    I cannot wait for a 3d printable Airbus side stick!! I printed my own joystick but as an attachment for other joysticks

      @Relics_tv justv3 more parts to convert to CAD, then I get to analyse each part and make it 3d printable for everyone.

      @helimech8152 I'm so excited!!! I have been working in cad with all kinds of parts in an effort to have a full A318/319/320/321 cockpit able to be made. I had initially planned to modify your Boeing CDU into a Airbus MCDU and create a throttle quadrant but don't have the time. I'd love to be able to make a A330 as well.

    I've been waiting for a video like this. I've always been curious how these parts were made for an airbus. Very simple... Even I could make this out of aluminum in my little machine shop. Thanks for sharing this information. I'm curious if there is any 'return-to-center' dampers, so the stick doesn't spring back to center so quickly. Thanks for sharing.

      @sky173 hello, each line has its own fluid filled damper, you can see those in the first video on the sidestick.

    Karl, this is amazing engineering. Even tells us he has figured out where to order the original springs with a smile on his face.

    • @helimech8152
      @helimech8152  Час назад

      That was a stroke of luck, I think that manufacturer is going to get a lot of orders for those particular springs

    Absolutely interesting to see how the PAFU is designed! Thx for this insight, Karl.
    Wishing you a great Christmas time, and looking forward to next episode!

    'Nough talk... Now shut up and take my money!!!!
    Karl, even though I stumbled upon some of your designs by chance completely free, when I learned who the creator is and saw your site, I decided to buy my 737 mcp, efis, rudder, yoke and fmc, so that I can support your awesome work. Can't wait for the airbus yoke!!!!!!!!!

    Do you think the mechanisms could be simplified or shrunk package wise whilst still retaining the exact feel? That's my spontaneous thought, since all most will care about is the feel. Amazing to see that it's so simple, the way I heard the feel described got me thinking it would have hydraulic dampers! I can't wait to see your version finished!

    • @helimech8152
      @helimech8152  Час назад

      Hi Nick, It could easily be shrunk i think, but for the time being i will continue with 1:! reproduction until i get to the analysis part and change the design for 3d printing. This is only one part of 3 that control the pitch lane. It also has a damper and other devices on the control lane.

    This is really cool. Love the work you do. I got into 3D printing because of your videos. Is PLA strong enough for this or would it be better to use a different material?

    • @helimech8152
      @helimech8152  Час назад

      Hi Nate, No idea yet, but PLA looks more than strong enough right now. I usually stick with PLA and design the parts around it. Thickening the parts or making the stronger to cope with the loads.

    I'm curious on how you'll design the dampers for 3d printing. Since your first A320 sidestick video, I've been trying it myself but due to the fdm process leaving a textured finish, I can't get a proper seal or a smooth enough surface.

    • @helimech8152
      @helimech8152  Час назад

      After taking one apart, i gave up. It could be done with resin printed parts, but in the ned it was easier and quicker just to buy a pre built damper assembly.

    Great job Karl. So do you prefer Fusion 360 over Solid Works? I got a Bambu Labs X1C. Got me a Solid Works Maker sub. But before I commit I'm trying to see what other people prefer.

    • @helimech8152
      @helimech8152  Час назад

      Hello, I learned on fusion360 from when i discovered it in 2015/6. That's all i know really and have never used solid works. Im trapped in the fusion360 bubble as i don't want to spend months learning a new software.
