I’m currently designing my own houseboat that expands from 8 feet wide to 12 feet just before it is launched into a lake or slow moving river, and can be used as an RV trailer in campgrounds or out in the wilderness and this is the RUclips video that I’ve been looking for. I plan to live in my houseboat/RV most of the time and can’t imagine doing it without a good internet connection, so thank you Elon Musk & Starlink! And thank you for this review of how it works.
Long-term Starlink beta tester here: Obstructions are definitely the #1 thing to look out for. Roaming is now universal for all Starlink owners, so there is no advantage to changing your service address anymore -- I recommend keeping it at your principal location if possible. Service while roaming is first-come first-serve, with service address users being prioritized higher. Also, no need to reset after install as over the next 24-48 hours your dish and router will be receiving firmware updates and will restart automatically if any are applied.
We sold our home and now transitioning to living full-time in our RV. My Starlink also arrives today. Only two week wait period. Stoked. I make a lot of videos and upload them to my membership website, so like you, I need fast upload speeds. Telus doesn’t give me what I need so I’m hoping Starlink will. Thanks for this video. It was great info.
Always do a reboot from within the Starlink App on the wifi and the router once a day. That will dramatically help with speeds... Also put the dish into stow mode and then hit un stow once a day and that will also force to dish to find a more preferred satellite which helps the speeds big time. I am in a waitlist area with the RV vesion and my speeds are always up near 70-100Mb download. Get 2-3 mesh units as well.... Huge difference !! AWESOME!!!
We attached the pedestal to two pieces of 2x4's each 30" long. We put the now modified pedestal on the top of our slideout (slideout roof) and then installed the Starlink antenna into the pedestal. Then plugged the cable into the antenna, brought the cable down the side of the RV underneath and through the same hole that the water hose goes through. We put the router in the front basement and used duck tape to tape it in place. Then we plugged the power cable into the router and hid all the extra wire behind the bulkhead and plugged the router into an electricle socket that was already in the basement. This way when we get underway we disconnect the antenna from the router and store everything in the RV. AND, our system is less likely to leave home without us & strong winds don't knock it over.
Even though we don't have our RV yet, I received our Starlink kit yesterday. Ordered Tuesday 04/05, delivered Saturday 04/09 to Fallon, Nevada (one of the closest available service addresses to us, plus I was heading out that way to try and do a little fly fishing). Had it shipped to a mailing/shipping store there, set the dish up on my tonneau cover, plugged the router into my Jackery and in less than 15 minutes I got 147 down on the very first attempt. Pretty darn impressive! Later this morning I'm going to see if it'll work here at our home in Reno (I don't think it will). Now I'm going to watch your video. As always, thank you very much!
@@IreneIronTravels Awesome, many thanks for the reply! Just tested mine here at home. I couldn't update my Starlink service address to our home address because it says its at capacity here, which is consistent with what the Starlink web site's map showed when I placed my order. My roaming flag is set to true, and I'm getting comparable upload/download speeds with the dish set up in our driveway even though the service address is still set to Fallon, NV. Pleasantly surprised!
Very very interesting!! I heard about this on the news in Canada and I think few campers are getting excited about this. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and I look forward about how it’s working for you Aaron. As always BS & BK
Someone mentioned it but don’t forget about power consumption. I have heard the 2nd gen are a little better but still consume 100 watts or around that 24/7 whether you use it or not. That’s something to consider as the power requirements are a lot higher than for a mobile hotspot or travel router.
So amazing to see this in action, thank you. I've been following this product for a long time and I knew it would continuously improve for RV dwellers. It won't be much longer before full coverage is achieved which is their goal. WOO WOO!
