Released in 1989, Tough Turf tries to follow in the footsteps of Double Dragon, but falls short of practically every count. The graphics are drab and uninspired, and the gameplay equally dull, with little variety in the way of moves or combat techniques.
There's little else that's notable about the game, and it's really just another also-ran in the beat 'em up genre.

the idea of a salary man fighter is great, its original than other typical fighters in jeans or combat outfit
1 minute in and I'm dying to know if he's on his way to or from the office.
Acording to Wiki page, this game has no storyline. I guess I can make up my own.
Long day at office made Kurt and Jim wanting to unwind with some karaoke but local gang had destroyed all their favorite bars in the city. This must not go by unpunished and Kurt and Jim set out for revenge. As their anger gets so intense and weighs so heavily on them, they must rent a truck to deliver them to the gang grounds. There they must defeat the evildoers and fiercely battle their way all the way from the industry zone to the top to leader of the gang, Boris, in his mansion. They must beware as Boris has caged a woman in a dress in his lair that will be released upon his demise. Spending so long in the dark has made her mad and she attacks our heroes as well. Kurt and Jim have no choice but to defend themselves against the crazed lady, but can they survive?
I just like the fact your guy is wearing slacks and a tie - definitely had a bad day at the office.

Me too. Lol. James Spader was a preppy, but became thug when his parents moved after his father's business went bankrupt. Tuff Turf (1985). I always called it Rebel Without A Cause 2.

Yep - it's just so bland. It reminds me of Vigilante, mixed with Double Dragon - I wasn't impressed.
Music is good though.

Well, as said in the description, not the best beat'em up ever done, but at least there are no slowdowns unlike Double Dragon :-p
And the final bonus count takes ages!
Scores in battling only takes hundred thousands but bonus can get into millions😉
There's actually a cool little trick to that. Typically, you're given a very specific amount of time to complete a level, but if you're still on your first credit, instead of RESETTING to that value upon either a stage start or a continue, it ADDS TO the current amount of time you have, letting you bank it for the big bonus at the end. So, if you 1CC the game, you've probably built up an absolute assload of time in the process, hence the giant bonus that takes forever to tally up - continue and you're maxing out at about 60 seconds.
The reason there's no slowdown is because this game is running on Sega's more powerful System 16 Board with Motorola 68k CPU at higher than normal clock speed. Despite the impressive graphics with Double Dragon, technically it's an 8-Bit game running on 8-Bit CPU. There's a 2nd 6809 CPU but that's purely to run the FM Chip and audio samples in tandem with the main CPU running at around 3Mhz. 😃

This kind of classic arcade games does humiliate all the consoles... I say I have not seen a remastered title of these classics and that the rights to do so are very old.

Double dragon Version Alike
Pretty heavy inspiration from Double Dragon, just 10X more generic. Pretty funny. Next time I am on my way to beat some ass, I am going to wear nerdy ass office attire and comb my hair like a douche. They'll never see it comin!
Edit: So wait, he rescued the girl, she was mad at him for some reason... Then he calls her a punk, proceeds to beat her ass.... The END? What a story! Thats definitely some Tough Turf!

I'm reading people's comments on here and I'm seeing ya'll points and some them got me laughing cracking up but me myself personally think this game looks good and I'm just able to appreciate a beat em up were the damn weapon just don't fly our disappear out of you're damn hands once complete a level that's just me‼️🤷🏿♂️

This was a terrible game. It came out the same year as Final Fight and Golden Axe which were excellent.
