If the Emperor had listened to Thrawn there wouldn't be a New Republic.
Yeah…the prequels really bring into question how Palpatine went from a 4d chess master to the type of dude who’d build the same failure twice as oppose to anything else.
I would say that, considering the threat from beyond the galaxy, Palpatine did nothing wrong.
Except that The Force probably would have worked in mysterious ways and found a balance regardless

@@creed8712 The absolutely most essential character trait to understand in Palpatine is his MASSIVE ego. When youre not in charge ego tends to become ambition and hence it allowed him to stay humble as long as it was required for his plans. The moment he got absolute power all that suppressed ego overflowed and turned him into a shell of a man obsessed with compensating for the years he had to hide what he percieves as his own greatness. Any intelligence and rational thought would be drowned in a sea of self love, ego and superiority complexes. He was just as intelligent in his later years but his confidence in having achieved all his goals and being a god in his own eyes made him feel like he had no need to think or scheme. He truly believed that there was no possible future where he wasnt emperor for eternity.
You know, if Thrawn, rather than Tarkin, was the Imperial officer that Vader worked with most frequently, the Empire likely would've won against the Rebellion 🤔

Tarkin was a politician, not a soldier, which is the entire reason he lost. The efforts to retcon him as both were so ridiculous.
@@XJ0461C I wouldn't say there was any retcon to make him both. There was a development of story to show he has a military background, but that does not make him a good soldier. He's shown as a politician in a uniform all the way from the Clone Wars through to Episode 4. His sheer incompetence in military tactics is evident right from the moment you first see him.
@@sorrrbet4923 The comics making him a sport hunter who almost defeated Vader with a child soldier upbringing and a six pack under his coat at the time of Alderaan's destruction were a bit of a stretch for me. The entire point of the original film was he did not understand military strategy at all, he gives every indication of being a politician who has never seen armed combat. He may be incompetent but he has also canonically won battles before. I find his arrogance not to evacuate more believable if he hasn't ever been in the position of a soldier.
@@XJ0461C having read this and taking it under consideration my opinion of Tarkin has changed dramatically. That comic really doesn’t make much sense when put in line with his consistent incompetence.
Bruh Thrawn critues the Death Star to Palpatine's face and doesn't even flinch when Darth Vader shows up. My man got galaxy sized balls of beskar.
Confidence in his intelligence and value. No petty feelings, just ruthless efficiency. An amazing villain.
There is a reason he is the true Heir to the Empire.
Dont forget that he is a Chiss. They are very intelligent creatures.

He was great in this comic. I actually prefer him to Marc Thompson's audiobook version, which is fantastic btw

@@11geosno Thrawn did not know yet that Anakin and Vader were the same. Palpatine said he died during the Clone Wars when they first met and he asked about him. Thrawn later figured it out though, much to Vader's chagrin.

@@michaelbracho3956 Later after spending more time with him, yes. Here, I think it was too soon for him to put two and two together as he only knew Vader's name.
Very, *very* few are allowed to openly question Darth Sidious about anything, and I think it’s because Thrawn does it from a point of view that’s still solely subservient, and backed up by legitimate logic. That cold fearlessness must be why Sidious wanted him so high in the Empire.
The Emperor also deeply respected Thrawn.

It's also due to his role - as Grand Admiral, he must look at the larger strategic picture.
Thrawn was also atypical in that non-humans didn't tend to advance very far up the ranks.
Thrawn is one of the only people that Vader couldn't read, which is pretty darn impressive. I loved how Thrawn kept throwing subtle hints at Vader's identity, but Vader had no idea what to do with it because he couldn't tell if Thrawn was toying with him or not.

