@Joseph Joestar“There can’t be racism if there’s only one race” - Eren Jäeger probably (sorry if this was inconvenient but it just reminded me of him lol)
In today's world some people think that racism is expressing hate only towards all the other races and cultures but not white and because of that they also think that it's okay to attack white people, because it's considered defending other races by them and not harassing white people. But truly. Racism means expressing hate by every race or nationality towards any other race or nationality different to them. Also I agree with you Sand Wick. There are already many, many people who are treating everyone equally and sadly there still are and will be some intolerant people. It's just how this world is.
"not a single variation in color", "didn't even try to make it look handmade." So she is probably a professional seamstress. How do these people think clothes are made?
True. I like Cosplay for the make up aspect and to portray a character in the best way possible irl. But seeing as thing like this just makes me lose hope in humanity 🤷🏻♀️
Thing aren't gonna change until people like that get consequences. For example, there's an infamous gaming journalist that keeps repeating "you can't be racist against white people" and she still has her job.
It confuses me so much. Now the black population wants places/ zones only for them? What next? Water fountains only for black and bus seats only for black? I think there was a time when this was the case but they weren’t happy about it. Personally don’t care what you are just be nice and respect personal space.
Man I feel bad for this girl. Even the judge defending her starts a statement with "I would prefer a black person win" I'd be surprised if she wanted to go back again knowing people aren't rooting for you because you're not the color they want.
@@yesimlesbian3422 literally the people who are in charge of the event said their not going to block people out, you were not even there, if the people at the event were upset thats one thing and they weren't and would change somthing about it if they were, but their not so you have no right to speak on everyone else behave like you own the place
Man. People really be mad at a woman who made her cosplay because she's white. Honestly I thought all of them were impressive and definitely took a lot of work to make.
@@drakofox1362 Yea, I agree, the robot arm one looked pretty good. But knowing that the winner hand-made every single part of her costume is VERY impressive. Its hard to tell the craftsmanship from the images alone as well, like the arms look cool, but there could be a lot of craftsmanship issues with them that you cant see from the photo.
“If we aren’t gonna be welcome in certain spaces, we need to be able to have our own.” Did… Did you just reinvent segregation? “Oh no, some places are racist, this is why we need segregation again!” We’ve gone full circle boys, MLK is displeased-
He would be appalled to see everything he worked for being undone by the very people he was trying to help. I doubt he would ever have started if he knew this would be the end result.
I'm definitely leftist but I still think this is definitely true. Yes, we should support the minority but it is a very complex issue at this stage. Before, what we had was Black people obviously being the victim, but now it's kind of grown into this cycle of insanity, where the minority grows larger and now we have 2 majorities who hate each other, but at the same time if you don't support the minority, then we have 1 majority, but this majority has total power and all minorities basically are a second majority so then you have 1 majority in control of the others and it still doesnt work. Idk
I hate how these racists assume being black gives them a sort of immunity shield to being racist, because as a black guy myself, that should not be a thing. You should be accountable for the things you say rather than using your race as a shield from criticism. Cosplay contests judge the accuracy of cosplay OUTFITS, not the individuals wearing them.
"Why did she as a white girl feel comfortable entering the contest in the first place" I've never seen a group this fixated on race and skin tone in my life. True racism
True. If race and skin color doesn’t matter, then why are people so pissy when someone of X race didn’t win or there isn’t enough of X skin color in the place. If it doesn’t matter, why are you so fixated on it all of the time
Yeah, it's a toxic double standard I've noticed where it wouldn't be acceptable to say if it was about black people but yet people act like it's okay to talk like that about white people. "Why did she as a black girl feel comfortable entering the contest in the first place?" Doesn't that sound terrible and awful? No one should talk to anyone like that.
@Steven 1773 agree. I live in a state full of idiots like that. I'm actually expecting a kid and will be homeschooling him. These socialists running public schools are cancer

