If there is one thing I get from this, it's that DJ Shadow understands the relationship between all different kinds of music. That, in fact, it is all one.

I don't think its a bad crowd, you don't need to put your hands in the air all the time, this kind of music its to feel deep inside your soul and not to jump all the time.
Disagree. Crowd ARE very much in the dead zone. Hospice settings. Only react when told to react. Literally can only spot two heads bopping in an appreciative way of the sound.
An astonishing display of twentieth century vinyl, musical history, and turntablalism. The audience (most of whom are 30 years younger than many of the records he plays) are a delight in their appreciation and obviously realised that they have learned so much in a few short thirty minutes. Thank you again to the Boiler Room and to DJ Shadow for another great set.

In this one everyone is standing and trying to watch and understand what Shadow is doing..! this says everything for me, even if you are not a fun of this music Shadow is taking you inside his way and his message. This is all about. This is art. Amazing!!!
As a DJ he is a master of vinyl... This isn't for the pretty-boy, party, cdj, repetitive beat scene. Boiler room ASKED him to come in and do this. He knows full well what he is doing... Fucking with the crowds minds.
I saw DJ Shadow at a music festival in Eugene, OR last weekend. He played all TRAP! Before his set he goes.. "new beats, new beats, new beats, new beats... this set is all about new beats." Just goes to show how versatile he is.
Absolutely incredible, going back to the beginning. This is how hip hop DJs used to battle. DJ D Styles, Mix master Mike even DJ Polo and Mr Mix all come to mind. This is a real talent, respect Josh, Shadow!
I’ve been a diehard fan of Shadow since Endtroducing dropped and have been following him since. I respect him because he’s not afraid to draw outside the lines, especially with his live DJ sets. As someone else mentioned, we get to witness him essentially produce an album’s worth of material and it’s LIVE!! He’s a rare breed and has been my favourite DJ because of this.
Shadow's talent has always been how he can pull obscure sounds from an encyclopedic knowledge of albums that span many decades and many genres and fuse those sounds in ways none of us could imagine... it has never been about what he can get a crowd to do or not do; dancy, sway, nod whatever. Those who know Shadow already know this and I imagine if they were in the crowd, they got what they came for. I know I did when I saw him.
He has a personal record collection of over 60,000 records. The man is a genius, so in love with music. I have been an admirer every since I first heard You Can't Go Home Again.

It's interesting because I just finished watching T. Yorke. Although I appreciate his work as a musician he is very low comparing to DJ Shadow. People should stick to their best : )
Some of them were super sloppy honestly. Still great music selection and better scratching than I can do but not even top 10 best scratching out of artists ive seen live. Still props to the man, have seen him throw down way cleaner sets than this though

Paul Millar actually, you're 100% right. About the only thing I'd say in his defense is he's one of those djs that are so big that he does what he wants and the promoter knows that going in. I liked the creative track selection and the way he blends them but the set should have been twice as long so the genre hopping had some space and room to breath.
Paul Millar that's a little harsh, brah. Did u watch the whole set? He starts out very disjointed then ends up more in a groove after 15 mins. We can agree to disagree. Peace from Akron, Ohio
