when Zach brought up what he wanted the movie to get into- a mythological agency with all these different characters, my brain, for the fifth time this podcast (all that Chris Pine talk) went to Rise of the Guardians! What a great movie.
I think zack forgot 10:15 one of Chris's early 2000s roles in Fantastic 4. That was my intro to Chris Evens and he brought back that persona in this movie. I'm glad they brought it up.
Male reindeer also have antlers!!! BUT, and here's where it gets fun, male reindeer shed their antlers after mating season, which happens in the fall. Also, non-pregnant female reindeer will shed their antlers in the winter, so it could be that Santa's reindeer are non-pregnant females that just haven't shed yet. HOWEVER, pregnant reindeer don't shed their antlers until spring, meaning that, in all likelihood, Santa's sleigh is getting flown around the world by pregnant reindeer!!! Whether that is badass or problematic I will leave up to you 😂
What do the Italians think of this movie? The witch Befana is their equivalent of Santa Claus, and that the main villain of this movie is a witch might disturb some of them.
I’m currently obsessed without the potential this film has to actually be a stellar tv show with attention to preserving folkloric creatures and magic while balancing safety for people. Like, longer character arcs and more growth for CEvs and LucyLiu plus getting folklore from lots of different parts of the world.
I only watched this movie due to the Legends of Avantris fandom finding the cast tweet. I went in knowing what I was in for. This movie should not have been $250 million. I guess everyone was paid well?
