They give more time if the shot that is being quetioned is "finishing shot" in the point, meaning that the opponent wasn't able to return the shot ( ace or a winner). In this case point is over anyway so few seconds doesn't make any difference. But in a situation where point hasn't been stopped by an out call and player had a opportunity to keep the point going you can't wait to see if your own shot was in or not and then challenge. Umpire was 100% correct in this situation.

Collins and Putinseva are playing a different game: who can be the most reviled player on the WTA. They are both neck and neck. Although Strycova didn't make it into this compilation, she also seems to be playing the same game as Collins and Putinseva.

I think I may agree with Collins in her call. It seems the umpire is accusing her of waiting to see how her return shot faired before saying anything yet other umpires say quite often that regardless, you should make a play on the ball just in case. I think the return on serve was long as Collins says.

Sometimes umpires give the benefit on the doubt on that, but they often do not. AND THE BALL WAS HALF ON THE LINE LIKE ??? HOW WAS IT A FOOT OUT?? It sucks that she beat Ash.
First, Golubic had an obnoxious reaction. Then she walked away even though Kalinskaya was getting ready to serve. The call was definitely strict (maybe a little too strict), but I approve because she was ridiculous. Golubic may have called the ball at a decent time for the challenge though. It was easy to tell her shot wasn't going to work, but the time frame was still pretty small. Kalinskaya waited for the result of the challenge and then played dumb.

I think I may agree with Collins in her call. It seems the umpire is accusing her of waiting to see how her return shot faired before saying anything yet other umpires say quite often that regardless, you should make a play on the ball just in case. I think the return on serve was long as Collins says.
