UPDATE FOR TALL PEOPLE!!! I am 6’2” and I feel like I’ve outgrown the 230. Will be moving to a 250 or bigger this summer. Looking for good prices atm.
Is it uncomfortable? I'm also 6'2 and looking to get into riding a dirt bike.
No but you could go bigger. But still works for us tall people
@@MotoJake ok sweet💯
I’m 6’1 14 and still growing but I don’t have much background with dirt bikes would this be a good bike to get
@@bethwillis9523 just get the 250f little bit bigger and has fuel injection
that's exactly why chose and bought a 2017 crf230f, low maint. I'd rather ride then have to continuously work on. Yes, Wish it had more front end lifting power but still a wonderful bike.
I've been riding a 230 for ages 2015. Easy to lift the front in first and second but can't lift in 3rd.
Decent in sand but struggles heaps in soft sand and won't climb steep.sand hills unless u hve a good.run up.
Good going over whoopties for shor distances otherwise u hve to work seriously hard to keep the front up which I cant coz my arms cramp after a while.
Suspension is not too great for going over bumpy terrain but easily manages.
Great bike overall for all terrain and never breaks down, I've had mine go through mud holes, deep ponds, rivers, streams and the ocean so shes a hearty bike and will last forever with little to no maintenance 😎
You can wheelie any bike with a clutch. The rear brake lever should be higher than your peg for braking while standing as well as while leaned back and descending. Bike is sprung for a 120 pound Asian man. Us Americans need to swap the springs on almost any dirt bike. Only the European bikes come sprung for around 160 and that’s being conservative. .42 fork springs and a 5.2 shock spring is good for 160-180. Add some emulators to the forks and that’s about the most bang for your buck in suspension improvement that your gonna get. People race these in stock form and get funny looks but it’s much more enjoyable to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow 👍
Pennsylvania Dual Sport and it’s also fun to ride a fast bike fast. Lol the 450r you’d be trying to ride slow all day but the 250 is easier to push to it’s limits.
You can adjust the height of the rear brake petal by turning the bolt that stops the brake lever as the spring pushes it up.
Dwight Crapson well yeah. same with shifter too
Thank you for the video. I've stopped riding for a few years now and was thinking of a trail bike. Still have my CR250R I miss the rush of racing but a little old now. I'm going to check this bike out.
Trail ride only now but at least I'll be riding again.
Hal Roy that’s good. I’m getting a CBR next riding season so I won’t be on dirtbikes for a while. Be careful when you’re back to it.
Good transitions and editing.
Never had a 230f but i just bought the new 250f which is the replacement for the 230f. I only have about 3 months experience on it but on single tracks im right behind the the ktm and beta guys...
I got one too and went to town on it. Yoshi pipe, air box mod, race tech springs and shock, moose inserts, thing is amazing once I get the ejk I’m opening up the top of the air box completely it’s going to pull nice!
Gday I also own a 2017 CRF230f but I can't manage to wheelie can you give me some tips please?
Very good question. I believe I am going to make a video tonight after I can go out and get some footage explaining how you can learn to wheelie on this bike. You also will get a shutout in the beginning. :) Sound good?
Yes get the crf250F lol
Logan Sinclair i’m very light and i can get it up and wheelie it. you gotta go in second and pop the clutch. you need to pop the clutch on this bike or else you won’t be able to get it up. it’s a lot easier on the road but for starting off go in a field or grass
Caden W I’m able to do it in 3rd and 4th up a hill. Idk why others have trouble. I haven’t done any power upgrades that I can remember.
