what would you say the flex is between 1-5 on these? I like em alot but do alot of archery spot and stalking / still hunting and want something that i can still feel the ground well with
If a 1 is hard sole mountaineering boots and 5 is a cabelas knee high rubber hunting boot, my opinion is they are 2-2.5. They are much stiffer than any regular hunting boot I have ever owned. But they are not as stiff as my buddies $1000 mountain hunting boots that i tried on. If you need to feel what is under your foot at all times then pass on these. But for long distances in mountains or rocky terrain, they are a go.
I wear a medium weight sock when hunting/hiking above 25 degrees or so. Usually the redhead brand, they are too hot for normal wear and not thick enough for duck hunting. I would not wear thicker socks than what i was wearing when i am mountain hunting like that. If i needed to wear really heavy weight socks (like what i wear in duck waders for below 20 degrees i would definitely go up a size.
I wear the comfort light hikers. Best boots I ever owned, the insole made of cork is brilliant.
I ordered a pair today, they didn’t have 12.5 so hopefully the 13s will do.
Did the top part by your ankle ever break in and not hurt anymore?
I have used them on numerous long hikes and they are comfortable for me while wearing good marino wool socks.

If you were wearing heavy socks would you of gone up to a 11.
