I have 2-3 bougainvilleas in ground already cut pretty thick ready to be lifted and placed in pots. Can’t wait 🤗
That pot is going to look fantastic with those flowers. Can't wait to see it.
Looks great , can’t wait to see it fill out.
Thank you Ed !
you inspired me to go around my town and ask for cuttings! everyone was happy to give me several big cuttings. a month later they are all sprouting! i will post a video one day and i hope you will see it! thanks alot jerome
Excited to take a piece from the in laws yard!
I like it,, waiting for next updates. I love bougainvillea

Thanks Jerome!
Awesome progress, your tree growing very fast in just one year!
Great work Jerome! like all ur videos, i am going to do same with my cutting grown bougie & Please take care of yourself
Beautiful tree, thanks for sharing
Nice work already waiting for the updates 👍👍🇵🇷
Thanks 👍
Well done mate. I would love to get me one of these one day soon. 😀😀
Hey mate, thank you!!! I’m so envy of your silver birch, what a beaut!! Trade?😂
I would have used a bigger pot because of the big trunk but the pot you chose seems to work great. I need to develop my pot choosing mojo!
Fantastic, it has grown so well in a year from a cutting, 🤝
I tried propagating this kind of bougie but I was unsuccessful. But I will try again because I'm so inspired with your works and I want to try it myself. 😊
Thank you Chi-chi I’m glad I inspire you 😊
Great look
Your fertilizing regime is interesting. I'll have to go back relisten carefully.
Great work...👍👍👍
Beautiful bhogenville bonsai🥰😍😍the best👍
🙏🍀🇮🇩🍀🙏
Humidic... Humiditic... LOL... Very funny.... Interesting video...
Ahh I was one of those with less watering, because I was told that you stress the tree to make it bloom. Idk haha I have a hard time producing leaves. Nice video!
If you have a hard time production leaves, you are most likely not watering enough, and or giving it enough direct sun.
@@WeareTheBonsaiSupply got it!!! Thanks for the help!!
What is the yellow paste you put on the trunk? Great video 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Love it!!!
Awesome
Very beautiful.
Im amazed at how well this tree grew! Great work Jerome! My own hardwood propogated Bougie just started growing this spring, so hopefully one day it can look like yours 😁
Hi Vincent!! You got this 💪🏻🌳
Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching
Great tree. I just tend to place my trees which have large cuts which have to recover into larger pots. They grow more vigorously and the cuts recover better. I often may keep them in the large pots up to 5 years. Although a do keep styling while I do it.
There are so many ways to develop your trees Gerald. Your way definitely works. I think it all comes down to one’s preference and space. Thank you for your feedback 🙏🌳
Can you explain the reason why you defoliate your plants and how often do you do it? I want to try and make a bougainvillea bonsai since I love this plant and have only seen them as tall climbing plants. I really enjoy watching your videos - so informative and you’re so young to have such a grand knowledge of bonsais! Thank you😊
You defoliate in the summer (for bougainvillea) to get a good look at the structure of the tree (what to keep versus what may need to be cut) and it's easier to apply the wire and lightly bend the branches into place. Otherwise, all the growth obscures your view of what's really going on with the tree. However, only defoliate healthy, established trees. Anything really young or sick and you're asking for trouble. But I JUST got a bougainvillea bonsai and just wired a few branches today.
Looks really good. You left more branches than might have, but I don't have any of this speces. I liked the music, too (I'm a phish head, for reference)..
I live I. Southeast Texas and the temps are still about 90 degrees. Can I repot right now??
Humid, just humid 👌🏾
hahah, had a couple wires touch!
