The crash/ride sounds amazing, looks like it's so much fun to keep in control with the stick, always wait for OMNOM music, 11 years wait and seeing you play a demo brings a lot of joy to my soul, thanks guys
@@DaveyAllison94 I bought it. It's pretty light. It has enough stick definition to be useful. the bell is cool, but not very bright. It's useable though. It's kind of like if a transition ride, a polyphonic ride, and a vintage pure ride mixed together. The crash/ride is definitely the highlight.
I believe it's more of a crash than a ride since any large crash (≥ 19-20") can be used as a ride. And yes, I understand it says crash-ride. It's just my observation on large crash cymbals.
You are an absolute beast and clearly a master of your craft. So fun to watch you groove in the pocket and then just throw something extremely complex out and it looks effortless and you always hit so hard. I haven't seen a drummer with such smooth work on the cymbals since Dave Abbruzzese and you are the Chad Smith of your genre.
That crash ride is sweet! Love how distinct it is in the mix. I know someone had mentioned that it sound like it needs something but I think the lack of that certain frequency is what makes it stand out in a good way. Sounds awesome.
I’ve shown my son your playing since the day he was born (specifically Lunes) and oddly we both always have the same look of amazement😂! Now that he is 1yo he beats on everything in the house and prefers cymbals over all when behind my kit with me… I’m nowhere near your level, but I hope one day he can be… Amazing as always… Can’t wait to hear and see more from ya brotha! All the best to you and those you love!🍻🤘🏻
I'm with you man! Not sure what my 1yo likes better, my ride or open hi hat. Then he'll walk around the basement hitting anything from the lawnmower to my wife's bike. He's still kind of fussy with this kind of music (Periphery and the like), let alone the heavier stuff I listen to. Hopefully he'll come around!
@@npc5z That's awesome bro! My son really enjoys listening to the playthroughs and instrumentals with me... I might suggest you try some Matt Greiner playthroughs of Paramount or some of his others? When my son sees the joy it brings to my face and I'm head bobbin or playing on my legs or the table or something and I'm doing my counts he sees the fun of it and starts bobbin his head along with me... I say all that in hopes your son sees the fun it brings to your heart and wants to experience that too... I hope he does come around and you get to have a jam buddy for life brother! All the best to you, your son, and everyone you love!🍻🤘
@@ragintexan1 Oh good call with the Greiner playthroughs and giving him the opportunity to see the joy of it. Very good point! Ha, I'll be playing on my legs and he'll put his hands on top of mine or get down and put his hands on my feet. Thanks man!
wooohooo just randomly seeing this in my feed - instant listen))) love this guy! passionate and ultra professional - just like other band members - I have been to their live gig and this is one of my best memories ever)) thank you guys for this content)
I want this song where do I find for download ... if not, available den, DAMN IT!, SHOULD BE :) very Brazilian (Bossa Nova Metal) to me and I'm from Fortaleza, Brasil
who composed this, is it only related to this Meinl demo or is it a band ? I am not a big fan of Periphery (not because of the drummer obviously, Matt is a drumming god to me) so I don't know it very well but I don't think this is a song from Periphery, or is it ?
Thanks everyone! Hope you dig this playthrough. Any questions, let me know!
It's absolutely superb!
Matt, are you playing with that new Evans Heavyweight dry head on the snare?
@@MrMrStouffer Yep!
what type of evans drumheads do u use for the toms? also curious about the bass drum batter head. what do u use?
I wasn't even aware you were a part of OMNOM, are you playing drums for this entire record? (if so that's sick)
The crash/ride sounds amazing, looks like it's so much fun to keep in control with the stick, always wait for OMNOM music, 11 years wait and seeing you play a demo brings a lot of joy to my soul, thanks guys
I’m curious to see what the actual ride and bell sound like on it because the crash sounds amazing!
@@DaveyAllison94 I think he's playing the same thing on the satellites video (most recent).

