@@Bullet-Tooth-Tony- the crazy thing was he was coming off the back of being knocked out, I payed 15 quid for a ticket , place was empty , so I just walked down and sat ringside 🤣🤣🤣🤣
A few months ago, I visited Justine Fortune Gym, on Melrose / Fairfax in Los Angeles, thinking about taking lessons. Justine is such a genuine person, very down to earth and VERY ALERT EYES. Really good guy.
Justin Fortune wanted to go on. With a standing 8 count That would had been fair too Justin was keen to put it all on the line and win a war of attrition. I feel his disappointment in the TKO, because he was rock solid on his feet. But it was a massive mismatch and the referee had a duty. The same shit happened to me once against Solomon Hamuomono when I was already the 2 year reigning heavyweight champion of NSW yet I was over 2st lighter than my opponent. Justin helped me train for that fight. I feel his disappointment! He never stopped believing in himself.
I’m not saying Lewis wouldn’t have won anyway, but the referee was very biased throughout this fight in favour of Lewis. As soon as he saw fortune in trouble he stopped the fight, fortune was up immediately. Again not saying Lewis wouldn’t have won .
Coincidentally I said the same thing to myself this guys is a way more advanced rock, but for some odd reason mutiple not sane people on forums said rock would beat Len,yet rock and everybody from that era looks like novices in full matches The difference is rock wouldn’t land any punches and would be koed in like 2 punches rock wouldn’t even beat Len in amateur form, boxers in rocks era wasn’t even as advanced as amateurs in 70s
On forums lunatics said marciano would beat mercer, yet no one even made midcard fighting like they did in that novice like era in 70s-90s,tony wasn't much bigger than rocky and he had to stay away from mercer cause ray bit so hard, this man tony was way more advanced than that whole rocky era This man Justin, a way more advanced fighter, couldn't just come in nonstop with Len. How would an obsolete fighter like Rock, who was also a lhw, just be able to tank shots from a way more advanced fighter? He never fought anybody like that or who was a lhw or that tall; it doesn’t make any logical sense at all. Not sane people on forums base everything on highlights, not full matches that show everything.
AJ should watch this. Lewis was coming back off the back of defeat 2 fights earlier to McCall. He’s tentative even hear but progressed by the 40% Makoney said he had in hun in 1995 and went in to be a great. In 2021. AJ is about at Lewis’ level at about the Justine Fortune fight. AJ needs to be a bit more technical but he nearly has the full package!
Those unanswered shots rock your brain in a different way to more “conventional” shots rights. Good stoppage. He was going soon anyway after that if it carried on.
I know it's the refs job to protect both fighters but JF rose to his feet after 3 good upercuts, what on earth made the ref think JF couldn't or wouldn't continue is beyond me.Terrible decision you should be ashamed.
As they say It’s not the size of the dog in the fight But the size of the fight in the dog. Justin Fortune was still in with a fair chance of KO victory had the ref not stopped it. Having said that, it was a legit stoppage because Justin would had gladly died trying to ko Lennox Lewis. Death before dishonour. He did better than Mike Tyson did against Lenox Lewis shortly after. That’s why Emanuel Stewart chosen Justin Fortune as Lenox Lewis opponent. Because he has a very Similar build and style to Tyson. Lennox Lewis proved his own capabilities to himself that night.
@whitworth the uppercuts clearly took their toll on Fortune that resulted in Fortune falling backwards. The ref brushing Fortune had no impact on Fortune not being able to take those 3 uppercuts.
The talent to throw those three uppercuts with that speed and accuracy is incredible for a man of that size.
Was ringside for it , and yip it was impressive on the night live , I remember saying holy shit when they landed 😋
@@humangaryg You were lucky to see it dude, i was 1 years old in 1995 i got into boxing around 2009 during the Manny Pacquiao Era

Triple uppercut on the run is how he beat Mikey T.
Brilliant to see the whole thing again thanks 🇬🇧

Refs literal job is to protect both fighters. So - to borrow your phrasing - when he saw Justin “in trouble”, he did his job and stopped it.
If the late great marciano was to face any top super heavy of the 90s and after. Well heres your answer.

Mercy stoppage. Three whiplashing power uppercuts in succession.
How often do you see a fighter land three uppercuts in a row? Lewis closed this show in impressive fashion.
Kudos to Fortune, played well and showed a lot of very good elements.
AJ should watch this. Lewis was coming back off the back of defeat 2 fights earlier to McCall. Aj is at Frank Bruno's level. He'll never be close to Lewis who wouldn't have been outfought by Andy Ruiz
Lewis was quality but that was way too premature the stoppage
He got hit with 3 devastating upper cuts from a big puncher. fortune's head snapped violently back. Ref did the right thing.
Nah, that stoppage was correct. That was like 3 car crashes in quick succession.
Those unanswered shots rock your brain in a different way to more “conventional” shots rights. Good stoppage. He was going soon anyway after that if it carried on.
3 vicious uppercuts in a row with no defense is not a bad stoppage. 3 more and his head would have ended up on top of the rafters.
Buena pelea. Se ve al final que Lennox tiene poder con la derecha aun con corto recorrido
The person in the audience shouting booyaka 😂
Lennon Lewis es el mejor boxeador de todos los tiempos

Frank Maloney, who now wears knickers and a skirt and calls himself Kelly. 😮
It's Justin not Justine lol.
Wow
Yep shocking tbh
I mean, hes free to do that hut wtf,? @bensmithkent22
That ws the worst stoppage of all time.
実力差が有るにしても早すぎでしたね
Two Stone Heavier of Muscle . Fortune had no Fortune 😊
was Justine Justin's sister?
This fight was just a tune up keeping his tools sharp ready for when he got back in with the big boys .simple just keeping busy
Bad stoppage
hey ???? he is double his size
As they say
It’s not the size of the dog in the fight
But the size of the fight in the dog.

Leão. De. Londres
Another Lewis miss match!..... Payday.
Yeah we saw a lot of those remember some of Bruno's opponents
Camera shots of Lenox Lewis mother kept the opponents crowd noise down it was visual intimidation 😁
Looks the Ref shoved Fortune over, not the punches from Lewis.😮
