We sail to Westfjords for some SKIING and reveal a bit about our next (own) boat! I spent a TON of time putting this one together. For example the footage was gathered from 7 different cameras 😨. Hope you enjoyed! Although we were hoping to go to Greenland on Arktika, we're super duper excited for the next chapter in our adventures... We finally found a suitable boat, and it's going to be great to have our own one again!
Excited for what's coming... An loved this episode.. great fun , jumping from the boat had me cracking up laughing... I've done this... Soooo shockingly cold.. great cure for a hangover tho✌🏼💗😊❣️
I wonder if the engines couldn't be fitted with engine block heaters. They are mostly used for car engines but have also been used in aircraft engines. Mainly oil heaters and coolant warmers. They use a good amount of electricity but the benefits may be worth it. I don't see a reason that they aren't used on boats.
Hi Juho, this episode is absolutely epic - it is just so good and I am so excited for you. Your sailing channel is THE best one out there! Fabulous dry humour and very nice shots of the ice on the railings of the boat and also directly in front of the bow... I will be a bit envious of your midnight ski tours later this Spring when everyone else is tucked up in bed!
One of your best. The effort shows. Your camera work with the drone is always exceptional. Honestly, I've never seen anyone use a drone so competently. Beautiful work. Best wishes for future plans with the new boat.
Oh my gosh that is absolutely the best life!!! So grateful someone share your channel with me. Thank you for living this life and sharing it here for us all to see!
Thanks Juho and Sohvi and your friends for a exciting video. Really enjoying the Arctic landscape, hope you film some wildlife in the future. Great Job.
Having watched Uma do Norway, Svalbard, and Iceland, and having enjoyed all 4 episodes of 80 North, I really enjoy your view of things in the north. As a boy I camped in -20 F and had no problems. Now that I have lived three score and ten years I like to watch the cold from afar. Fond greetings from the piedmont of Georgia, USA.
I got a cold chill up and down my spine just seeing all of the spray that had frozen on the boat. Continued safety to you and your companions on your adventures. ⛵🌨🌊🗻
Enjoyed this episode very much!! I watch because the 2 of you and your fun friends have a list for life that's ..... Inspiring!! It's not easy this life.. getting to escape what surrounds me... It's a gift..One given by the videos you share.. I'm very grateful for your channel an inspired!! Thanks for sharing your lives with us and Fare winds an following sea's ✌🏼💗😊❣️
Winterising the engines while anchoring seems to be an awful lot of trouble. You could fit a small hot air heater in the engine room. A small, self-contained unit like Wallas 1300 would probebly be the simplest to fit and should solve the problem of freezing.
Very nice to hear and see all of you. Oh to be young and crazy again. Skiing conditions look much better than your previous adventure. Exciting to learn of your boat purchase and plans to rehab it. I see some interesting videos in the future. Stay well and safe.
There is a lot going on in this episode. The guys at 4:00 drinking beer with mittens on, been there. Rain-X is good for keeping windows clear of spray and ice. Congratulations on finding a new boat.
While you MAY be able to get away with winter or spring Artic sailing in the Pacific,, its not wise to do that in regions where there are iceburgs like Newfoundland, Labrodar NE Canada. My practicle Coast Guard experience is there are thousands of bergy bits, house sized ice burg pieces invisible at night in the Western high Atlantic, especially in the Spring. You run into one and your boat sinks.
This isn’t very good conditions. You guys are to happy and having to much fun. It isn’t right! It’s beautiful there. Music is a good choice. Water is so blue! It’s a great video.
I built my first boat in an old timber yard in Sydney Aust. A neighbor was a Fin with a mechanics business. Every Friday afternoon Matti’s mates would come around and they would all plow into the Finlandia, with rollmops and dill. Several times at night I fell over something on the roadway in the dark to discover it was Matti passed out, drunk and sleeping. Matti was very practical. When asked what oil to use with a particular situation, the answer was always “Oils is Oils”!
@@Tomm9y They are Finns they do this after Saunas and hangovers 🤔🤣😉😜 safe to say.... you do have to be mad and younger to do that sort of bat poop crazy thing 😂
I can't believe how adventurous you guys are. Even when I was your age I would never have attempted some of the things you do. All the best. Cheers from Canada
Thanks for your captivating photography, editing and story telling. Your landscape and seascape is alien to me.“Alluring” indeed! Thanks for sharing your part of the world and your adventures there.
I can see that you are quite happy to have your buddies around. You guys are kind of crazy...good crazy...now I better understand why I've been living out of my suitcase pretty much since 1972.
As a young man lived on my sailboat for 10 years approx 40 miles up the deep water channel from San Fransisco Bay. Captain Morris, a big orange striped tomcat who moved in with me, and myself sailed up the west coast, through the inland passages to Alaska. It was friggin cold & miserable. On our way back down the west coast we were having so much fun completely ignored the Golden Gate & just kept heading south. Sailed around Cabo & up the Sea of Cortez. For sure & certain warm is better.
В этом царстве холода есть что-то безумно притягательное! Шикарное, шикарное видео! Прекрасные мальчики и девочки. Я желаю Вам семь футов под килем, Добра, Радости и Мира.
This was such a epic vlog. I am saying hello from Lake Tahoe CALIFORNIA. THE editing was our of this world. Thank you and cannot wait to see the new boat...
Fantastic episode. Really interesting how the landscape is so inhospitable to anchoring, I guess the sides are as steep as the mountains above, and you’re forced to anchor out where it’s more level. Good luck with the project boat
in that particular fjord it's around 10 meters across almost the whole fjord. but there is very little cover from wind because the wind blows down the mountains, so instead of trying to tuck next to the land I personally prefer to anchor "in the middle". That way you can put out maximum scope and have half a mile of sea room to drag an anchor, should it happen ;)
Great film - I don't think anyone can beat you on skiing aerials - and glad you managed to let your hair down after all the technical difficulties! Glad you've found a new boat, always thought Arctica was too expensive and complex for you guys.
Great video Juho! That drone footage of the skiing and surrounding area was superb as usual. It has been a good journey with Arkita. I look forward to seeing you get the new boat set up and ready for more Arctic fun. Thanks for sharing!
Interesting how boats are not built out of fiberglass up north but built tougher for icy conditions. I wonder how this boat would look in Fiji. Awesome video where I can live vicariously through you! : )
You're great or crazy adventures, I did the sow crab season in Alaska, was hard work and fun, also I love to sail, we can feel the freedom, come from this crew love and peace

