getting a whole lot harder to be a skilled worker and make a survivable wage is what i'm hearing on the other side of the coin. companies like to say "nobody wants to work" and that's why they replace you with a robot. workers say "nobody wants to pay". who's right? who's wrong? are we really convinced that no young people have the desire to work anymore, is it just that simple?
"Nobody wants to work" is the justification used by big corporations, msm and government here in Australia for importing 2mil+ foreigners in the last 2 years while there is rental vacancy rate of under 1%... Its a lie
I think times changes since inflation hit $20 an hour used to be ok to be a welder now at least by me in tampa florida area I’m a welder fabricator and look still at indeed emails from time to time and companies are hiring for $20-$22 an hour but they want experience and welding is a labor intensive job and most of the time your in the hot or dealing with hot things too you have to know a lot not just how to weld which is definitely one thing but how to fabricate and keep parts square level and in tolerance that’s another skill for around $20 give or take an hour. Where I think welding jobs haven’t really raised wages with inflation yea they raised rates but not wages. Where you can go to Walmart or a big box store start at $20 maybe more an hour a lot easier may be heated and air conditioning too you don’t have to know a lot. That’s where I think the lack of welders wanting to work yea they wanna work but not for the same wages as Walmart is paying the welding wages need to double even if rates have to go up too electricians mechanics plumbers all charge a lot why can’t welders. That’s just what I’m seeing here in Florida I’m getting close to the point of switching careers there’s not anything decent paying by me I love welding but when it’s hard to make a living you can only deal with it for so long I’m sure there’s good paying companies too but not as many
The problem is most places making products are competing against China. If you can’t make the parts for China prices, you don’t get the job. Which means low wages and robots unfortunately
@@rusty_restorations36 It's not just welding and fabrication work, it's everything that requires knowledge . Truck drivers and mechanics are taking big hits in the last 15 years or so . But it's funny how the shops are charging 125.+ per hr. but a mechanic isn't the guy seeing any of that big money . Half of those workers aren't American anymore either ...
