People, relax, I had both knees replaced 6 months apart three years ago and struggled to get range of motion back and went through much pain pushing myself through exercises without any significant progress . I gave up in the end having got totally disillusioned. Here I am three years later having done NO exercises but just doing day to day stuff with full range of motion 0-130 with NO DISCOMFORT AT ALL. Just let your body heal peeps .

I have Diabetes..After 4 weeks I had my first visit with my Orthopedic Surgeon..After his assessment, he told me he was very disappointed with my range of motion and cautioned me that my knee would heal with a permanent bend if I do not do all of my exercises..He requested that I see him in the next 2 weeks..During that period...I did my flexion exercises and worked through the pain..and I mean I hit the tip of my pain threshold every day..Next visit he was satisfied ( what a relief)..I entered the Outpatient Therapy at 110 degrees by the end of my therapy..I was at 132 degrees..Continuing my therapy at the gym..my range of motion settled at 127 degrees because of the muscle buildup around my Prothesis.
In Summary...my doctor scared the living daylight out of me for my first visit...but it was all for a good cause and result at the end.

You are so right. I used your videos post surgery to bring a severely damaged joint up to 120 flex in 6 months. It took another 6+ months and I'm at 130+ flex now. Never Give Up. I work on my knee every day, even if its only a little bit. My top advice is... 1 - Prioritize sleep (when it comes) over everything including knee position at night. You can work on that when you are awake. 2 - Diet, intermittant fasting, healthy fats and protein, no seed oils, helped me lose all the weight and stop joint inflammation. 3 - Watch all of Anthony's videos, you'll find so many helpful gems. I'm eternally grateful.

The therapist worked on my knee a bit with massaging the knee cap, and it increased to 112. Another time it was 114. These days I am flighting inflammation, but still working on knee bending. I have two go back to intermittent fasting, it was great for me.

    Im in phase 3 roughly 15wks post-op.
Your explanation makes a lot sense. I was in huge pain in phase 1, so very little ROM. then hit 105 flex in phase 2. Now im between 115 - 120 flex. As the swelling is under control its much easier to exercise & stretch. Also gotta learn the limits & not overdo it.

Tony your informational videos are very much appreciated. I am 59 and 19 days post op. My biggest concern prior to surgery was unmanageable pain and severe constipation. I have been pleasantly surprised that the pain has been tolerable and manageable with a combination of Oxycodone, Zanaflex and Tylenol. I use the Zanaflex about once per day when the and Oxycodone every 4 hours for the first 10 days and now every 6-8 hours. The best solution for constipation has been taking stool softeners daily and a laxative every 8 hours. I was at 86 degrees flexion and 0 degrees extension prior to staple removal. I am now at 96 and 0 and can make a full circle with my operative knee on the stationary bike. It’s a slow process and not always linear. I have found I have good days and bad days, but as time progresses more good days. Positive mental attitude with long term goals is the key to this surgery and recovery. Thanks Again

I’m now 5 months post TKR surgery. I’ve been doing boot camp type workouts for the last two months and my range of motion is about 90 percent. I also use a stretching straps with loops to help me increase my range of motion when I stretch. I’m no longer in pain and when I get a little sore, I apply ice to the knee for a few minutes. I’m glad and happy with the results from my surgery and wish the same for all of you. It gets better, just be patient and listen to your body.

Not a Knee replacement but a Quad tendon surgery - and I have had 4 surgeries and another clean out artho for a staph infection. The first 3 surgeries failed and my last one in November has partially torn and as I mentioned I went through a staph infections, clean out, and anti-biotic infusions to save my leg. They can do no more surgery on the tendon, and my PT was delayed for the 8 weeks of infusions so I am just getting movement - have finally gotten to 100 degrees but an still making progress and I am 70 as well. Am hoping for at least 5 more degrees in the next 6 weeks and I know I will never get full range of motion but it has obviously taken longer than you say.