yeah most people, if something is distracting them, just stop looking at it. They don't go out of their way to type up a comment about it and list their reasonings for it lol
Why in the world does there need to be “black cosplay conventions” or “white cosplay conventions”? This is why there is still some racist people, because people won’t stop making everything about race. The fact that people had concerns about a white girl winning is literally racist.
Let me preface by saying I’m not American or into the ‘woke movement’. Black people in the US are a small minority (about 13%) and I imagine the weeb community in the US reflects this. There are a lot of cons made ‘for everyone’ and unsurprisingly, most of the people there are white. The whole purpose of something like Blerdcon is for like-minded black people to share their interest in anime. As for the cosplay competition, I doubt that all the other ‘for everyone’ cons have a noticeable number of black winners because white people are statistically more likely to win due to being the majority. I don’t know the competition this white woman was facing but in principle a con made for black people should celebrate black cosplay. Yeah her costume was excellent and maybe she was clearly better than the rest of the competition but again a black event should ideally focus on black people. She could have taken her cosplay to any other regular con and won there instead of stealing the show made for black people.
@@AttaBek1422 bruh it’s not “black people only” it’s to celebrate black cos play. The fact you said she could have went to any other con instead, makes you sound ignorant af. She can take her costume wherever she wants by her own reasoning or choice. Cosplay con is for fun, not to advertise segregation.
@@kraziscribbs4552 How exactly is a white person winning a cosplay competition ‘celebrating black cosplay’? Think about it instead of defaulting to ‘segregation’
Oh big time. Lost a lot of good people in that chaos. Including one Dr. King Jr. Lot humiliation. People got hurt. Segregation on an insane level. And I'm talking "you're not allowed to drink from the same water fountain" level of segregation. Back then there was one water fountain for white folks and one water fountain for black folk. Segregated bathrooms. Churches. Restaurants. I'm glad I never lived through that. But that was drilled into me in my history classes back in highschool and it broke my heart. Still does to this very day when I think about it.
I mean if were looking at it from a historical viewpoint: Economically the black dollar was worth more back during segregation and from a community viewpoint black people were stronger and way more united before integration. Which is the reason Malcolm X was against it and was why MLK realized his mistake before his death.
These are what we like to call Social Justice Warriors (SJW) who like to prance about with their magic fairy wand of equality and shit on the white people, males, heterosexuals, and cisgendered in an attempt to raise up minorities. They generally believe that by equalizing the standing of people (I.E. shitting on majorities and encouraging minorities in every facet of life) that they have achieved equality. "Equal outcome without equal opportunity" They fail to realise that they are encouraging and actively participating in the things they seem to be so very against.
@Alex Garner This information is readily available and theres no reason to be this ignorant in 2021. You can do the research into the state of the black community before integration and why people like Malcolm X was against it on your own. Im not here to spoonfeed you easily to find information.

Dr King had a Great dream and one day our capitalist culture may become mature enough to make that dream come true , , but Big Business and Big Government don't want that dream ever coming true , because society will no longer need either one of them 😮 🏆🏆🏆😯
"Our con isn't segregated and that sucks." Sadly I've met real people like this. They don't get better. They just double down on their own shitty takes.
Being petty wont make racism less common, it just causes race wars. And while yes, most race wars have been more standing up, but now black people count as citizens, so sitting down and talking about our problems is an available solution. It may seem cheesy, but its true. Just like if youre more confident you have a better chance of success, but saying "believe in yourself" is also cheesy.
@Acolyte of Dagon im saying that the people in the video are being petty. "if were discriminated in other cons, white people should be discriminated in ours" has probably passed through more then one of their minds. And that we dont need to be petty, since now everyone of us are citizens and we can sit down and talk about problems. If someone is petty about race, it causes stereotypes. Like how people say "all white people are racist", which is ironically a racist statement.

I kinda side eyed that statement at first, but given the fact they're defending the actual winner who obviously does not fit the preference expressed shows they're willing to work past that to be fair. As long as they don't actually discriminate, preference does not pass the line into outright racism. That said, I wouldn't be comfortable spending time with that judge in a non-professional capacity solely based off of that same statement, because they're a little too close to the line for my comfort.

