. The backgrounds are clearly 3D and look like PS2 graphics which the characters are floating around in front of while the camera spins around crazily. I was so taken out and couldn't look away from these awful trees and hallways in the backgrounds. That's why that episode 19 fight looks the best, because it takes place up in the sky and they don't have to have a background. It also irks me that it has the shounen problem of characters standing around talking telling us how cool their power is, and then its nothing at all. Like Gojo is talking about this philosophical concept for minutes on end and the result of that is he shoots a purple laser beam. Or he emerges unscathed from a cloud of smoke. Or other generic thing. Just infuriating. Rant over. Liked your video, keep it up. Don't listen to the people on the internet telling you not to have a different opinion. Oh except Tower of God isn't good (4/10). Its a bit better than Jujutsu Kaisen (3/10), but not by much. It certainly is more interesting at times though. Peace.