Interesting. As I was watching I was wondering how Starlink would work for me. One reason I have not gone big into solar is that 90% of my campgrounds are tree covered. I installed solar mostly to charge at trail head parking lots which tend to be open. I could see driving to a parking lot to work during the day and then return to my wooded campsite. Interesting possibilities. Safe travels
With good enough panels, you can still charge in shade/rain/clouds, whatever. I only have 2 - 400 watt residential panels. In full sun they produce 900-1000 watts (the difference between residential and travel panels is efficiency...along with price. Mine were only $200 each) But the second the sun rises, until it sets, regradless of weather or shade I still produce at least 300watts at 60v. Even if on north side of a tall building, in full shade, all day. I plan on doubling my panels so I can get 600watts on the worst days/locations. Thankfully I don't need much. On good days my 48v 100ah battery charges in about 4 hours. In shade/rain it takes 8 hours...if I run nothing during the day. Doubling the panels will give me around 300watts of constant power I pull while still charhing my battery. In short, find a way to put residential panels...you will get much higher quality for a fraction of the price, and they will still harvest solar energy, even in shade.
We have purchased and received our Starlink internet for our RV as well. We are excited to install on our coach, we also bought the adjustable roof adapter and the ethernet adapter to install our networked devices. We probably also will invest in the very long cord so that we can easily move the square dish from roof to ground if needed. There are some really good resources about roaming and mobile roaming as well (Tucks Truck and Mike on Space).
We’ve had ours for two months and it really is a game changer. Except for Menifee, CA we have had OK or better service but it still seems a bit odd to want camp sites out in the open. The OR coast is a challenge right now because of all of the trees, but Starlink still beats cellular coverage. Now to find a way to get the SL cable inside the Airstream. 🤔
Great video Aaron! It's fun watching techie guys like you (who have a clue about what they are doing) get excited with the possibilities technology like this can bring to your lifestyle. I'm certain you will figure out how this new technology will work best for you. Take care and safe travels! John
I'm waiting for everything to start my RV journey, ordered my Navion last September for delivery in February, then May, now July 🤞I ordered StarLiink as well, but no need to get it early until I get my RV. I did install a Demo Duo braking system on my Jeep this weekend. Beyond stressful, but RUclips got me through the rough spots. Keep making great videos so I can live through your adventures. I hope you're able to start doing some roadwork!
I am full-time RVer myself and have been considering getting Starlink myself but have heard that the starlink system wasn't working everywhere yet. I'm glad to see your video and might be looking into the starlink system again.
Much appreciated. Seems like a work in progress to me still. I think the upside will be game-changing once it gets fully implemented and all the kinks get ironed out.
Thank you for sharing your insights. We'll start sending your channel to our clients who recently bought land from us. They will surely learn a lot from you guys especially about living in an RV 😊
Hi Chris and Aaron! This is really exciting... I am really happy for you two that this should open up a ton more locations that you can go, while still doing your business effectively. Honestly, I am really surprised that satellite phones never really took off, mainly due to the cost associated with a satellite network. Safe travels and looking forward to you continuing your starlink reviews!
So, with Starlink also remember not all satellites are in the sky just yet. So there may be some disconnects randomly as you hit "blank" spots. Those may also come up as obstructions as well. I have been considering Starlink just for home. We only stream and I work from home as well. So no TV and I am really tired of cable companies. Hell if I could get fiber out here that would be great
In rural Vermont we get 2mb down DSL. I can watch RUclips videos at 480p if no one else is on the network. Starlink will be a godsend once it's available in our area.
Thank you for sharing your first experience with Starlink. The speed test was unreal!!! We are on the waitlist, and have been for about 11 months. What location to put in to get one so fast?
Good video! I am new to your channel and to Star-Link. I hope their improvements on their system come sooner rather than later, as my expectations are high, I need reliable service wherever I am using this service at. Hey, you guys might consider creating a playlist for your Star-Link related videos 👍😉
The moisture in the clouds scatters the signal, so the thicker the cloud, the worse connection you'll have. That is a low gain antenna, so the thicker cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will cause issues. Just a reality of satellite communications you'll have to get used to. At that same location on a clear day, you would have had no issues because the trees weren't in the direct line of sight to the satellite.
24hrs to upload a 30 min video!?! Wow! That's like dialup modem speeds. 🤓 I suspect that you'll get much better stability in your connection if you mount the dish 📡 on a reasonably tall pole, attached to the RV. Regardless, you're correct about being in a forested area. Satellite connectivity requires line of sight; and anything that gets in the way (including trees, branches and leaves) will disrupt that. $99 USD 🤔 seems a bit steep. Maybe it will come down considerably, when more people buy into it. Hopefully 😊
@@seanwan30 Yeah! You're right. Great video with a no bullshit review. But I guess I’m trying to figure out what’s the point of blazing speed if you can only get it when not around trees. I mean, I like being in a forest (or treed areas at least) for the peacefulness and shade.
