Hey everyone,
I remember the Canon vs. Nikon wars back in the '80s when I was shooting in Japan. Most combat photographers were using Nikon, but I was one of the few sporting a Canon. For me, it was simple: I needed a camera that did what it was supposed to do.
I've been making a living as a full-time photographer since 1998. Over the years, I've primarily shot with Canon. I started with a Canon A-1, moved to an RZ PRO II, then a Hasselblad. When Canon started releasing all that amazing glass, I knew it was only a matter of time before I'd upgrade. I moved through the 5D Mark III and IV, tested an R6 and loved it, but ultimately ended up with an R5.
Now, I'm really looking forward to the R1-I've just put my name on the waiting list and can't wait to get my hands on it.
For us non-influencers, cameras and lenses are just tools. We pick a system and stick with it. Personally, I love Canon's color science and have never been too fond of Sony. My R5 is my jack-of-all-trades, consistently putting money in my pocket.
I get what people are saying about the lenses-pros making money should be okay with RF glass. I own a few Sigma lenses, but the EF or RF equivalents blow them away, in my opinion.

Yep, Nikon was number one for a long time and Canon as well, but he only mentioned Canon as if Nikon has never done anything and as if Nikon is not doing anything great right now, smh.
@@felm.974 nikon right now probably makes up about 10% of shooters in the photography community right now. They were relevant but never on canon level. Remember when they were about to close facing bankruptcy because nobody was buying nikon.
@@BrandonColePhotography that's not even true, but even if it was, it doesn't take away that Nikon cameras and lenses have been number one for decades and they currently have some of the best mirror-less cameras and lenses oit right now, just because people on social media go with what is popular doesn't mean it is the best :)
Couldn't agree with more about the Canon R5C. The R5C is the only camera with the exception of addition power requirements and open gate, that will do everything! No need for dongles, external SSD's, monitors...etc. If Canon adds C-Log2 and open gate, it's over for the others. I was also shocked at how light weight this thing is. Get it!

Canon still playing games! They opened up the mount for crop sensor lenses only… that’s because they hadn’t made not one lens for the crop sensor other than the kit lenses. They should have open up the whole mount with no restrictions!
They will be adding full frame later. I think it's a good start for canon shooters

The Nikon Z8/Z9 is arguably one of the best hybrid cameras out now. You are getting 10/12 bit internal no crop 4k or 8k. You are getting 8k 60 raw internally. Yet there is no mention of Nikon. Crazy! Watching this video would make one think only Sony and Canon makes cameras.
@@rbj.photography yep, I think it is because Sony and Canon did a good job with marketing and part of their marketing strategy was and is to have this photography "community" bully Nikon for some reason.. But it is ok, you can knock a giant but you can't keep him from standing back up 👑😎.
That's why it's important for new photographers to ALSO listen to people that have well rounded knowledge of all systems. Again, any new photographer watching this video wouldn't know about any other system but Sony and Canon and that's misleading. The R5 or R6II or even the R3 don't have the internal video specs as the Z8/Z9. Definitely not the Sony A7R4 or A7R5. I'm talking internal video capabilities. If your camera is cropping 4k60 you already at a deficit. Z8/Z9 not being mentioned as one of the best, if not the best, hybrid cameras is ridiculous and shows bias. Period.
@@rbj.photography yep, and he says, oh, Nikon only has like 10% of market share, yet, people give Leica, Pentax, and Fuji, way more love and respect, yet those companies can't even touch anything Nikon has been putting out... the hate for Nikon is undeserved and there is no reason for it, the only reason why Sony and Canon people don't bully those 3 other companies, is because they don't see them as competition whereas Nikon has been #1 or #2 since like 1950 lol, probably more number #1 than #2,... when they start seeing Lumix etc become a real threat, then they will talk crap about Lumix and all the others..

Before mirrorless Nikon had the best DSLR with the D850 and some of their other cameras like the D3... so they can keep bullying, but Nikon has a track record of quality and great products which is still being demonstrated today :) Cheers!

I think the a7V is gonna be another game changer like the a7iii was . Sony will pack a punch with this camera when released later this year or early next year to wipe out anything from Canon .

Looking for the Sony a7V for $2500- $2600 US. I’m a hybrid photographer interested in the sweet spot around $2500 and would like: upgraded EVF, tilt & flip screen, AI chip, 10 fps uncompressed with faster readout, improved stabilization and 4K 60 uncropped (or 1.2). Currently using a7III & a7IV.
It takes serious mismanagement to relinquish market leadership to an up-start so I expect Sony’s far superior marketing and innovation to continue to pull away from Canon.
For this price range and features take a look at what the Nikon Z6 III will bring to the table!
@@russellwright9961 Took sleepy Nikon over five years to catch up to Sony's 2018 a7III. Their Z8 is a winner and maybe their Z6 III as well but too little too late. They've lost a ton of market share and don't have the lens lineup making it a difficult choice for anyone but an existing Nikon shooter to buy into. After shooting Nikon for eight years I sold off my D750, D600, D7100 and eight lenses and moved to Sony mirrorless. If it weren't for Sony both Nikon and Sony would still be selling DSLRs.