What I love is how Thrawn not only tells the Emperor in his face that it's a bad idea to bet everything on one Death Star, he was right twice. You just know that when they started building that planet sized one he would have had a fit over how stupid it is to put even more resources into a planet sized Death Star just on the grounds it's even more vulnerable than the Moon sized one
3 times, if you count the First Order's attempt in the new trilogy.
I love how in every situation Thrawn is in, he's in COMPLETE control. Even when facing the emperor who he knows damn well is incredibly evil. He has no problem asking him about a top secret project he's not supposing to know about because he knows he's far too valuable for the Emperor to kill. Heck, the ending of this particular trilogy Thrawn wins against his opponent while standing on his enemy's bridge the entire battle.
"You're not going to kill me."
"How do you know?"
"Because..." (explains in detail)
"Oh crap, you're right."
The genius of Thrawn is in seeing the connections in little details that others miss, and from them extrapolating an accurate pattern. His only defeats resulted from circumstances he couldn't have known in advance.

Dude the subtly of your voice acting is so nice. People tend to overdo the emperor, because he's so larger than life, but I love how you make him sound like a believable person.

Nah don't worry Kathleen Kennedy won't ruin this because John Favreau literally threatened to leave Disney because of her and the other Producer said what he wanted to stay and he said I just want to work on Ashoka without her interrupt my work and change it for the worse 😂 and that's why he is the second goat director/writer of lucasfilm

That source didn't give their source. They just said that it's been confirmed.
I'm also not going to believe an article who uses opinions as objective terms. They said TFA, TLJ, TRoS, and Solo were bad movies.
I don't necessarily disagree with that opinion, but they're stating it like it's objective. It comes across as someone from the Fandom Menance writing it, which eventually leads to bias.
RUclipsrs that are in The Fandom Menance constantly disapprove of Kathleen Kennedy, and defend Filoni, Faverou, etc. This same behavior seems to be radiating from this article, and I just cannot trust it for that reason.

Probably because he realizes how dangerous he can be if he was against the empire. Thrawn has shown he can win in unwinnable situations.

thrawn's such a dope character, I never had access to starwars comics growing up, this channel has been amazing in showing my the awesome history of the starwars story.
Whoever is voicing Thrawn is such a perfect fit that I wish they could voice Thrawn in all official media as well
VERY nice voice acting! So much better than some of the AI programs people have been using. A real voice always sounds so much better. Kudos to Thrawn’s voice, really captured his particular cadence
I like how Thrawn is respected enough by Sidous. Like Thrawn finding out about the Death Star? Any other imperial officer probably would be have been killed instantly.

There’s something about rebels Vader design, the more slender and refined look makes him more menacing tho Vader always commands a room when he enters

Thrawn is such a great character. In retrospect it was a good thing Disney didn't touch him in their trilogy.

I suggest making the background black or grey instead of white. I believe that would make the viewing experience much more pleasant.

Thrawn certainly had a point where a solid Imperial Navy would be able to suppress a Rebellion better than a single massive star station. Considering that a single Death Star was a huge resource sink, not to mention the personnel. And of course Palpatine had to build an even bigger one...
It’s a no wonder they lost the following battles after ROTJ, they just didn’t have enough Imperial forces to keep up with the growing Rebellion.
So nice of Palpatine to gift Thrawn his chewing gum.
Powerful. I heard the audio books on audible. But the comics and voices here are better. Grand Admiral Thrawn is one of my favorite villains. I would say he's Stat Trek's version of Kahn but more cold and extremely calculating.

Don't remember much of their relationship in EU, but in Disney version Vader actually has respect for Thrawn, and one of those who support his tie-defender project. Beside Thrawn being a genius he also greatly respect, that he is not working for personal glory. Unlike the overwhelming majority of the Imperial high command who only seek self interest. Even if that interest is in collision of the Imperial interests.
This scene always makes me wonder how many Star Destroyers are sitting in shipyards because they don’t have the materials to repair them due to the death star siphoning so many resources.
Then I think of the magical fleet Palpatine has in one of those sequel movies and I believe I may have an answer. (I never actually watched the movies so Idk if it is answered how he got them)

If only Thrawn hadn't been forced to work with idiots...then the rebels would've likely been eradicated really early. He only lost due to factors that were out of his control (which include his officers being stupid).
I still wish we actually got a more visual display of Thrawn and Vader together. I know there are books but I would like to actually SEE more.
One of the lesser-known side effects of falling to the Dark Side is an obsession with really big superweapons and the delusion that "It'll definitely work this time! All those past failures were flukes!"