Yeah I hear ya…. It’s definitely not a complete internet solution and we will still keep our Verizon. And for some it just won’t work at all for their situations. You can’t use Starlink in motion (yet) and like you said Forrest camping could be a problem. But for us it’s a supplement that will allow internet to many places we just don’t travel to. And faster speeds at most places we already go. ( to be determined) We do seek open areas for our rooftop solar as well…. It will be fun to continue the tests for sure! 😊
Thank you! I have heard of the Starlink but didn’t know anything about it. We are retired and still have home base. Intriguing to see if could take on the road when we rv and use at home.
You need 110 degrees of clear sky for solid connection. You've got a lot of trees there. They will be blocking the view of the satellites as they move around.
I am a huge fan of Elon and Tesla+Space X+Starlink. In the future I see a Tesla powered RV that has the ability to use Starlink anywhere on the planet. Ps. Hello Louie !!
Definitely some cool stuff coming from them! It's going to be amazing to have internet and wifi calling from the middle of nowhere now. Some many places we just never went too....... 🐶🐾
A bit off subject, but it is probably time to head back to Minneapolis for the spring. We will be travelling Dillon, CO to Milwaukee and back the first three weeks of May, focusing on the wonderful state parks in Iowa on Highway 20 and the wonderful city parks in Nebraska on Highway 20. Don't forget to visit all of these places if you head to Colorado this summer. Still enjoying all your videos. Pam and Randall.
Fun trip you guys have planned! We won't be back to MN until July this year. We have the Escapees Escapades event in Tennessee in June and then we will start heading back up!
@@IreneIronTravels If you do head through Ohio, the Cuyahoga Valley National Park was an unexpected pleasure of moss-covered sandstone ledges with hikes along the creekbeds!
Nice video and explanation of their setup. Think we will wait for awhile after looking at their pricing for the equipment and monthly billing cost. We are paying way below that in our sticks and bricks. On the road hot spot wil have to do.Have fun with it!
Thanks! Yes, it definitely doesn’t make sense for a lot of situations. ( like having faster cheaper service available) Will be fun to see where the future brings us! 😊
The longer you wait the more expensive it will be. At $110.00 a month it works out to $3.37 a day and we KNOW for us it is worth every dime! For us "hot spots" are too spotty and too expensive for the service we were paying for!
Very informative and interesting, thank you Aaron! I do have to tell you though - you lost my attention for a bit after showing Louie. All I could think about is “did he get to go piddle?” “Is he out of the kennel?” Fair warning, that little baby is a scene stealer! 🤣
🤪😜 that’s funny! I had to show him! He only napped for about half my recording then I had to pause to take him out and play! Thankfully Chris came back shortly and was able to watch him. He’s a handful🐶🐾
Keep in mind that obstructions will continuously become less of an issue as more satellites come online and coverage thickens up. On average it takes 4 months from launch to activation for new satellites. Also the current number of live sats as of 4/21/22 is 1699, there are over 2300 in orbit and the goal is over 20,000. When I first got my dish, I was seeing 2-5 second drops every minute on average. 3 months later I am now down to 3-5 seconds ever hour. This is without moving my dish.
Hey, Aaron - congrats! I paid my deposit, waiting for hardware. Question about video - how did you embed your phone display?? Cast to TV, then do screen capture? A weird OBS Studio plugin?? VERY COOL. And thanks!
Thanks, you're gonna love Starlink! I just did a simple screen record on the iPhone. It then saves it as a vertical video and I airdropped it to my Mac and overlayed it on my main footage. We just switched to the Apple family a few about 6 months ago and really love how simple everything works!
@@IreneIronTravels Oh yeah - DUH. I can do the same thing on 'Droid. Apple is a completely different beast - YIKES. But good for you. And - thanks for all your work on here. It's a pain sometimes, I know. Starlink will help! Thanks again.
