  • After watching the sunrise on Beartooth Butte, I hike the Beartooth Creek trail on a frozen September morning and find lots of grizzly tracks on the trail and discover some beautiful lakes above 10,000 ft in elevation.
The temperature at the beginning of the hike: 22 degrees (-5 Celsius)
    Miles hiked: 8
    Grizzlies in this video: 4
    Blisters: 1
Beartooth Lake is located on the Wyoming side of the Beartooth Mountains in what is commonly referred to as the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. As such this area has a high population of grizzly bears and even wolves and wolverines can be spotted here. It is truly one of the most wild places in the continental United States.

what a beautiful, but nerve wracking adventure. Ravens and Eagles are scavengers so I kept thinking maybe they were hanging around there because the carcass was nearby

      @RyanThayne  Год назад +1

Yep, I was thinking the same thing. The sign was a week old and I was hoping the only meat left on the carcass was being picked clean by the birds and the bears had moved off, but clearly that wasn't the case as I saw the grizzlies near the trail the next two days in a row. 😬

I really liked the gorgeous sunrise and your whole hike. But I'm glad you didn't see the grizzlies until a day later from way far away.

Was up there September 16th. Hiked to beauty lake and ran into a griz who followed us back to our car. Might be his tracks you saw. I’ve ran into many griz hiking over the years but have never had one follow us while clicking it’s jaws.

That's crazy! Yeah probably the same grizz cuz that's just a few days from when I filmed this. I was planning on hiking over to beauty lake but after seeing the tracks I didn't dare go through the forest. Glad I didn't now. I went back up in October and saw a grizz run all the way across the butte in snow and on to the trail. That video should be dropping tomorrow or Friday.

Amazon and AliExpress called. They hate your Selfie Stick🤣🤣🤣
    GoPro 10?
    How is it treating you.
Don't get eaten by bear. We won't see the updates of your Selfie Stick 😁
    Thanks for sharing

I would have thought the bear cache sign would have been made much larger with a date on it and how long to stay away from the cache, kinda scary 🥶

You sure capture beautiful scenes! Loved the mist on the lake and the frost on the grass - so beautiful!!! The Olive Oyl boots was very funny. And I really liked your selfie stick - it shows a wider view of all the pretty places you go to. 🎠

Those first shots around the lake looked so awesome! Looked like a cool movie set or something. I felt like I was on the edge of my seat the whole time... But had to keep reminding myself that everything was going to be ok because I'm actually watching the video. 😜 Where does this rank on the most daft things you've done??
Oh, and I loved your selfie stick!! 👍👍

This was beautiful yet was concerned for you. When I heard the ravens that was especially unnerving... wondered if they were near a carcass. Glad you made it out unscathed! the bears on the trail close to the trail head or up a ways? Curious if you were hiking when you saw them. Please stay safe! Enjoy your videos! Thank you for posting.

Thanks for the concern and comment Lori. When I saw the grizzly it was from the trailhead (the next day) but it was about a mile up the trail. (About where I heard the ravens.) Thanks for watching!

I watched this whole video with a puckered butth*le - those bear prints were MASSIVE! 😳 But, man, that last lake was gorgeous!! I too always pretend I’m in Middle Earth whenever I hike 😂 I also like to pretend I’m a hobbit so I can have second breakfast.

Sucks when you go on a hike with someone who doesn't know about second breakfast. 😅 This was probably the scariest hike I've ever done. My butth*le was puckered the entire time as well lol
