@@michelleper5065 Doing beautiful plays consistently matters. I can't find a 100 dribbles by Maradona, but easily can find such a 20 minute video of Messi and still that doesn't cover lot of his good plays. There was a 50 minute one by another channel (you may videos that time are not available now, but without that being there, how can we know). I have watched his play in 86, 90 etc. And yes, watched this as well as othe videos of him. You may not appreciate what Messi is doing, because there is not much extravagant moves, but it is so effective. I can never understand this Messi is child before Maradona, pele etc. He is equally good and has died ne that much more consistently against quality opposition for so long.

An absolute joy to have been alive to see Maradona grace a football field when defenders could kick him waist high, the football was heavy in comparison yo the modern day and the pitches could be terrible. Messi, Ronaldo and other modern day stars etc would be happy to polish this man's boots

Maradonas peak was early when he was thin. 1976 to 1984. Yes 86 was incredible at the world cup but he stood out because he actually trained. In napoli you could see his fast decline because of his lifestyle and he rarely trained. Once a week sometimes. In his early years he was the best player we will ever see on earth

Right. But also keep in mind that he always suffered from bad injuries and had a broken ankle since 1983 which got infected regularly. Considering his lifestyle, his cocaine addiction and the punishment he took on the pitch it's no wonder he crashed hard in Napoli. It's unbelievable how he could still even play football at such a high level. I remember one game against Moscow in the 1990/91 european cup season when he was deeply into his addiction and they played in Napoli and Maradona was so brilliant that day that Napoli should have won like 5:0 because he created so many chances but his team mates just couldn't score. In the away game in Moscow they lost in the penalty shoot out and Maradona had chartered a private jet to get there because he had been paryting all week and missed the flight with his team.

People say Messi is better than him really in which world. Look at the treatment he was getting in the video. Messi would have gone home crying, the game is much softer you can’t even sneeze without a player falling over. Maradona was worlds ahead of Messi the comparison being Messi played with some of the greatest players in the world at Barca where he learnt off them. While teams marked other players in the team he could make himself look great. With Maradona he played for a poor Napoli side and won the league and cup with them. Messi never had to do that as the team were great with or without him. Then Maradona dragged an average Argentina team and made them World Cup Winners. If only Messi got half of this treatment, I would love to see how he would react.

Yes, everyone can have their own opinion about certain football players or teams and we should respect them. But, after re-watching this video and once again refreshing the memory of Maradona's game, for me personally there is no question as to which of the two big "M" I consider the best. Yes, the one about whom many (and many) songs were written; the one literally deified in the city where he played (which was not in the country of his birth and citizenship). And the number of Golden Balls or scored goals is all frankly nonsense.