Consider buying a Pepwave router. Connect it to the starlink (with ethernet adapter, or Wi-Fi as Wan mode) and put in the SIM card from your Verizon jetpack. If you have one of those plans where you have to use a jetpack, starlink on ethernet and Verizon on Wi-Fi as Wan. Either way, it'll automatically switch as internet comes and goes. Great review, and I have my fingers crossed for the future. I wish they used standard cables (like RJ45) between the dish and router rather than their proprietary one, but oh well.
@@IreneIronTravels awesome! An unlimited Verizon hot-spot sim is worth it's weight in gold. I pay $100 / month for 150gb. You can still get unlimited hotspots but they're paired to the jetpack and I don't care that much. Personally, I use a dual radio Pepwave router with Verizon and T-Mobile SIMs, then "Wi-Fi as WAN". I have it so I'm connected to my house Wi-Fi while at home, but when I leave it automatically switches over to LTE. It's wonderful having the internet "just work". If you pursue a setup like that, I strongly recommend the Mobile Internet Resource Center (on RUclips + their own website). They do a great job staying up-to-date with the current technology.
I just went to sign up. I typed in my address and it says they are not taking any more subscribers in my area because it has reached capacity. What a bummer. It says until 2023. We can’t wait that long unfortunately
Hey Aaron, we use a 25 foot aluminum telescopic pole, that we bought on Amazon, Along with a quick connect bracket you can do from the ground! I don’t know how to send a picture on this format.
you live in a faraday cage, ypu eill likrly nrrf mount lte services ants outside to improve your data output I would also suggest a lte router retcher than a dongle meanr for 1-2 devices .. if start link, comes in a POE mode I would suggest getting that modelof hardware.. you will be needing to get it past the tree line
I am really interested in this. Just recently bought an rv and need good internet access. Is there a cap on the internet? I’m tired of paying so much money to Verizon and always run out of gigabytes
Great assessment of Starlink. I received mine about a week ago and have the dish set up near one cluster of trees, which show up as a small obstruction. I have not had any noticeable interruption of service from this (though the app shows drops in service fairly often). It is good to see that yours worked fairly well, considering you had so many trees blocking the view.
This is so cool! What has Chris been using for client coaching calls? I'm assuming they are Zoom or something similar? I'm heading out full time in the fall and won't have Starlink, at least in the short term, and I am on Zoom at least once/day. Thanks!
We thought she would do Zoom/Skype at first but soon found how spotty internet connection can be when you travel every few days or week. It can be very stressful to make sure to have a good enough connection for video calls so we went to voice calls right away. So we've used our Verizon hotspot for wi-fi calling or our Tmobile phones all across the country. We do have a few video calls each month so we just make sure to have a good connection at those times. Starlink will help in allowing us to have faster internet and also allow us to go to places with no cell service at all!
It’s is from Adarac. They call it the low profile m series I think and we got it from Amazon or one of the online truck accessories stores. Under 300 I think. You can see it more in this video. Full Time RVing in a CVT Shasta Roof Top Tent on a Ford F350 Tremor ruclips.net/video/JSgHgUs2K6Y/видео.html Thanks 😊
I have seen where the starlink draws 100 watts continuous. When you are boonedocking how many hours do you leave it running. How will you provide that much power when off grid
We will leave it run 24/7 unless we are running low on power for some reason and then we would just turn it off at night. We have a pretty big electrical system at 1200 watts of solar and 810 amps of lithium batteries. ruclips.net/video/10zhTGlKQGY/видео.html
Great info! curious if when you bought this if Starlink prompted you with "Service for this order is only guaranteed at this location" My address works for availability but am warned. were you too warned, yet proceeded anyway? we live in our RV and literally want this for the roaming reasons. If you could please answer this one question for us, THANK YOU!!
How does the service plan work? For instance, I work from home and stay home during the winter months. In the spring/summer/fall I like to go on weekend retreats. I was considering getting a camper and giving Starlink a shot for an extended weekend, but I only need service maybe 6 or so months out of the year. Is that possible with Starlink? Or do you have to continually pay for service?
