We are busy and they cut our Ot, but we do a lot if preventive maintenance and we have been adding a lot of four section heads with Fya. By the way I’m in Pinellas County Florida which is on the west coast. Clearwater,Saint Petersburg, largo area. Huge boom in population so we are doing a lot of changing. 332 cabinets gone and bringing in ts2. A lot of rebuilds of old intersections and even changing from span to mast arm. Keep it up I love your videos glad your well!!
Hi. I've come across your videos two or three times now in the last six months. I guess it's about time I subscribe, so I did. Hope you are well and keep these videos coming!
Thank you for continuing to post videos when you get a chance. I know it’s a lot of work. I have a question about equipment Bonding. How and where are the cabinet and pole physically bonded? It seems like most people I ask talk about Grounding. It’s getting confusing. Thank you
Hello again from CT. COVID has really sent 2020 down the toilet!! My wife's business has been closed since March. Things are not so bleak in my traffic world as we got a lot of work, intersection upgrades with twisted pair interconnect going to fiber and several hundred intersections of LED replacements. Nice to hear from you again and STAY SAFE!!
Hope all is well on your end! I was wondering what you do with your signal cabinets in severe weather? When extreme cold weather sets in, our controllers sometimes get a little out of sorts. Sending the signal into flash. Other times an ice cube relay might stick, losing power to one or more directions, sending the signal into flash. Currently we utilize traffic signal heating lamps (bulbs) to keep a specific cabinet warm. Just seems a bit outdated to me! I was wondering if you might have another idea or option?
Do y'all use Apogee or Nextphase with your flashing yellow arrows? We here in Las Vegas are phasing out Next Phase for Apogee and swapping the flashing yellow arrows from green on the phase and yellows and red on the overlap to Red Yellow Green on the phase and Flashing yellow on the overlap with resistor on green. Oh I also see an old M50 controller on top of the cabinet in the background.
We don't use next phase or apogee. We use mostly Econolite controllers but we have some m50s out there also. We use both Centracs and Tactics for central command platforms. FYA we usually use "configuration B" where we use green of the left turn phase but the yellow and red are driven by the y/r outputs on the overlap load switch....and the flashing yellow is driven by the overlap green. No need to place a load resistor as we are using all EDI MMU's and that's all programmable.
Happy you're doing ok out there. I'm still working at my job, although my hours have been cut a little. But I'm hanging in there. Hope to see another video soon.
That’s what I did! First look into pay scale to see what it is in your region. I highly recommend it! You learn something new regarding traffic controls every event. From controllers, conflict monitors, a signal going into (red) flash, etc...

Could you do a video on a quick overview of what to expect in the traffic signal technician level 1 course?

Thanks man, good to hear you're still at it!
I’m an Ibew inside wiremen looking for a career change, would applying for a traffic control technician with a municipality be a good choice?
