Whether it be Shin Megami Tensei or Persona, I find it baffling that our party gets as many downs as they want but we get knocked out once and it is immediate game over.
While it doesn't make too much sense in the Persona series, it actually makes perfect sense in SMT. Unlike in Persona, your party members aren't dear friends willing to stand by you through thick and thin no matter what. They're demons who joined you because you negotiated, threatened, or even straight up BRIBED them into helping you. They're not gonna stick around if you kick the bucket because they don't really care about you. That being said it's still kinda dumb that Persona does this too. I guess the team literally can't do anything without your leadership.

The best you can do is remember what elements the enemies in an area attack with, and try to avoid equipping Magatamas that are weak against those elements. Of course, this requires some trial and error.
@@Fermin-hw5pd That's true, but you start with Marogareh and get Iyomante pretty early, and neither of those has a weakness. You can't use them for everything, but they're good if you don't know what you're up against.
This is not a hard game, its called smt bullshit where until or unless you read a gamefaq, you will die multiple times during a blind run. for this case either the oc didnt face this enemy before or didnt expect it to show up here and hence didnt change his weakness

I remembered doing that, was punished but then again I was playing on hard and it was a blind run and I didnt refer to a guide because back during ps2 era internet wasnt easily accessible as it is now. Also I quit at matador and replayed the game on normal I believe, it was still quite a challenge at normal but honestly everything is easy nowadays if you look it up or follow a guide. It takes away the whole smt bullshit experience which is die if you dont know what to expect.
@@radgoodcoffee It's not really an SMT thing anymore either. SMT 1 and 2 were 1st person. This game, SMT III: Nocturne, is normally 3rd person but has the option to play in 1st person on a New Game+. SMT IV, IV:A, and V are all 3rd person.
Everytime a angel or foul tries to cast an instant death spell on my MC i'd shout "no no no No No NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOO" and as it does nothing or misses im like phew, then i went ahead and added null light and null dark to two of my skill slots, fuck that.
I just love how immediate it is. I love Nocturne cause if the game is gonna kick your ass, it does i't hesitate and does it immediately without warning
I'm literally stuck in that spot right now for this exact reason, I'm so relieved that it's not just me dealing with that one needlessly overpowered fire ball.
The Labyrinth leveled me from 19 to 26 without completing it. It also leveled 7 of my 8 demons to the point where they got all of their skills (which is why I left). My point is, if you're under level 15, don't go in without demons of a similar level to take fire. It'll be especially rough if your demons aren't customized via fusion.

For a majority of Nocturne, Demi will be saddled with one regardless. In fact, in the overwhelming majority of SMT games, it's rarely a choice.