Man I was NOT expecting that opening groove! What a bop!
One of the most expressive faces in drumming. Great kit, great cymbals, great playing. Cheers to Matt and Meinl!
ha ha ha, I thought the same. But, have you ever seen John Weathers perfomaces?

Omg this song is soo beautiful specially towards the end! Definitely play this song over and over
That ending gave me Lune vibes. Fantastic performance as always Matt.
Elliot Coleman riffs are always so good

Halpern always kills it. Awesome playthrough
The guy is an absolutely BEAST on drums.
My dude Matt killing it as always! Great job Meinl and Nolly for another extremely well produced video.
That had a little bit of everything. Excellent.

I am a simple man, I see Matt Halpern, I click!! Also SHOOO that groove!!! 🎧😆👌
those drum tones are beyond awesome.
It's really beautiful, it reminded me of that day when I saw for the first time how Satelited was interpreted by Periphery
Insane groove 🔥 One of the most inspiring drummers in modern metal!
That hat is uh-hundred percent gold.
Super tasty drumming, looks effortless and incredibly fun. Nice jam Matt!
The Halpern Game in full effect at 3:10.
YAAAAS. This whole song was beautiful, but I was waiting for the flood gates to be released
Long time no see! So glad to see this matt's play
Tricky one, good work Matt 💗
Love the two bears hat Matt haha Bert would be proud.

Nice ride sound!!!!
Insane 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Latin meets djent, this whole thing grooves!
I know this is an OMNOM song, but I would love to hear a Sponce vocal part on this. I can picture the melodies in my head.
He's wearing a 2 Bears 1 Cave hat!!!! Super high and tight!!!!
Matts expressions looks like he is trying to hold a sneeze and a fart in at the same time and frankly I love it.
Amazing.
Nice 2Bears1Cave hat dawgie
That main beat sounds like Calypso! So sick!
hahaha Calypso
It feels like a latin groove for sure

Best sounding snare in the game
Of Man Not Of Machine?!
Been a fan since forever and I've no reason to fall out of astonishment.
Can anyone tell me where I can get Matt's shirt? jfc
Outside of the amazing sound, those are some sexy drum shells
Very good bro🇧🇷

Groovy
WAIT is that a 2 bears 1 cave hat????
He is no Chomo lol. Gotta keep those Jeans high and tight.
Ending chord progression sounds very similar to It’s Only Smiles
Dude yeah) I just listen it and think - lol it's Smiles end theme?)😅
Looking like Matt garstkas setup here. Works for all Matts it looks like.
I'm guessing It's Only Smiles was derived from this based on the ending.
Matt is back, but hey, where’s the deep V’s ?
🔥🔥🔥🔥
That R&D crash ride…I need to know more….
Favorite part is 02:27 - 02:59
Why no v neck? ✌️
Algún día 🥲

It's a demo from a music project that Misha and Elliot Coleman involved in. Of Men Not Of Machines (OMNOM). I'm surprised it's still a thing.
@@mentatification oh great thanks!
This is a great country song
Jesus Christ this guy is scary good.
What drum kit? Those shells are amazing
Nice! Metal Samba!)
Nice
Progressive Regueton!
Man I always knew Trey Parker was a skilled musician but this is some next level shit
he and jay from tesseract sound so similar 😊 👍
MetalFlow!!
Nice groove..
Pearl Drums

No Croissant V-neck? 🤔
The thought of hearing Elliot Coleman on this is already making me tear up 😭😭
I know we don't see them but I gotta wonder. does Matt ever make a mistake?

NEW PERIPHERY!!!!!!!!
Omnom, Misha, Mark, and Elliot Coleman's old project.
Edit: Which seems to be coming back!?

some Stella Konitopoulou vibes in the beginning
💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
It’s Only Smiles much?
So this is not gonna be a periphery song? This is so sick.
NOM NOM
It looks like Matt is contractually obligated to a certain number of cymbal hits per second on average
