According to AF1 Racing it is recommended but not required. I am not sure if an UpMap exists yet. The other elephant in the room is Piaggio’s warranty policy, based on the statement of my dealer, if you alter the ecu software, it is reason for them to deny warranty claims. So for now I will run as is and see how it does.
The O2 came right out and I did not even bother to disconnect them. I tried initally and it gave me a bit of a headache. There is enough slack in the cable to be twisted without doing any damage. As far as justifying the cost, you are honestly fine with the stock setup and a good aftermarket Catback that has a removable db killer if you want a better sound track. The main benefit for doing this is losing weight (about 10lbs), engine running much cooler which should increase its longeveity and of course a better soundtrack. I would highly recommend a tuning solution to get the fueling right. Unfortenately if you follow my community tab you have probably seen that while UP Map does offer a map, it does so only for the EU model, so I would wait until a US Model Map becomes available. Also worth mentioning, if you do go the Big Bore Header route, do not bother with an aftermarket Catback as the map offered at the moment is only for the Big Bore header, no CAT, Sprint type airfilter while retaining the Stock Catback, just as FYI.
@@BunnyandBman Thanks for that information. I think the CAT delete would be a beneficial customization for the reasons you stated. I will be interested in seeing what if anything you decide about some travel luggage. Enjoy your rides!
Amazing sound ! Do you know if this full exhaust can fit on the new Stelvio ? As long as the mandello and the stelvio share the same engine, there is a tiny chance... Greetings from France !
Looking at the AF1racing website, none of the exhaust systems that are listed for the mandello, appear on the Stelvio section, so unfortunately I am going with no. Give it a bit time and options will trickle down! It took almost a year for the mandello to get the “good stuff “. Cheers!
How much was the new exhaust system, including the Mistral? How many hours of labor would it take to replace the system? I'm waiting to see if you encounter any problems once you start riding the bike to decide if I'd like to do the same to my bike, Any idea of the weight difference between the two systems? Are you going to reflash it?
About 1k combined, time to install both maybe an hour, it is a very easy and simple system to change out. No reflash for warranty purposes at the moment. Bike runs good as is. Riding impressions soon.

Thanks for the offer, so far so good, only hold up at the moment for the tuning is that UpMap releases the USA map, that will allow to finish up with correct fueling.
I would have preferred the S for the suspension but as a pilot, I had to have a navale. If I do it all over again, I buy the S and get the navale panels… ;)
I'm anxious to hear how it sounds on the road, especially the deceleration, listening for pops as in a previous video you posted. Will the header pipes & Y pipe change what we heard before? And, while you are not flashing to preserve the warranty for now, I wonder if that would help to eliminate the pops?
@@greg9076 I did not find any sound clips on it and did not want to spend 700 dollar on the unkown. I did find a short clip of the Mistral without the db killer and it sounded great, hence I went with it. I just saw that SC Project entered the realm as well so that might be interesting down the road since I had it on my Trident and it was amazing.

It is probably just the camera angle. Same dimension as the stock pipes just larger in diameter. I reverted back to the stock muffler as the current only ecu tune for it uses it. I am looking at SC Project down the road for replacement as it is even smaller than the stock muffler.

Yes and No, first of all if MG were to void it, they would have to prove that my modification caused the failure and if that were the case I am gladly to pay for it. For example a failure of the dash can’t hardly be blamed on a slip on or headers, hence it is still covered.
Thank you for the kind words spent for us and our product ...!

I tuned it myself via UpMap. GCorse provides some dyno charts for their various tunes. Overall much better throttle response and small gains in hp&tq.

Pops r alive and well, they are very much mode dependent, with sport being the party mode and touring being rather quiet.
Good to know. Curious as to why you didn’t go with the Agostini slip on instead of the Mistral? Especially since you used Agostini pipes?
