I know this is about growth between Austin and San Antonio but I think eventually the area between Waco, Temple and Georgetown will grow together and form a megalopolis stretching from Waco to San Antonio.

You are really talking about the Texas Triangle which will stretch from San Antonio-Austin to DFW (along I-35) and from DFW to Houston (along I-45), then Houston back to San Antonio (via I-10). It is predicted to have close to 40 million by 2040 (only 16 years from now).

And eventually from Waco to DFW.

Give it 100 or so years DFW down to San Antonio could become one of the largest megalopolis in human history

I predict Allegiant and Frontier will shift flights from AUS to HYI (San Marcos Regional) after the South Terminal at AUS is demolished, and new trackage will be built along the UP line to accommodate commuter service together with freight rights for CPKC and BNSF.

You know a light rail system between Austin and San Antonio could be a legit economic booster, if managed correctly, but I don't see it happening anytime soon