There is no service contract so you could potentially sign up for service and then cancel and re sign up as needed. But they don’t have a pause feature as of now.
Nice 👍 enjoy! The camera is a Sony A7C with a Sigma art lens 24-70 2.8. Really like it and I think all the Sony full frame cameras have great auto focus!
24hrs to upload a video via cellular? My vids usually upload in just a few minutes. Recently did an hour long vid and it took 22 minutes to upload. Just doing a hotspot through my pixel phone through visible. I also have a verizon hot spot and see the same upload speeds. Oh, when I uploaded the big vid, I was in the desert outside of Quartzsite AZ, famously slow cellular there, but only during daylight hours. I'll do my uploads when I get up in the morning around 4-5 AM before all the other RVers wake up and tank the cellular net.
Yeah..its not been fun, but I've just gotten used to the slow upload speeds over the years. I usually start the upload in the afternoon and let it run overnight. Depending on speeds ( 1-5 mbps...usually closer to 1) it will either finish overnight...or sometimes its still going into the next day. One video took 2.5 days on JABA WiFi at a Thousand Trails Park in Cottonwood AZ! My file sizes are around 30Gb's or more.....
Hi Aaron. Thanks for the info. I plugged in our home address and it says "at capacity... 2023 or later". Actually tried several N. Florida addresses with same results. I am interested in how you managed to find one working? I assume that even if I set a home address, working at my normal location wouldn't work well or at all. So, how did you get an address to work? Thanks. Earl.
Hey Earl! There is no easy way.. but to try random address in rural areas that may have an open cell. You can check the map in the upper left of their website to see if that might help...
Yes you can! We actually do a lot of Wi-Fi calling over our Verizon hot spot as our t mobile phones don’t have as good coverage nationwide. So now we have another option for that with Starlink.😊
another note is the direct communication I had with Starlink support: Mobile Starlink Closed 3/7/22 I am very interested in Mobile Starlink - using my Starlink on my RV. Can I get on a Beta test list or at least a notification list so when it becomes available, I can use it? In the mean time, I will continue checking this site for a status change. Thank you. Victoria 3/7/22 Hello Gary, Thank you so much for reaching out! At this time we do not have any testing options available for roaming or mobile use of Starlink, though it remains something we hope to offer in the future. We'll be sure to notate your interest on your account. Should we be able to assist further, please reach out in a new support ticket!
What you didn’t mention is the $600 upfront cost for equipment. I’m sure it wasn’t on purpose. You had to put your glasses on to see the cost when u had the starlink site up. Give us an update
Aaron I’ve been on the wait list for a year and a half (OK). After watching the video I plugged in my parent’s address and I can order the system up in New England. However it says service restricted to this address. Did you get the same message on your order? Wondering if I can employ it the same way you did.
@@IreneIronTravels Wow! Thanks so much! I am a musician who is planning on Vanning it this summer and Thought this would definitely be handy When I want to Stream updates or even livestream potentially?
In this video I show Starlink internet setup, speed test, and can you use Starlink for RV use.

Very very interesting!! I heard about this on the news in Canada and I think few campers are getting excited about this. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and I look forward about how it’s working for you Aaron. As always BS & BK
Thanks Larry! BS & BK!
Needs to come with an RV package so the dish can be mounted to the roof and folds up/down electronically
Yes! Lots of possibilities!😊
With good enough panels, you can still charge in shade/rain/clouds, whatever.
I only have 2 - 400 watt residential panels. In full sun they produce 900-1000 watts (the difference between residential and travel panels is efficiency...along with price. Mine were only $200 each)
But the second the sun rises, until it sets, regradless of weather or shade I still produce at least 300watts at 60v.
This system is only going to get better over the next few years, pretty awesome.
We are full-time RVers currently stationary and we've had Starlink for 3 months in Northern California and it's been awesome
Good to know thank you!
@@IreneIronTravels youre welcome! Enjoy!
That’s awesome to hear Chuck! I have a hole saw you can borrow🤣🤣🤣
Would you film and post your installation? Airstream lover here! 🙋🏻♀️. Learning how to do all this myself.