MotoJake same. no power upgrades or anything to my bike. it’s bone stock. i can wheelie it like nothing. it’s just practice
have you changed or rejetted carburetor etc?
doug gillis nope. Haven’t messed with it
just curious if you did anyting to your camera to eliminate the wind noise ? I was impressed with how little wind noise you had
The mic is inside my helmet - its an external microphone
Is there a reason why these are cheap? I found one online in mint condition for 2500$ with low miles. Guy probably rode it 10 times. Its really clean. Does that sound like a good deal?? Thanks!
yeah if there’s nothing wrong with it that’s amazing. The MSRP is $4100
@@MotoJake Wow you're fast! Let me see if I can share the link if you care to take a look if you don't mind. Im a little green when it comes to bikes as I used to be into them when I was in my late teens early 20s 15 years ago....Let me try to post the link.....
Ok. If it doesn’t go through you can send to my Snapchat @jacobiramsey1 or my Instagram @ytmotojake
@@MotoJake cool, did it go through? If not I'll pop on IG
@@MotoJake thanks again, I really appreciate it! Earned a new sub!
I'm thinking about getting those same clutch and brake do you like them?
Austin Mcclure actually... I broke them 😂
Are they reliable?
If you consider a broken down ford reliable... yeah sure.
Linda moto e perfeita gostei parabéns a
obrigado!
Can this catch up with a 250
No
Would you recommend the 230f or the 250f?
250f
Hey, I got some levers for my bike that look the exact same as yours and on the brake side they fit side but the clutch side does not fit do you know where I can get the perch?
Not sure, but if you want to easily find good parts that fit, try motosport.com
Not paid promotion. lol
MotoJake ill try it out thanks
Can you tell us what suspension mods you did? $200 is pretty cheap!
I didn't do it but I did some research and it was the cheapest I could possible get. No promises it would last long.
again... I didn't BUY it

Complete forks under $200
We're all good... and are you surprised I was able to provide a link? lol
riverstrat true but it wouldn’t be hard to find out... not that I’m going to waste the money tho. I’m getting Honda xr650L soon
Do you think it woukd be good for a 14 year old
Would be perfect!
I have the SAME bike it's a beauty
Jesus Galvan yea it really is.
I’m 5’4 155lbs do you think this is a good size bike.
Hoapili Kealoha honestly you probably need a size down. If you’re experienced, I’d say buy the “CRF 150R” or if you’re a beginner, the “CRF230F.” But if you go to a Honda dealer, they should let you sit on it to see how big it is on you and if you can touch the floor on each side, you’re good.
MotoJacob my first bike is a crf 125f I really want a powerful and trailbike at the same time but don’t like to do that much maintenance on a dirt bike but I notice the 150r has more maintenance than the 230f which is alright I mean it’s a learning experience than being lazy which iam haha.
Hoapili Kealoha oh yeah. I know. I had owned the 250R before and it was a quick bike. But the Honda CRF150f isn’t as slow as people say it is. When I get the chance, I’ll get my friends bike and make a review for the Honda CRF 150f
MotoJacob I actually test drove the crf 150f I like the height size a lot I just hate how heavy it is when I push it up. How much lighter are the 150r than the 150f 30lbs lighter? 230? Srry so much questions lol
MotoJacob i wouldn’t mind getting the 150r I mean if I wanted to go back to a trail bike I have the 125f . There’s just so many to choose from even the 140 klg looks nice
I’m 5’9 anyone know if this bike is a good fit- also will be my first bike I need something I’m not going to grow right out of
You'd probably be fine. Go to a dealership and sit on the 150f vs the 230f.
Yeah. Honestly, I'd say its a good fit for you.
kawasaki KLX 140G....is a solid learner bike
and I'm 5'9"
Honda Crf 250 r
Not a good bike for racing in any sense. A great trail bike but on track it will get its doors absolutely blown off.
Depends on who the rider is. But yes, it is definitely not easy to race this bike because it's too dang heavy and would get passed up by any racer unless the rider on the 230f is like a professional. Then there's a chance. But let's just keep it on the trails like you're saying.
if you’re gonna race get a crf250r
shlacked I already had one. And it was pretty sweet. I’m not gonna race tho. Too busy with work. getting a sport bike tho