Pot choice, great. It will draw out the white flowers. I'm in central FL, zone 9b. Would I leave my tree alone during our winter months? No defolinating or repotting during the winter? I'm still a little confused about defoliation. I defolinated several trees this spring/summer. I had two azaleas and a boxwood that died on me after I did this. Other trees were fine. Are there some trees that you should not defoliate? Or any special treatment that you should do before defoliation? Most of my boggies are doing good but they ate in pre bonsai stage of their growth.
good job
Nice
i really wanna know what is the orange pigmentation inside the branches i had it in my tree but i didnt find any answer
Hi Jérôme. Thanks for your videos. I've a bougainvillia big cutting like yours. I'd like to know after months of growing, maybe the big straight cut will be ugly. Without a big Is it possible to do this with a small concave clamp or do you need a large one? What size? Concave or other, please tell me which tool. Or maybe a small saw, do you need one for bonsai and finish with the clamp ? The size of the branch is about 10cm. I'm sure this straight cut will be ugly later.
Someone advice me to cut before repot (I'll soon, I put in sand to allow the cutting to make roots, I just got one cut and it will be easy to remove). You think I should do the cutting before or after ? After like yours it seems better as I Can see how he'll grow.
I don't know thanks
Is there an update video for this tree?
Nice! I have a few pink pixie bougies propagated from cuttings. Is this one a pixie as well? Maybe it's the camera angle but it looks huge! My mother-tree over 15 years old in bonsai soil the whole time and it's tiny. I just recently up-potted to a larger pot to thicken trunk some more.
Hey Rich! yes, this on his a pixie too.
The choice is perfect but please please please….! Make follow up videos to see the progression on each tree. This needs a follow up as well as the bottle brush which you only did part 1 & 2. Thanks
Jerome, I salvaged a huge bougainvillea from the trash and rooted it. I sealed the cut ends with Lac Balsam but an orange fungus grew from the cut end. Was it wrong to seal a soft wood tree cut ? ( I miss your in person styling classes in FTL) Gene O'Neill, Winter Park
Hi! The cut ends that go into the soil should only have rooting hormone if anything. I only seal the exposed cut ends :) Thank you:)
Looks great Jerome! That is a beautiful tree! My bougainvillea has green moss (or mold) creeping up the trunk. Should I wait until rainy season is over before taking a toothbrush to clean it? In Fort Myers FL
Hey David! You can either wait or get rid of it now. I would dip the toothbrush into a 1 part white vinegar and 10 parts water solution.
I have a huge one of these I want to turn into a bonsai
I know you filmed this in July. I was planning on repotting a couple of bougainvilleas and I thought I would have to wait till spring next year. Is it ok to repot now in September? Thanks and great work!
Hey Silvester! It really depends on your climate and overwintering abilities, as well as how big of a repot you are planning to do. If you are in a tropical climate, go for it! I am in Georgia and I would still repot it now in September, because I know it is going into a heated greenhouse.
@@WeareTheBonsaiSupply Thank you for your quick response. I am in Southern California. My typical weather tight now is between 90-100 degrees and basically no humidity. I was planning on keeping the plants outside. I was planning to repot two 5 gallon nursery stock. Do you think I am good to go? Thanks again!
@@silvesterping5155 oh absolutely, you are good to go
The rule of not watering for flowering is probably because they bloom in the tropics during the dry season. As you know, during the monsoon season in Florida, plants in the ground are concentrating on growth and the majority of blooming happens between December and March.
Hey Michael! You are most likely right, and then this spilled over into the potted plant world. :)
Would you defoliate every year? How old should the tree be to start defoliating?
So I generally defoliate all of my trees every summer, no matter how old it is. This will re distribute the energy throughout the tree and give me better growth for the second growing half of the year. On the deciduous trees this will also give me better fall colors.
@@WeareTheBonsaiSupply awesome. Thanks for the reply. Off subject, but can I keep my tiger bark ficus in full sun?
Where can I order a big trunk bougainvillea like that?
Please email us at info@thebonsaisupply.com I have another one like this which is for sale.
I like the new angle on your bougainvillea. By the way, it's bract, not bracket.
Hey I appreciate that, thank you 🙂🌳
Mantap bos ku
We also have white one here in India
The pot is too small, but it's nice good work
Jerome, is your first language english?
English is actually my third language :)
