I have both the M20 and X100 and more or less agree with you. I have used the X100 a lot for quick location lighting which works great however after 4 months of use my battery died as well. They sent me a replacement quite quickly which was great service however I do question how long the replacement battery will last.
I now pack a usb c pd power bank as a backup.

The battery integration is GENIUS, but such a bummer people are having issues with it. Hopefully your replacement stands the test of time.

the m20 is a mixed bag. got it for a test but returned it. there is a bi-color and a full RGB version. the bi-color version can't be controlled via app, the RGB version can. with full power, the fan gets very noisy, to much for a small interview light. also its a battery sucker when full powered. with half of the power, fan is silent, but there is no point with the low output of 10W. similar small lights have no fan - if other lights have some lens system on it, its a concentration of light output with low wattage, low size, no noise. the M20 is bulky - specially with all the cage and stuff you have to have, to control the wide beam. so all together, its not a good package for most use cases. only thing it works if you need a single light with wide spread, battery driven and noise is no problem. then its cool to have a 20W output.

Overall, I think this is a good assessment. Definitely has some very cool features and design choices, but wouldn't use it close to a microphone. But fun and easy to use for things like a car light or product shots.
