    I shore for many years, those sheep won’t dry overnight

    Don’t the sheep get cold when you shear them in the colder weather even though it’s spring time?

    Very interesting that you shear early spring before lambing. We always tagged our herds in the fall and sheared May or June. How many head do you run and where is your lambing operation in Utah? I've really enjoyed your videos as it brings back my childhood memories. Never fails that it snows during lambing season.

      That’s the way it works for us! Just between areas and being close to home! We’re in central Utah! Thank you for watching and commenting!

    If like to see more of your head ache track/ stock rack combo on the back of your pickup. I'm guessing that's what that is.

      I’ll have to get a video made next time we fold it out! Yes we fold it out and put horses in the back of it! It works pretty good! We built it a couple years ago!

    Great video. When you sort them by time until lambing - how can you tell how soon they'll lamb?

    • @themorganmickelchannel
      @themorganmickelchannel  Год назад +3

      We feed their bag! Depending on how hard or soft it is we can usually tell if they are ready to lamb. Firm bag full of milk usually means they are getting close where as a softer bag usually means they are a few days off. Nothing there or really really soft bag means they will take a lot longer if they lamb at all! Keep in mind it’s not 100% right either 😂😂 there is always some that don’t go the way you think but when we are short on shed space it gains us a few days by keeping the later ones out. We get this far all we need is a couple days gap then the sheds aren’t quite so full all at the same time!

      @@themorganmickelchannel do you get more money for them/more desirable by crossing them?

    • @themorganmickelchannel
      @themorganmickelchannel  Год назад +2

      We get the crossbred vigor! The smutface lambs will get up faster usually when they are born. More aggressive wanting to suck and then usually not always buy usually they will be bigger by the time we ship them! So bigger lambs when selling time comes always is better! That’s what works best for us! We do raise lots of white lambs and we keep our replacements from them but anything smutface we sell!
