Which of these iconic 1960s restaurants do you wish were still open today, and why?

NONE ! Good riddance to them all. In my mid-eighties, I am proud to say that, while I never had a lavish income, I never ate in any of these culinary travesties. As a child, my mother cooked wholesome and delicious meals; and I have been doing the same throughout my adult years !!

What about pioneer chicken ? The closest thing to their fried chicken is churches

I wish there was a fried chicken chain that focused on fried chicken rather than places like Chick-fil-A Filet or Popeyes. KFC was once the best chicken around but will go bust. It's chicken is greasy as hell and over-priced. Every KFC I know of rarely has any business any longer. Corporate greed is what has destroyed a lot of chains like KFC.

There used to be a Red Barn close to my house back in '7.The building is still there but it is a Chinese eatery now. Also there used to be a chicken fast food restaurant called Chick Delite.Their slogan was " Don't cook tonite call Chicken Delite!.We used to like this better than KFC.There were several here in the Bay Area in the '60s and early 70s

I worked st Ginos in the mid to late 70s in Harrisburg pa. When they had burgers and KFC chicken and it was great , and if you got a bucket or a barrel the lid wouldnt even fit on the container . KFC sucks now , i remember when we first got a salad bar .

In the 1970’s as a kid growing up in Evansville, Indiana payday Friday was a special family night out. First with cash in hand to do the weekly grocery shopping at Great Scot a local chain and then to Sandy’s for a Big Sandy (a better version of the Big Mac burger), fries and a Coke. Sadly both of these Scottish themed chains are gone now. But I still have my fond memories.

With the exception of a Chi Chi's, Kenny Roger's & a Wetsons, which all went out of business, over 15 yrs. ago,
I don't believe Long Island, NY, (where I live) has ever had any of these other chain restaurants! Even with 3 three
million people on L.I., fast food chains won't come here, due to N.Y's outrageous income, sales taxes, utility bills
& building restrictions! Now, we have to add "runaway inflation", making their meal costs "skyrocket" in price!