The whole idea of a specific colour of skin only convention is really weird. If there was a white nerd convention everyone there would be called white nationalist
They literally didn't owe anyone an explanation. They should have just said "we chose her as the winner because her costume was great and that's the only statement you're getting from us". How hard is it to just be blunt? Grow a set.
Well, if the judges didnt confirm the outfut was hand made, she could still be getting more hate. At least she has their statements proving how her victory was clean
Because they wouldve been torn alive if they said something like that. This is a convention targeted towards POC. Who do you think are the people this event is pandering to who create a good portion of its followers? The people who care about things like Social Justice way too fucking much. And who are the people who would get VERY upset because a white person one? you guessed it, the SJW people. Like, if this was normal convention, they could get away with that. But since this is an event basically targeted towards SJW types, they have to tiptoe around their explanation because these SJW types are openly racist against white people. So they have to explain in great detail otherwise they're gonna lose a third of their customer base.
Started a thread belittling the girl because she's white, continued to be a racist to the girl in the thread, even saying she shouldn't have been there simply because she's white, literally promoting rudeness at the girl then when she hears the cosplayer was receiving death threats, she said it was extreme, while she was extreme herself. Peace between people will never happen like this. Abused people abuse until someone breaks the cycle. Can't keep passing on horride attitutes. Humans will never be free that way.
The goal should be to create a world where every color should life without their skin color being important, not to put one color over another to cope for the lack of let's say anime cons for black people - it's not that simple.
In the end, such a goal would be impossible. If a system is problematic, the people are too, and you can't really change a racist's mind very easily if at all. It's how they're raised to believe or what they experienced with that certain ethnic group growing up.
People will always find something they have in common, whatever it is and feel closer to those. Whatever it is. sometimes it's hair color, sometimes it's skin color, sometimes it's believes, sometimes just something you wear, people always need the feel to be part of a group. The main point is not to discriminate others because of it. I mean the Blerdcon is a perfect example they help black people but they welcome anyone to join the fun.
@Rohaan Mohammed Perhaps, but it's still rather difficult and you'd have to factor in how stubborn they are if they're open-minded or not... but not everyone would want to change their opinion of... various things and whatnot.

this exactly!!! like there's legitimately no need for "___ only cons" when we should be making cons for everyone

As someone with a physical disability my healing won't come from cutting off the legs of the abled bodied. My life doesn't improve from tearing people down. It improves by raising me up to have the same as everyone else - NOT by making everyone else sick.
This attitude leads to neverending feuds and people "getting revenge on the revenge" in a cycle.

There was an entire movement in the 60/70's to end shit like segregation and shit like this just spits on those efforts.
The only way that would even be possible is by Making everybody of the same religion and destroying every other religion that ever existed
@Rohaan Mohammed Perhaps, but it's still rather difficult and you'd have to factor in how stubborn they are if they're open-minded or not... but not everyone would want to change their opinion of... various things and whatnot.

Ever since that George Floyd event happened things have been getting more tense between all races in america and for some reason everyone wants to blame white people for it even though many of them did nothing wrong. It's like they no longer want equality. They just want white people to feel bad for being born white.
As a non American as well, I completely agree that the situation on this is very poorly evolving and reaching a state of near-comical results.
Where is the equality in all these behaviors ? These people certainly aren't showcasing such a thing, and it seriously needs to change.

It’s a small vocal minority demanding superiority to be handed to them. The fact that they have a segregated convention itself is already really dumb, especially considering nerd culture isn't really something that's ever been super unwelcoming to people regardless of race.
Beyond that conventions aren't really "safe spaces" to begin with. It's not a cry closet, it's a place where a bunch of people who like a thing go to appreciate that thing together.
It's supposed to be an event where anyone who likes the thing can gather and have fun with it. There's never been a need for race to matter with it and forcing segregation onto it and trying to make it racial seems super racist to me
