Even your voiceover was like, to the point, self-assured, said all the right things, and gave good tips but without waffling. I'm so proud of you, I've been watching from the beginning and the difference between this vid and some of your first ones shows just how far you've come - AWESOME job, lady.
+Kaylie Mason aw thank you SO much! That really means a lot to me! 😊 I spent a good month planning, filming, editing and generally thinking about this 2-parter video, so I’m really glad you appreciate it!!! 😊😊
When I was young (in the 70's), my favourite top of all time, was a shirred top similiar to the one you just made, except that it was white with lime polka dots (micro). I may be 57, but I am going to go looking for a lime polka dotted shirt to up-cycle. I will have my favourite top again!
ASOS is 110% a fast-fashion brand. That's why we have to learn to make our own clothes! You're doing the world a service by sharing these tutorials. Bless you!!
I have that too and when I'm away from home all day as soon as I get home I take off everything. I cant stand wearing a lot of different clothes cause the fabric make my skin hurt and itch
Have you tried paper bag pants in a softer cotton blend? I feel like they’re super workplace friendly as long as it’s a darker/ more professional colour! Plus, you can elasticate the waist so you aren’t so constricted
It's going to be about fabric choice, also for buying traditional office wear only get lined office skirts/pants/dresses, the lining will make the stiffer outer layer move with your body much much more. Unlined office wear is the worst. Also switch to strech fabrics for the shirts/blouses. You can get some really nice ones now. What you can get away with will highly depend on how professional your work expects you to dress. But trust me once you've tried a pair of fully lined pants!
@@lucyloopy Its more dressy casual, so I usually wear a tunic and leggings in winter and a business shirt and pencil skirt in summer. Sometimes it works wearing uncomfortable things so I dont fall asleep at my desk due to my chronic fatigue, which I have actually done!

It’s becoming more and more apparent to me as an Australian that we are 1-2 seasons behind in fashion. I lived in Europe last year and this was already a huge full blown trend. Only now is it making it down under? Found this when I lived in North America one year as well. We would only receive the new fashions a half year later!
Jessicaisrealawesome maybe because you’re in opposite seasons? I actually buy a lot of Australian summer clothes around Christmas in America (cold December) and then can’t wear them for 3 months hahahahaha
Late 70's early 80's we had tons of shirring style clothing. My favorite was a top made of bandanas that had a shirred bodice and handkerchief sleeves.
This is really a piece that a lot of love and elbow grease has gone into and it looks great! Since I watched your first video about shirring I wonder if this method will work better than the one I learned some years ago from Burda Style. They suggested to hold elastic thread onto the fabric while sewing a narrow zigzag over it without inserting the needle into it and then pull on the elastic when you are done with the row. It worked fine for me and you dont have to wind the bobbin by hand so you might wanny give it a try. Your method looks more professional though.
Isabel Huppmann did that method take a long time? I feel like it may take longer, and be hard to keep the elastic stretched consistently - but that’s really interesting!
I love this One!!! You are such an AWESOME LITTLE SEEMSTRESS!!! I really love all of the upcycling ideas that You do!!!! YOU ROCK, GIRL!!! Thank You for sharing Your talents with Us!

Can't afford posh, even if one could still find it, but I got over that and now upcycle clothing. I am having a ball doing it. Its very good for your brain bc, unless you took classes in design, you have to figure out how to do everything, so problem solving and math skills will be preserved longer. 😉 happy sewing. Thanks for the vid. We used to do this when we were young and also wore dresses from India wh were the best bc the fabric was light and the shirring was so soft.

Worst comes to worst, I can undo I and try the very chunky side seems. Ps the matching at the start really looked like my primary school uniform. Thanks for the giggle. :)
You should have modeled the top with the matching shorts! Also shirring just the sides or the back can give that nice fit, but without sacrificing a smooth look. It also makes a cool detail! I had a bunch of dresses like that when I was a little girl.
I'm amazed at the result, I didn't expect it to look that good before I saw you wear it. I also think this top compliments your body really well. I love the open back!

Annika calls it an overlocker foot, but a lot of machine lingo seems to be very dependent on brand - if you have a Singer or Viking, odds are your manual will call it an “overcast foot”. You can remember that because the goal is to “overcast” or cast your zig zag over the raw edge of the fabric, trapping any fraying. You did such an amazing job. I hate shirred tops but you really made this beautifully.
Nearly everything I own is shirred right now, so this was especially cool to see!
