RYZEN 9000 SPECS LEAK | Faster Clocks, IPC & More For Zen 5

  • AMD's Zen 5 line of processors will be announced at the companies computex event, and as you would expect there's no shortage of leaks. Specs of the Ryzen 9000 granite ridge line up have emerged, along with a few additional details concerning the upcoming 800-series board chipset specifications.
Amazingly, AMD also seems keen to release several new Zen 3 based processors for AM4 owners, with yet further increases in clock frequencies.
Granite Ridge and other AM5 processors are expected to offer significant performance improvements over zen 4, mostly by improvements to IPC (instructions per clock).
And as for AMD's RDNA 4 graphics? Well, so far there's been nothing to very little regarding anything being shown at computex. Indeed, a plethora of RX 7000 series based RDNA 3 gpus are being released - for example in china and AI of late, so perhaps my sources who told me RDNA 4 is late this year or early next were onto something.
As always with this stuff we can only await official announcements but it will be very interesting to see not just how AMD's Ryzen 9000 series compares against zen 4, but also how it compares against Intel's upcoming Alder Lake processors, which are likely to be announced in September.
Further to this, Zen 5's frankly dizzying number of leaks for both IPC and performance will be intriguing to test. Rumors are that AVX512 performance is doubled and integer performance of zen 5 is massively improved, but the chips don't always hit this. Whether any of this or none of this is true will be very curious.

@@WayStedYou That's not the way it went at ALL. Zen 3 is STILL in production dude. AMD, Nvidia, Intel don't just STOP making products when a new one comes out unless the products have been poor sellers but considering Zen 3 has been WILDLY successful for AMD there was no WAY they were going to stop making it.
AMD SAID that Zen 3 will be their budget line after they put out Zen 4 or actually WHEN they put out Zen 4.

    • @johndoh5182
      @johndoh5182 4 месяца назад

New here? When AMD launched Zen 4 they SAID that Zen 3 will be their budget option. So Duh???? Yeah they calculated that move before they ever launched Zen 4, like probably a year before they launched Zen 4 when they realized how expensive Zen 4 was going to be.
Assume you're TSMC and AMD and Zen 3 has been very successful AND TSMC is having their customers move on from TSMC N7 to N5, 4 and 3. If I'm AMD I want to keep making a product that's probably been their best seller ever but it needs to cost less to manufacture, and if I'm TSMC with little orders for N7 I want AMD to keep using N7. I KNOW, let's give AMD a REALLY good deal to keep manufacturing on N7.
See how that works? Both parties are benefiting from that arrangement and it's why you see cheap B550 MBs on revision SEVEN. Many RUclipsr idiots (Steve from GN, Steve from Hardware Unboxed) have said Zen 3 was only worth it if you already had an AM4 MB which I found laughable since you could buy a B550 MB for $100 - $120 USD, a 5600 for around $120 or a 5500 for under $100 USD, and get 32GB DRAM for $70 USD. In other words whatever you need for a Zen 3 build minus everything else you need for ANY build (case, PSU, etc......) for less than the cost of most CPUs being sold unless you wanted to do the same thing with Intel, buy older parts and get a good discount but none of their MBs were as cheap as B550 or they were junk.
For almost 1.5 - 2 years Zen 3 had 6 - 8 products on Amazon's top 10 best selling CPUs. That's no longer the case, I think those numbers started slipping about half a year ago, now it's more like 4 - 6 Zen 3 products that are typically in that list.
So yes, Zen 3 has been AMD's budget line since Zen 4 launched, thanks to TSMC N7 being discounted for AMD to keep manufacturing on it.

Good catch! Also weird that it has lower clocks than the 5950X. Perhaps that's why it's being named as a 5900XT? Aside from clocks, looks identical to the 5950X. Because it's 100MHz slower than the 5950X, they couldn't call it a 5950XT - the 'XT' shouldn't be slower than 'X'.
Assuming no typo, it's a lower binned 5950X, but they are naming/marketing it as an upgraded 5900X.

Very happy to see AM4 is still being supported in 2024! It's good to have these options, many people think they NEED to spend
more on DDR5 and AM5 for a gaming experience that meets their goals, most of the time the games they would like to run and
the resolution, frame rate and graphics settings they are after are well within the capabilities of DDR4 3600MHz and a strong AM4
CPU like the Ryzen 5800X3D or 5700X3D. Also, plenty of 12 and 16 core options for those who are after a Workstation for editing.
Understandably, it would be great to use AM5 hardware and features to be Future Ready, but if the budget is much lower than what's
required, AM4 is a great choice; as long as the PC can get the job done, you'll never be disappointed! FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) gets
many people to spend more unnecessarily, for example, when these new Ryzen CPUs are released will that suddenly mean that the
Ryzen 7800X3D is rubbish all of a sudden? No of course not, it was a great CPU before the new models came along, and it will still be a
great CPU for years to come (*For the right person and application use cases*).

Why would people upgrade? Well, it depends on how much of a CPU bottleneck they're getting. You really want both CPU and GPU to not choke each other, or there's no benefit in a new GPU, and the GPU is the big cost.
The reason I upgraded last time was that there was probably around a 10% CPU choke point on my card, that was all I'd gain going to a 4070ti anyway, and that the cpu ram motherboard upgrade was still cheaper than the GPU upgrade.
Reality is 12th gen Intel (well anything 12600 and up) and Zen 3 (particularly the X3D) are not a major bottleneck. When I was on Zen +, or 11th gen, they were a bit of a bottleneck to my 2070 Super then my 3080. Even 10th/11th gen and Ryzen 3000 are a huge jump from previous systems and many people are running much older than that just fine.
Now, there's no point upgrading until I buy a much faster GPU, and that's not worth it without a MUCH faster monitor than 144hz or moving to 4k, or path tracing looking much much better without a $2500 upgrade cost.
So yeah, it's cool to read the tech news, but I won't be upgrading unless the new Radeon RDNA 4 or Battlemage stuff offers insane bang for buck that lets me run much higher settings than I can now (which are mostly maxed at 1440 on most games), and if they do then my resale on the 3080 will be poor. Nvidia is gonna be crazy expensive, so that's out.
Hmmm, maybe 9800XT will be cheap enough but there's still enough team green fanbois or CUDA dependent wannabe AI developers?
I see me waiting until right to the end of AM5 for a best X3D upgrade, and RDNA5 when they're cheap, but given how AMD has currently set 5000X3D prices that may not be worth it either.
The cost of staying on the current "bleeding" edge has always been expensive, but since Covid it seems to be triple what it was previously.