Great video Aaron! It's fun watching techie guys like you (who have a clue about what they are doing) get excited with the possibilities technology like this can bring to your lifestyle. I'm certain you will figure out how this new technology will work best for you. Take care and safe travels! John
Thanks John! Very excited!
Congratulations on your new setup! Looks great!
Thanks!
Awesome job. Starlink definitely finds their target market who don’t care if it works and cage their puppies.
I am full-time RVer myself and have been considering getting Starlink myself but have heard that the starlink system wasn't working everywhere yet. I'm glad to see your video and might be looking into the starlink system again.
Nice job on explaining the set up. We have been anticipating good things about starlink, and will need it when we hit the road.
Glad it was helpful! It is pretty amazing!
Much appreciated. Seems like a work in progress to me still. I think the upside will be game-changing once it gets fully implemented and all the kinks get ironed out.
Awesome! This will only get better as more satellites are launched which they are doing all the time.
Thank you for sharing your insights. We'll start sending your channel to our clients who recently bought land from us. They will surely learn a lot from you guys especially about living in an RV 😊
Excited to see how it works. Very informative.
Thanks! 😊
Thanks Alan! Yes, so many new places to park our ORV and live and work! Feels really good! Can’t wait to see the future of it!
thanks for the review, we are RVers but based in the smoky mountains so I'm hoping this has great potential for us
Great video! Thanks for putting it together.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
We have been using ours for about a year…. TOTALLY AMAZING!!!
Awesome to hear!
Do you have a cap? Or is it unlimited?
It is unlimited.
@@IreneIronTravels thank you for the information. 🙌🏽
I think about a year ago I heard something about this. This is a game changer. Can't wait until this is up and going!
Thanks for this I just got a American RV in the UK to live in and I am also wanting Starlink RV
So , you weren't very clear on, " Is it a Roamer or not" Is there extra charge for roaming? Thanx for the info, safe travels
Thank you for sharing your first experience with Starlink. The speed test was unreal!!! We are on the waitlist, and have been for about 11 months. What location to put in to get one so fast?
Alaska
We're looking to use Starlink the same way right now, so timely video! Thank you...
Glad it was helpful!
Good video! I am new to your channel and to Star-Link. I hope their improvements on their system come sooner rather than later, as my expectations are high, I need reliable service wherever I am using this service at. Hey, you guys might consider creating a playlist for your Star-Link related videos 👍😉
Ok, got my answers on the next video, thanx again, Cya down the road
The moisture in the clouds scatters the signal, so the thicker the cloud, the worse connection you'll have. That is a low gain antenna, so the thicker cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will cause issues. Just a reality of satellite communications you'll have to get used to. At that same location on a clear day, you would have had no issues because the trees weren't in the direct line of sight to the satellite.
24hrs to upload a 30 min video!?! Wow! That's like dialup modem speeds. 🤓
I suspect that you'll get much better stability in your connection if you mount the dish 📡 on a reasonably tall pole, attached to the RV.
Hopefully 😊

Yeah! You're right. I'm a _"dinosaur"_ with over 3 decades of experience working as a tech professional... had my own company... decided to go back into the workforce for family reasons... and prior to entering IT as a professional, I graduated in Computer Programming and Systems Analysis with MIT... and much earlier, I built my own computer before either you or the internet was born. Down in front, kid. When we want your opinion, we'll call for pizza delivery.

Don't bother answering, because I can't waste my time with bigoted, ignorant morons such as yourself. I won't even see your replies, let alone answer them. Just grow up and learn to be a better person.
Yes! I think very soon they will officially announce the roaming feature and it will be perfect for home and travel.
Pps. I just ordered it !
🥳
A bit off subject, but it is probably time to head back to Minneapolis for the spring. We will be travelling Dillon, CO to Milwaukee and back the first three weeks of May, focusing on the wonderful state parks in Iowa on Highway 20 and the wonderful city parks in Nebraska on Highway 20. Don't forget to visit all of these places if you head to Colorado this summer. Still enjoying all your videos. Pam and Randall.
Fun trip you guys have planned! We won't be back to MN until July this year. We have the Escapees Escapades event in Tennessee in June and then we will start heading back up!

ive had for month - roaming is turned and works Great
Awesome!