It has a stark beauty, but I’m done with cold. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to enjoy it vicariously.
This is the coolest thing I have ever seen. You guys absolutely kill it.
The content of this channel is so good! Never though arctic sailing would be even more interesting than tropics.
Oh yea, so much more interesting than the tropics. Especially during the summer when escaping the heat is nice!

Always keep an eye on ice buildup, as it can make the boat very top heavy and can capsize it easily.
What a Terrific episode!!!

Superb footage. Good luck with the new venture. Pretty impressed that Sohvi is willing to push past the sea sickness to pursue the life aquatic.
thank you! And yes, she's a trooper!
I really hope the new boat will be a better sailor and look better. Exiting!
Insanely beautiful snow fields, and fjords with stark colors tempered by the freezing cold....
Remember when it comes to boat refits: it will be twice your budget and triple the time you expect! Good luck guys!
The footage of the mountains, and skiing (and snowboarding) is stunning, absolutely beautiful. Excellent work.
The water just looks so beautiful and refreshing there
Great video, great shots of skiing and the landscape, can't wait to watch your new boat project!

Such a different kind of boating. Different challenges. Beautiful scenery, especially the skiing! Thank you!
Fantastic landscape and skiing in the sun...down that Corrie.
Your mates are bonkers for jumping in that water 😅💦
Thermal shock is very dangerous too. I've seen people get into difficulties in much milder water.

Wow…just wow beautiful. Great video. What a place. I love that your production is arctic living above the circle at sea and on skis.

Yeah, just too busy with all the boat work, arranging stuff for our "new" boat and so on. And this one probably took 50 hours of editing 😬
Beautiful! And I love to hear Finnish, even though I cannot speak it. It's the language of my ancestors...
