Doctor Who | WORLD ENOUGH AND TIME 1960's EDITION | Bill is a Cyberman?!

  • Converted into the ever beautiful grainy black and white 4:3 Image.
    Re-scored with traditional 1960's music.
    Most importantly an attempt at removing as much as I could of that infernal stomping which we all know shouldn't be there!

    You know not only does the black and white make it feel retro but it makes the shadows much more noticeable it makes the sense much more moody and really helps make this scene more distressing plus the creepy old cyber man music makes it ten times better

    I hope Peter Capaldi sees this. He'll love it. I love the sound effects and the score you used when the cybermen is revealed, it gives me the creeps. And the credits part were a great touch.

    Actually, this style works really well and I wonder why the New Who hasn't tried an episode in the retro 1960s style. It makes so much sense!

    This one hits so much harder than the original version, which already hit hard enough to scare me absolutely shitless. The airy 60's scifi music balanced with eery silence is SO perfectly done. Very masterfully done, if you will.

    It actually looks much more authentic when the screen resolution is dropped to 240p, and would probably be even better if the frame rate were dropped to 25 fps. Still, brilliantly conceived and edited.

    I think the stomping is a good thing! Doesn't feel like a cyberman without it. Awesome video. New with the old works great. Just like what the writers did with bringing back the mondas cybermen in this episode. Good costumes. This a little of what we need! I didn't think I'd like black and white but I do 👍

    • @baroque4days
      @baroque4days 4 года назад

      The more modern ones seem to be very machine based and so would be fairly noisy but, these things never did make much noise. They seem to have a fair amount of their body left including the torso, arms and head. Obviously, they are probably realistically stripped down and heavily mutilated but, I think the true horror of these Cybermen was how human they were. They had exposed hands.

    • @Doodle1678
      @Doodle1678 Год назад

      @@baroque4days yeah the old ones are unintentionally scarier because of the low budget costumes makes them look more human almost like walking hospital patients barely being kept alive by machinery they don’t look like they are made of much metal so the stomping doesn’t make as much sense but I still like it

    • @baroque4days
      @baroque4days Год назад +1

      @@Doodle1678 There's a picture of the inside of a Moonbase/Tomb suit somewhere. Basically still has parts of the leg and arms used just with stuff between them and a giant filtered automatic breathing system. Back when they used to melt their chest plates back in the old series, they'd have been suffocating them and probably causing overheating in their artificial lungs. Horrible stuff.

  • @Kazemahou

    This was just plain brilliant - more than that, the period music absolutely made this entire scene vastly more disturbing and horrific. I wish the beeb had done what you did for the actual program - the soundtrack at least. I am amazed how deeply unsettling that old era Who music is, and how effectively it worked. The stark B&W images also deeply disturbed... really powerful!

I am however very disappointed with the second part as it just forces in the modern day cybermen with a half-assed explanation. If it had kept the original cybermen and made them a serious threat in a very clever manner then the second episode would have been just fine. But still, the point is that I loved the first episode.