Great vid, thanks. My Starlink arrives on Tuesday!!
Thanks! Hope you enjoy it!
Mount it to your roof. Use it while driving. It works at 80mph.
Well your husband or boyfriend is one lucky guy . You can put just about anything together
Great video. Our home base is Tucson AZ and I got the same message the availability is late 2022 or 2023.
Such a timely video. We are eyeing this up for Canada (northern AB) as it expands. We are hoping to work from the rv too!
Nice! It’s a pretty great option to have!

Good info! Thank you for sharing that 😊
Hey, Aaron - congrats!
Thanks Paul! We do have a Verizon sim and that pepwave sounds like a pretty great solution. It will be fun to see the future of this technology!
Aaron totally geeking out!! Love it!
I did! 🤣🤓
Sounds Great ! Windy days? tent peg the stand or sandbag it.
I think its fine on the ground....but it wouldn't hurt to use some small stakes or sandbags!
Thank you so much for all the info... this has really helped me feel a bit more confident setting this up :)
You are so welcome!😊
I just went to sign up.
I typed in my address and it says they are not taking any more subscribers in my area because it has reached capacity.
What a bummer.
It says until 2023. We can’t wait that long unfortunately
Hey Aaron, we use a 25 foot aluminum telescopic pole, that we bought on Amazon, Along with a quick connect bracket you can do from the ground! I don’t know how to send a picture on this format.
That's a great idea for an option! Thanks!
Mark Guido from “Grand Adventure” had a good video on the install and parts

if start link, comes in a POE mode I would suggest getting that modelof hardware..
you will be needing to get it past the tree line
I am really interested in this. Just recently bought an rv and need good internet access. Is there a cap on the internet? I’m tired of paying so much money to Verizon and always run out of gigabytes
Great assessment of Starlink. I received mine about a week ago and have the dish set up near one cluster of trees, which show up as a small obstruction. I have not had any noticeable interruption of service from this (though the app shows drops in service fairly often). It is good to see that yours worked fairly well, considering you had so many trees blocking the view.
Good to hear yours is working well. We moved to a new spot with zero trees and have no interruptions at all. It seems the trees can be a problem!
4 months here and love my starlink! Sucks the monthly price went up tho!
If you got one of these in the RV Park you're the most popular kid in school ;)
@@IreneIronTravels This is really good to know. Thank you!
trees yes are an issue, but you also had lots of clouds....how much did that effect your constant connections??
I don't think clouds are an obstruction for Starlink.... I've heard it even performs pretty well in wind and rain.....but we'll see! Thanks Sandra!
I’m thinking of using one for vanlife…could be interesting? Still doing research.
Space could be an issue while traveling in a van for sure. We did 2.5 years full time in a sprinter and this would have taken up a lot if real estate!
it's a game changer for us.
Nice!
Just watched your video and noticed the rack on the back of your truck. Where did you get it? Brand? Cost?

It’s is from Adarac. They call it the low profile m series I think and we got it from Amazon or one of the online truck accessories stores. Under 300 I think. You can see it more in this video. Full Time RVing in a CVT Shasta Roof Top Tent on a Ford F350 Tremor

That is correct! It will state that.
You can probably put it in the bed of your truck if you have a power plug in the bed
Great video, ordering mine now. BTW, what camera are you using that does the nice auto focus?
Nice 👍 enjoy! The camera is a Sony A7C with a Sigma art lens 24-70 2.8. Really like it and I think all the Sony full frame cameras have great auto focus!
Hello when searching for a service address did you get the message "Service for this order is only guaranteed at this location".
Yes!
@@IreneIronTravels 30Gig? Holy crap!
I render to webm usually, sometimes MP4. My hour long vid was around 2.6 Gig in size.

Thanks
Just like a kid on Christmas morning :-)

You can check the map in the upper left of their website to see if that might help...
if you do not hve a cell signal but have a starlink signal will you be able to do wifi calling on internet with your phone?
Yes you can! We actually do a lot of Wi-Fi calling over our Verizon hot spot as our t mobile phones don’t have as good coverage nationwide. So now we have another option for that with Starlink.😊
